Chapter 19 - Alone With Her

*Samantha’s Point of View*
---
After eating our ice creams and playing some of them, we cleaned ourselves at the nearby fountain and sat on a nearby bench.
We talked about things, and I never knew that Red got a sense of humor. Well, maybe a perk of being a DJ. But she could really make me smile, laugh, and feel weird at the same time. Damn, why did it take me forever to make a move on this angel?
Then later in the afternoon, we went to watch a horror movie, and we didn't finish watching it because it's so damn scary. There were even times that I had to grab her arm and hide my head behind her. And she was just like watching a comedy show since she keeps on laughing. And maybe because of my reactions and the people around us.
Well, if I got to think about myself earlier, I would really laugh at myself too. That's just so stupid. But hey, at least I got a chance to hold onto her. Uh-huh. Yeah.
---
We are currently walking inside a restaurant, and she said that we are going to eat dinner early because she will take me somewhere before sunset. And that makes me really excited and nervous at the same time. Well, I'm not thinking about something unnecessary at all.
"Ms. Lawrence, please follow this guy to your reservation." Someone at the counter said to Red while pointing at a young waiter who stares at Red interestingly. And something familiar came over me.
"You clearly didn't plan this date, huh?" I asked her and held her hand.
She looked at me in surprise, and she just smirked. I guess she knew what I was trying to tell her.
The waiter looked so disappointed and proceeded to lead the way to our table.
Everything went fine, nope, not fine, everything went incredible. It's just that she keeps on staring at me, and I can see it in my peripheral vision. And if I would look at her, she would look somewhere else. She is just so effing cute.
---
After dinner, she drove somewhere, and maybe this is it that she wants me to see or something. It had taken about fifteen minutes before she stopped the truck. We parked by the beach, and she parked Alice, facing its back to where the sun will set.
I think we will watch the sunset. Damn, I've never watched it since my mom and Samara left. We just used to watch it all together whenever we would go to my grandparents’ beach house. But sadly, my parents got divorced, and we have no more family days.
She grabbed some blanket at the back seat, and we climbed up on the back of the truck.
"Thank goodness. We're not late." She let out and motioned me to sit down beside her.
"You know what, Sammy, I come here every time I feel exhausted from work and when everything about school goes sh*tty." She stated and smiled like she's sharing this place with me that this is her resting place where she feels safe and comfortable.
And I love it too. It's so wonderful.
---
As the sun is slowly going down, we talked and laughed about that movie we watched and other small things.
"This is beautiful, Red." I mumbled, and she looked at me, then uttered, "Yeah, it is."
She looked at my eyes and back to the horizon where the sun is about to set. It's not just beautiful; it is ultimately fantastic.
I took out my phone and snapped some photos of the setting sun and this gorgeous girl beside me.
She smiled at it and got close to me, and then I just took some pictures of us both.
Well, this day is more complete. This is one of the happiest days of my existence.
We looked at the photos, and our heads bumped, but not that hard.
"Ow, I'm so sorry." She apologized and touched my forehead.
"Hey, it's nothing. I'm sorry too. How about yours? Is it okay?" I let out and asked her.
"Nah, I'm hard-headed." She asserted, laughed, and she touched the part that hit mine.
"Heads are hard, you know," I let out and just to state the obvious. She laughed again and nodded.
"Well, mine is the hardest." She countered and knocked her head three times.
"Hey, don't do that," I told her with concern.
Well, she might get concussions. But she just laughed at it. Well, if laughing is a medicine, then that makes Red's laugh the most effective. I'm just sayin'.
She paused when she noticed that I had been staring at her for too long. And I could still see her face since everything around us is slightly orange and dark. I leaned in close to her, like, damnit, I'm going to kiss her now because there's just this thing that's pulling us closer and closer to each other. And I could now feel her warm breath on my face, and her lips are really, really close to mine.
Then my f*cking phone rang.
We moved away from each other, then I grabbed the annoying thing and looked at who called in the middle of the most important and crucial thing that is about to happen in my life. And please, don't forget to remind me to kill whoever this is who disturbs our moment.
"It's Morgana," I muttered, and I'm a little bit angry. Nope, I'm just annoyed, disappointed, irritated, upset, and all the other bad feelings in the world.
"Uh, you can answer her." She stated and looked at our surroundings. And I proceeded to tap the answer icon.
"Hey, Morgan? What's ---" I asked the girl on the phone, but the person on the other line cut me off. Very nice!
"Hey, Saaaaam!!! Where the eff are you right now? Do you know where my sister is? And we happened to be at your house because we are gonna have a sleepover. We forgot to make our assignment in Math, remember?" She babbled continuously.
I breathed in deeply and tried to keep my cool.
"Hey, hey, hey! Can you ask me one question at a time, Morgan?" I told her. You didn't even ask if you have disturbed something very important. Well, never mind.
"Alright, uh... Have you seen Becca?" She asked slowly.
"No," I answered shortly after because I didn't see her. And I don't know where Shane and Becca went.
"Okay, now... Where are you?" She asked again. And what should I say to her? Damn it, should I say that I'm with Red? Or... I don't know.
"Umm, well... I am at a place where I am not with you. And alright, I'm on my way home." I answered just to finish the conversation.
Red looked at me, and she's ready to go. No, I don't want to go.
"Uh, okay. But where are you really, Sam?" She asked again, and this time, I told her that I'm on the road and driving. Then she said she's going to hang up because she doesn't want me to get into an accident. Good girl. I'll just tell them everything later.
"So, umm... We have to go home. I mean, I gotta go home." I uttered, and I forgot, there's no 'we' yet. She just smiled and stood up, then she reached out her hands to lift me, and I happily accepted it. Well, this girl is just so sweet and gentle—a true angel.
---
We stopped by at her mom's restaurant because my car is here. And a crazy idea just popped into my head.
"Hey, Red! What about... we switch cars, and we race home?" I called her, and she looked at me crazily, like saying, "are you serious?"
"Uh, well... I agree with the switch of cars, but don't do racing. Okay?" She replied, and I know she doesn't want to risk something because it's very dangerous. I know that. I'm just trying to see what her reaction will be.
"Why? You chicken out?" I taunted her while grinning.
"Nope, I'm not a chicken. It's just that it's very, very dangerous, Sammy." She answered with concern in her voice. Aww, she really cares for me.
"Okay. No racing. Just switch." I confirmed and handed her my keys.
Then we both got out of the truck, and she went to my car, and I went to Alice's driver's seat.
Wow, it's just so amazing to sit here and drive this cool pick-up truck.
"Alright, Alice! Let me drive you, okay?" I muttered and looked at Red.
She started the engine and made it roar. Then she drove slowly and stopped beside Alice.
"Hey, see you at the finish line!" I yelled, and she looked at me in horror and protested, "Hey, no racing!"
Finally, I stepped on the gas and drove home.
