Chapter 39 - WTF?
*Blair Claudette Cavanaugh’s POV*
---
“What are we supposed to come here for again, ladies?” I asked the women who had dragged my mate and me to stroll within the academy as the sun had finally set two hours ago.
Leanne stopped in her tracks to look back at us as we walked behind them, three humans. We just stepped into the senior’s building, looking around the familiar hallway with lockers on the left side.
“To see what the changes were implemented here for the last three decades of your absence, and… find something not normal.” She answered, making my eyebrows furrow as I was pretty troubled, and Pryce replied to her, “Not normal… such as...?”
And the lesbian doctor, Andrea, pointed her flashlight upside down below her chin and spoke with an eerie, spooky voice, “Anything paranormal… Such as---”
I cut her off since I found this activity fascinating when something silly suddenly popped into my head. “What? Vampires? Werewolves? Goblins? Oh, aliens? Fudge, I love to meet one! And zombies!”
“No, vampires and werewolves are not unusual. We are walking with such creatures right now. We wanted to prove some things that our kids had mentioned that this place had been swarmed with ghosts at night. Well, even during daylight. Right, Marvy?” Drea answered and turned to look at the principal, who had been anxiously looking around us. I know she never wanted to go here with these two not-so-fearless morons, but she has nothing to be scared about because we are here… or there is. Hmmm. Let’s see how brave these mortals are.
“Ye-yeah! I actually heard lots of claims from the students here that there were times that they could see ghost sightings, hear spooky sounds, and see moving objects that no one touches around here in the academy, especially in the music room, the library, gym, and of course, the restrooms.” Marve confirmed and scooted closer to Leanne, who moved away from her, making the scaredy-cat woman grab the hem of the lawyer’s jacket. “Let go, Marvy!”
“That’s pathetic. What if you have students here that are supernatural? Witches, perhaps?” I remarked, and we continued walking down the hallway.
“Yeah, that could be possible. Ford Herrera did mention there were werewolves who enrolled in this academy. Maybe witches and vampires are here, too, studying with human kids.” My girl thoughtfully let out and went near a particular locker. I remembered it was hers back in the day. Where was mine located again? Nah, I don’t even remember the fudging number.
“Mm, yeah, maybe. But what the majority of the population here believes is that ghosts are the ones doing the spooky things here. Particularly poltergeists. Yeah, do you know that both of you, Blayce, were so popular here among the students throughout the years since the time you died? They say that your ghosts had been strolling around here in the academy… Ooh, especially on the rooftop of this building. The name Miss Winsley is so famous here when it comes to paranormal things.” The principal mentioned, which the two other humans here agreed, nodding their heads.
“Wow, that’s… that’s nice.” My mate commented and went near us, and we all turned left. And what I remembered is that this hallway leads to the cafeteria, and through the end was the way heading to the library. Maybe they didn’t make too many changes here.
“What was that?” Marvy jumped, gripping my left arm when we heard something clunking not so distant from where we were. Then Drea pointed the flashlight in the direction, and her wife, the camera in her phone.
I tried to get off Marve’s hands off of me, and I noticed my mate looked at me knowingly when I let out my thought. “Could it be… Miss Winsley?”
And they all just laughed sarcastically. “Haha! Very funny, Blair.”
“But seriously, though, let's check it out,” Leanne suggested and motioned Pryce and me to walk first, making me scoff.
“You go ahead first. You were the brave ones. You even have a firearm with you.” I told Lee and pushed her to go first.
“No, you are the supernatural ones. You have your firepower with you.” She insisted and went behind Pryce and me, then Marve and Drea followed her.
“Screw this! Drea, you go ahead first. You have a flashlight with you.” I told the doctor, who handed the thing in her hold to Marve who quickly refused to take it.
“Why are you such pussies? Aren’t we supposed to find out if there are paranormal things happening here? We shouldn’t have gone here if you all get scared by a sound that a raccoon or a cat must have caused. Where are the switches of the lights here in the hallway, by the way?” Pryce let out, and we all looked at her.
“Oh, yeah, of course! You go ahead, Pryce. You could just eat whatever monster that had made that sound there.” Leanne pointed out, and the rest of us nodded our heads vigorously to agree with the lawyer. Not that I am scared, but… I just want not to be brave. I am in my human mode, as well as my girl, so yeah, we aren’t that powerful right now, except I have my witch magic. But if I needed to become a vampire, I might be as ferocious as a lion king in the wild.
“Oh, look! It’s just a cat. A cute cute cat. Hey, come here, miming!” Drea uttered and called as she pointed the flashlight to the trash bin that was about ten meters away from us. It’s indeed an orange-colored cat.
And I heard most of them let out a breath of relief.
“Hmm. Yeah, my girlfriend could eat a cat. Right, Sweetheart?” I remarked and looked at my mate, who glared daggers at me.
“Haha, of course! Your cat, Blair?” Leanne jeered, and we both laughed and high-fived.
“Fudge, yeah! She is damn good, Lee! Amazing!” I cackled and earned a slap on my booty from my bashful, blushing mate. And I whined, “What? That’s true, Babe!”
And the other couple here just laughed at us.
“Shhh! There’s another sound. But the cat is just there. Can you hear it?” Marvy alerted us, and we all shut our mouths to listen to any sound.
We waited for anything that we could hear, and I looked at Drea when I could hear her nervous breathing as she tried to point her flashlight anywhere and looked around anxiously.
I never knew that this ghost hunting activity we are doing could be so enjoyable. Too bad Sander isn't here. But that witch could just spoil everything and maybe be the one to scare the sh*ts out of these humans here.
