After the exchange of rings the service continued. When the service finally ended, the new couple and guests move out for photography. The master of the ceremony, called out the order in which the photographers were to be taken with the couple. This lasted for about one and half hour before the guest were ushered in to the reception hall.
Due to the mammoth crowd present, the reception hall could not accommodate all the guest. consequently entrance into the hall was restricted to a certain category of people. But this not withstanding, everybody has or her fill of Whatever kind of food meat or drinks he or she wanted . There were also a lot of leftover such that some greedy ones took home full chickens, bottle of wine and not to mention swan water, which was the only kind of drinks available.
A week after the wedding, Alhaji Bako and Ada made a trip to overseas for their honeymoon. Their first of call was England. From there they made for France then to the American before returning back to Nigeria.
For about three months, Bako and Ada were still touring important and historical places in these countries making fantastic shopping. Ada was highly fascinated by what she saw in these countries. There cleanliness, the wide road, many of which has four lanes, two going on the either way the nest rows of house, the skyscraper, many of which were as high as the mountains, the underground train tunnel the complex flyovers, the citizens punctuality and time consciousness, the uninterrupted power and water supply, the discipline of driver and their strict observance of the traffic regulations, the flashy cars and so on she really loves what she saw over there.
For these three months, no joy equalled that of Ada. she thanks God for the opportunity given to her to step her feet on the soil of these western countries of the world and for giving her Bako as husband , thought whom all these were made possible.
She regarded the day she got married to Alhaji Bako as a day of her life , describing it as " The day of my rising sun."
When Bako and Ada came back to Nigeria the love between them bloomed more than ever before. The pleasant memories of the countries added force to her feeling. Often time, they tried to practice the white people method of romantic life, which they experience overseas. In fact they became so close to each other like the love just began it was like the love of Romeo and Juliet.
Few days after returning back to Nigeria, Ada called Bako "Darling and asked him when are you going to buy me some cars ? I think I need to have some cars for shopping and then for taking our children to school and for my personal movement.
As Ada mention of "our children," they both laughed and embraced each other. Bako was extremely happy to hear that from her. For though Ada was already pregnant, he was still doubtful about getting a child from her.
" That is right," replied Bako. " What a coincidence! I was just thinking about that this very morning and had a mind of asking you to choose what kind of cars you would want me to buy for you before you came up about the same idea. Now have you decided on the number of cars and which kind of cars you want?"
Ada replied, "I want a Beast for my outing, a B.M.W. 500 SEL , for my shopping and a Mercedes 200, for taking the children to school."
"Darling, you are very modest," said Alhaji Bako. " I expected you to request for more cars like Lincoln Limousine, E type Jaguar , Cadillac and so on. But you demanded for low grade cars. I will buy them for you If actually you do not have better choice.'
Ada did not want to request for expensive cars for which at the end, she might not be getting any one as she just newly married Alhaji Bako and had not studies him for a long time to understand him that much, she felt that for Bako to asked her which cars she wants expecting her to choose bigger cars equal to the ones he used himself might be a kind of litmus test for how greedy she could be. And for Bako to find her guilty of geed soon might to an end to their marriage and consequently put an end to her happiness in her life
Another compelling factor for which Ada decided to choose smaller cars was that as her parents had disowned her, she wanted to be extremely careful not to wrong Bako lest she be divorced and end up being the bat which is neither a bird or a frying mammal.
To forestall any thing that would occasion any disagreement between her and Bako, therefore, she answered, " Buy those three for me, darling and I will be satisfied."
" That is alright," said Bako. I will buy them for you I hope you won not mind to exercising patient till next day which is tomorrow?
for I will be having meeting with all the management staff of my different companies tomorrow and I doubt If I will be able to finish in time before we go and purchase them."Download Novelah App
