Author's Note:
Hey, guys. Again, thank you for stumbling over this particular story of mine. For adventure purposes, I decided that I will write this Book in a third person's POV. I'm better when I write it that way, and also because this Book is in the Adventure Fantasy Genre, I think third person's POV will be a much more excellent way for this. The Third Person's POV is when I, the narrator, have the overall control for this story. I'm the one narrating it. Also, to avoid confusion, let me clear these things to all of my dear readers...
Starting in this chapter, the characters in this Book will undergo to that sort of role-playing thingy. As Madame Evee said, all the characters that were chosen to play the Death Games will forget their real-life memories while they're under the dark machine and inside the real-life simulator survival arena. I hope you all understand and liked this story.
P.S: For all the adventurers out there, this is where your journey starts. Together with the characters, fasten your seatbelts as we go through inside the life of living as a player in this one-of-a-kind game, The Death Games. Get ready to read different lands and explore distinct dangers.
Are you ready?
If yes, happy sailing, my stars.

The city of Cairo sparkled in the moonlight. The towers and temples gleamed, and the broad, clean streets were quiet. Luxurious ships bobbed side by side in the harbor, and the sailors cheerfully went about their work.
Overlooking it all stood the palace of King Oscar. The court was always an impressive sight, but tonight the golden light of hundreds of lanterns made it look more glorious than ever. Music and laughter poured into the night from within its walls, cloaking the city with joy.
The Delegation of Thirteen Cities had arrived earlier that day at the invitation of the King. Everyone wanted to be a part of the celebration now that the fabled Book of Peace and Light had come to Cairo at last. The Book protected the Thirteen Cities and would stay in Cairo for 200 years. Then it would move on to another city.
Inside the palace, a beautiful, dark-haired young ambassador named Avy was enjoying the party. She sometimes grew bored with palace parties, but this was an exceptional occasion.
"Here she is," she heard from behind her. She immediately recognized the voice of the King's son, Winter.
"I've told her all about you. Light, I would like to introduce you to my fiancée, The Lady Avy Demascenia, Ambassador from Thrane."
Avy was surprised. Light? Had she heard the prince right?
She turned around and saw a handsome young man standing beside Winter. The stranger wasn't dressed for this occasion. But there was a gleam in his gray-orbed-eyes that captured her interest right away.
"So this is the infamous Light Blackwood," Avy said lightly.
Raising her eyebrows, she continued to speak, "I heard all about you this morning. First, you tried to rob Winter, and then you save his life. So which are you, a thief or a freakin' hero?"
She already knew the answer. Winter, the King's only son, had been sailing toward Cairo with the Book when a shipload of pirates had tried to steal it. Light, Winter's childhood best friend, was their leader.
While fighting over the Book, a sea monster一sent by Eris, the Goddess of Chaos and Darkness一had, attacked both ships. Light has risked his own life to save Winter, well, at least that's how Winter described it to Avy. Of course, she knew that the prince always saw only the best in people. Avy found it one of his most appealing attributes一even if it sometimes made him a little too trusting for his own good.
Winter smiled uncertainly at Avy. "Light wanted to allow me to thank him..." His voice trailed off as he glanced at the spot where Light had been standing a second ago. But the uninvited guest had disappeared just as quickly as he had arrived.
The couple soon spotted Light and his men leaving the ballroom. What was going on? They both asked themselves as they tried to follow Light's way.
By the time Avy and Winter pushed their way through the crowds and reached the door, Light was long gone. Minutes later, they realized that there was nothing left for them to do but to shudder at the mere fact that Light completely vanished without leaving a single word to them.
Moments passed, the couple decided to step out of the palace gardens for a breath of fresh air. It was a beautiful night. The Light from the Book Tower sparkled and danced across the water.
"Look at this way," Avy said with a laugh. "Now that Light's gone, your father can relax and enjoy the evening."
She knew the King couldn't be happy about having a thief as a guest on such an important night.
Winter smiled in return. "You're right about that," he agreed. "He's trying not to show it, but he's so proud to have the Book here in Cairo. He's been planing this day his whole life."
By now, they had reached the balcony overlooking the sea.
"Soon, it'll be your responsibility," Avy commented.
"Let me correct it. Our responsibility," Winter corrected with a smile. Avy smiled back, then stared out toward the moonlit water for a moment.
"It's beautiful," she said.
"It is," Winter agreed eagerly, glancing upon at the impressive Book Tower rising behind them. He was still thinking about the Book of Peace. "There are guards on every level, and if you look up to一."
Noticing Avy's smile, he stopped in mid-sentence and grinned sheepishly.
"You were talking about the ocean, aren't you?" he said.
She returned her gaze to the sea. "I only wish I'd seen more of it. I used to imagine sailing far beyond the Thirteen Cities and discovering the world."
"Avy," Winter said thoughtfully, "Our marriage was arranged many years ago. But politics is not a reason to get married一I don't want you to do this just because it's your duty."
Avy sighed, "Winter, I一."
Before they could even finish the discussion, King Oscar rushed up to them. "There you are!" he cried breathlessly to Avy.
"I think the delegates from Minnelli are trying to give a toast一although I'm not sure." He shrugged helplessly.
"They're doing something with their knees..."
Avy glanced at Winter, then smiled at the King. "Of course, sir. I'll be more than willing to help," she said, taking his arm.
Ever since she was a little girl, Avy had loved to learn about exotic lands and different cultures; even though she didn't travel that much now, the King still counted on her to help him understand the language and behavior of visitors who came to the city from faraway lands.
It wasn't the same as seeing those lands for herself. But her life was in Cairo now, not on the open sea.
Of course, that didn't mean she couldn't still dream of what might have been.
For her, she was that same little girl who wants nothing but to run on some seascapes.
For her, she was the queen of the sea, after all.