To end all these women’s what-ifs and light problems, I used my telekinesis to make all the lights turn on along the hallways. And the b*tches shrieked and looked like they were losing their sh*ts.
“What the f*ck?”
“Who did that?”
“What the hell?”
“Blair, did you do it?”
“Relax, ladies! It’s Blair.” My mate affirmed, trying to hold her laughter, and I winked at her. Then I held her left hand with my right one to tell her something through our minds.
“Good one, love.” She told me proudly, and I wiggled my eyebrows. “We could do more surprises. Try to suggest one, Cupcake.”
She made a thinking face and was about to say something, but our friends' scream bellowed in the hallways when all the lights suddenly turned off.
“What is wrong with you, Blair! Stop playing with the lights!” Marvy cried out, and I raised both my hands in response, saying, “I didn’t do anything!”
“Oh, really? Now, I know you are the one making those weird sounds around here.” Drea let out, accusing me, and I looked at my mate when she looked for confirmation from me.
“I didn’t! I just turned on the lights. I didn’t turn it off. And it wasn’t me who caused any sounds.” I explained, telling the truth, and I held my girl’s hand to say something to her. “I seriously didn’t do it, Babe. I was just about to do so, but… I don’t know what happened.”
Pryce nodded her head in response, and I knew she believed me.
“Then who did that?” Leanne asked, and I wonder, too.
I tried to turn on the lights again, but I couldn't seem to be successful.
“There’s something wrong here,” I muttered, making them all turn their heads to look at me.
“What do you mean, Blair?” Pryce asked me, and I closed my eyes to turn into my vampire mode so I could sense anything unusual around this place, but I couldn't.
Then I looked at my mate, who seemed to shift into her human werewolf form as her eyes turned purple. And she tried to sniff the air.
“Witch magic. There are two other people here.” She let out and looked ahead.
“Oh, sh*t! Who are they?” Marvy trembled and went behind me as well as the other girls.
I was about to create a light with my energy to make them less scared, but I couldn’t, no matter how I tried, and neither to turn on the lights again here. Not to mention I can’t turn into my vampire form. My wishing necklace seemed malfunctioning.
What is happening? Why can’t I use my witch magic? Any of it.
“What’s wrong, Blair? Do you feel them?” Pryce asked me, and I inhaled deeply to concentrate.
“No. I think we should go home, I can’t---” I told them, but Leanne cut me off, “Is that a… Holy f*ck!”
“A walking skeleton? Blair, are you doing something with that?” Drea let out, pointing her flashlight ahead, and I shook my head in response.
Pryce looked at me with her wondering face, and I shrugged my shoulders.
“What? Walking skeleton? Blair, stop fooling around! Put that back in the lab!” Marve belted and looked at the creepy plastic thing that was walking towards us.
“N-no! I don't... I’m not doing anything! I can’t use any witch magic.” I exclaimed and kept trying to use any witch spell, but I still couldn’t.
These witches, whoever they are, are the ones messing up with us.
“Do something, Blair! It’s coming nearer to us!” Drea yelled, and I certainly didn't know what to do right now. What can I do? I am human!
I looked at Pryce when she growled, and claws came out of her hands as well as gray fur on her arms.
Then my eyes widened in surprise when there was a gunshot.
Leanne fired at the walking skeleton, making it fall, but then it stood up again.
“You gotta be kidding me! Blair, what is that?” Lee cursed as she had wasted four bullets, yet nothing was happening to the creepy walking thing.
I could feel my heart beating faster, and I don’t know if it was because of fear or fright. I guess both. Oh, that’s fudging the same!
And the moment became more frightening when Drea’s flashlight died and also Leanne’s phone.
“Are we gonna die?” Marvy sobbed and held tight on my right arm, and I tried to calm down. Why is this human form of mine is as scaredy as a piece of sh*t?
“No! I can’t see anything. The flashlight is not working!” Drea belted in panic.
“Babe? Where are you?” I called out my mate as I couldn’t feel her near around us here. And then there was a grunting sound somewhere, and I guess she was beating up the skeleton.
“Pryce?” Leanne called out.
“This thing can’t die! It keeps assembling back again!” I heard her deep growly voice, and she had surely turned into her beast form.
“It won’t stop if the caster won’t let it go. Get back here, please. Who are the witches that you could sense? Is it my cousin? I will surely kill her if she’s the one messing up with us.” I told her, and there was silence.
“Pumpkin? Where are you?” I called her, but then my eardrums almost broke when the ladies behind me screamed when indeed, a big jack-o'-lantern suddenly appeared with its faint orange light illuminating our surroundings.
Is that a balloon? Where on earth did that ridiculous pumpkin come from?
“What the fudge? Pryce, where are you?” I cursed and tried to find my mate, feeling a sudden rush of fear in my system.
I flinched when there was a gunshot again, and Drea told her wife, “Stop shooting it, Anne!”
“Uh… B-Blair, lo-look behind you.” I heard Marve stutter as she tried to pull my hand, and I turned behind me and saw someone was there.
Then the lights along the hallway had turned on, making us see clearly what was around us.
I gasped when I saw, before me, a figure I hadn't seen for quite some time.
“Marge?” I muttered, shocked and puzzled.
Then the red-haired woman, who had a face that looked exactly like the person who was so dear to me, smirked and held up her left hand to wave at me.
“Hello, Blair!” She answered, using the same voice as my foster mother had, and I saw she snapped her left fingers. And darkness embraced me.Download Novelah App
