Chapter 44 - Us Together
*Pryce Winsley's POV*
---
“Ouch!” I yelped when I touched something hot when I tried to unchain Blair from the stupid chair, and I noticed its silver chain, but hot.
“Sorry, Babe. I was trying to melt it.” Blair uttered, and I scoffed, “You could have just teleported out of that seat if you already got your powers back, you know?”
“Magenta! How did… Get them back in chains, Asteria! The moon is about to get to its place!” Hera ordered, and I suddenly heard a faint whooshing sound and only to see that the redheaded witch was sending a charmed Octavia’s Crystal flying on Blair’s way.
Oh, no, she’s going to bury it in her flesh. And I know it will put her back into powerless mode.
So with the help of my vampire superspeed, I caught the thing with my right hand before it could make contact with my girl’s skin, and it indeed caused my palm to have a deep wound.
I gritted my teeth and winced as I took it out and kept it while Blair finally used her abilities to break free and faced the two other furious witches.
“You are quite a clever girl, Pryce Winsley. I knew you were hiding something since that moment I met you in your academy.” Magenta chatted, and I just shrugged my shoulders in response. “I’m not that stupid. And FYI, I was a candidate for valedictorian back in high school thirty years ago.”
Then I chuckled when I heard Blair butted in, “And she advanced in her current werewolf classes! You will really regret messing up with her or me! Us together!”
“Make them bleed!” Hera yelled, and I knew they were about to run out of time.
“Hmm. A tribrid, huh? Makes it even better.” Magenta smiled, and I grabbed the chair near me to slam it to any of them, yet I couldn’t seem to move as well as Blair. And I cursed in my head when I noticed the number of creatures that are ready to reinforce once things get effed up with these witches here.
I sighed in relief when I saw my mate doing her thing, which is using her mind and abilities against our enemies and both our situations.
“You do realize that I'm a witch, too, right? I can do mostly what you can and repel it. But the best thing about it… is I'm a vampire as well and do it all fast. Like in just a blink, I could…." My mate bragged and made all the three witches bound by the silver chains they used on us in just seconds, and now their butts are on the floor.
"Tie you all up. Look at that. That was easy. Mmhmm, I don't want to hurt any of you yet, as I am feeling a little generous right now. Is generous the right term? Whatever, I'm feeling a little bit nice tonight. Even though you almost took my sanity away just a while ago, I am open to negotiation. So, what's up?" Blair asserted and walked back and forth and teleported from one place to another spot within this platform we are on and kept chatting with them. While me? I am beginning to panic, looking at the number of angry werewolves about to attack us here.
"Uh, Blair… look. What's your plan?" I alerted my mate, and she thankfully noticed the crowd we have here with us.
"Oh, fudge! I didn't see you all there earlier. Hello! You are pretty much a lot, huh? Hang on. Let's make this show somewhat private. And it's time to get damn hot." My thoughtful freaky girlfriend let out, and she began moving her hands in a familiar gesture. Then I remembered that it was how she caged me into four walls of fire during my insane awakening just a month ago.
I stared in awe at the tall burning fence she created around the platform we were on, and I shifted into my beast form to attack those who had gotten inside.
With just one hit of my arm, I could send a werewolf flying out of the wall of fire, and it feels unusually good but upsetting to actually hurt someone. But if I am to protect and fight for what is right, I need to be brute as a leader. There is time for everything, and being considerate and nice takes no place during this kind of time. This is madness that these witches wanted, and it should be stopped.
And thinking about those women, where are they?
"Blair! Where are the witches?" I called out my mate, and she closed her eyes to feel their presence, yet she shook her head in response. I can't feel them anywhere near me, either. They must have used their Mirak's Crystal to escape.
I looked behind me and saw the dead man there together with the crystal ball, and I presume the enemies are just around, waiting for the perfect time to ambus us.
I almost jumped out of surprise when I heard a thud on the ground behind me as there was something that fell from the sky, and another one.
"Holy fudge!" Blair cursed, and I got my mouth hung open in shock when I saw the unconscious bodies of two of the witches we were looking for, Asteria and Magenta.
"Are they… dead?" I asked when I could feel no signs of life from them, not even a faint heartbeat, and they seemed to be looking so old with their wrinkled skins and gray hair.
"That… that's…so… dope, woman." I heard Blair remark, and I followed her gaze up above us. Then there, a younger-looking Hera hovering and smiling brightly at us, and I gulped.
Did she suck all her sisters' powers? Oh, hell, no.
"Surprised? Hmm, don't be. Those two were both pains in my ass. I have waited for this moment, you know? Later on, I could be my husband's only wife, and we will rule together, powerful and unnerving." Hera said and slowly descended near the lying dead body on the stone table, and I could feel her aura had certainly gotten stronger. She really is horrendous for killing her sisters for power. What an awful creature.
When I was about to move to attack her, I suddenly got stuck on where I stood. And I looked down my feet and found that the concrete seemed to be wet and had swallowed my leg up to my core, and it hardened again.
"Well, well, well, you shouldn't go anywhere, Your Majesties. We are not yet done. You wouldn't want to know what I could do to your loved ones once you try to escape from here." She warned and waved her left hand, and I didn't waste a second to teleport out of the pit she put me in. And I was successful as I shifted into my human-vampire form and levitated to keep my feet off the living monster ground, same as Blair. This witch must have now possessed her other sisters' power of controlling earth, air, and probably water included.
"Any plans, Cupcake?" Blair asked me, and I tried to think of a good one.
"Smash?" I suggested, and I heard my girl chuckle. "Nice one. Let's go!"
As Blair created a ball of fire using her energy, I shifted into my beast form to block Hera's flying logs, bricks, and other debris our way using my big furry arms and thick skin.
When I was about to punch a barrel-sized rock drifting near my face, I noticed a force field around me, and I knew my mate made it to protect me from any attacks of the chanting evil witch. I smiled at her to thank her, and she winked at me.
I held myself not to laugh when I saw Hera's priceless reaction when she noticed her dead sisters held both her shoulders from behind to restrain her, and I believe my girl did something to them. That's pretty awesome.
"Haha! Now, let's see what you can do!" Blair grinned and kept the powerful witch busy defeating her zombie sisters, and the flying objects and the living ground finally were gone.
"Blair, we need to do something about that dead body, or the crystal ball, or the moon," I told my mate when she teleported inside the force field she made for me, and she did a thinking face.
"Yeah, right. If I couldn't be successful in getting a hand on any of those first two things you mentioned, we might need help for the latter one. You know who I have in mind. I'll keep Hera busy, and you'll go, okay?" She said, and I couldn't agree more with the plan of teleporting to someone's house to call for help.
And as I was about to shift into my human-vampire form, I suddenly felt pain on my back.
Then Blair looked up at me in the eyes as I held her left shoulder, and her gaze fell on my chest when I kneeled as my knees went weaker.
"Pryce! No! Oh, no! Not again." She panicked when she noticed the silver blade that was stricken from behind me that almost hit her, too.
I could feel blood spurt out my wound when the sword was moved by force to make the cut bigger down my abdomen and was pulled out.
"No, no, no, please! No! Pryce!" My mate looked at me in horror as she cried, and I gripped her shirt when I was slowly shifting into my human form without my control. And she caught me in her arms before I fell.
I can't speak, and I can barely breathe while pain, shock, anger, despair, resentment, and a lot else are the sensations I could feel.
Right now, I could see Blair scream in agony, just like how she did when she was under an illusion spell, but it is way worse. This is reality and an awful actuality.
