Chapter 48 - Havoc
*Blair Claudette Cavanaugh’s POV*
---
“No! You cannot do this to me! You are going to pay---” Hera screamed in anger when her energy ball attack bounced back onto her, making her kneel when she was hit on her belly, but I cut her off, saying, “Hold up, Old Lady. Who’s the bad guy here? I don’t remember being kidnapped, tortured, and threatened with death was a bad deed. I mean… We were your victims. You should be the one paying the price you cost us.”
I crossed my arms on my chest as I stood three meters close to where she was, imprisoned by the circle of salt, and she tried to send another attack by making a rock fly to my face, but it just shattered the moment it touched the boundary.
“You killed my family! You took everything from me!” She belted and made some roots of the plants near her grow monstrously, and then she sent them our way, yet the same thing happened. You might be so powerful, but we are smarter than you. I mean, my mate is smarter.
She screamed in hostility and made another energy ball that she would throw at us.
She doesn't learn, eh?
“Me? Killer? Oh, yes! I don't deny that. But… should I trace back all the awful things that your people and your husband did to me, my mate, and our family? Should I enumerate them one by one so that you would know? I have a horrible memory, but I can remember them so well, crystal clear. May I begin? One, betraying and killing my mate’s previous life, Alcatraz, and then Pryce; next, killing Margarette Kendall, who I know is nothing like you, even though you are related by blood; thirdly, imprisoning Alison for half a millennium. One more… Damien killed me, also. What else? Ooh, he started a war with the other supernatural races about two-three hundred years ago, causing the death of my father’s family; as well as my mom’s; another, your organization killed a lot of innocent people with your stupid hunts in the past, and I don’t know if you’ve done such even now, yet I’m quite sure about that. Lastly, you killed your sisters. What the fudge is wrong with you? You are the most selfish, ugly, pathetic being I have ever met. I'm sorry for the harsh words, but it’s all true, Hera.” I ranted and saw in her face that it doesn’t seem to change her viewpoint, and I don’t know what would.
I felt my mate rest a hand on my right shoulder, and I let out a deep sigh to keep my cool. Then I didn’t let the evil witch speak another word as I needed to tell her one more thing before I would do what was necessary.
“No one wins in a war, Ma’am. We all lost people important to us. And we should find a way to live with it—no other better choice. Well, yes, it could be possible to bring back a life through black magic, but come to think of it… Why would you do so? Destroy the cycle of life? What do you want to achieve? Power? Respect? Be feared by many? What for? To make everybody your enemy? That’s a ridiculous choice of lifestyle, honestly. It's kinda… hellish. You know that?” I said with all truth, sincerity, and a heavy heart, and the woman only laughed at me.
The fudge? She thinks it’s funny, huh?
“Are you done with your speech of wisdom, Princess?” She asked me while wearing a victorious grin on her face, and I contemplated shaking or nodding my head in response. But I nodded and replied, “Yep. Pretty much. For now. I can actually do it all night till dawn. But I am hungry for human food, and I badly need sleep. So, yeah, any last words?”
“You talk too much, Your Highness. You talk too much.” She uttered with a knowing, evil-looking, creepy smile, and I looked at her, my eyebrows meeting each other as I felt she was trying to play a game. Shouldn’t she beg for her life by now? I mean, she had no escape. I could kill her with just a snap of two of my fingers.
And I suddenly felt my mate become bothered and looking around us.
“What’s wrong, Honey-bee?” I asked her, and she seemed really anxious now.
Pryce looked at me and held my hand, and then she talked to me using telepathy. “Donald’s body is gone. And look at the crystal ball. It’s broken, Blair. He must have come to life. Damien.”
It took me a few seconds to understand what she said, and I bit my lower lip and nodded my head lightly.
“Well... that’s… fudge,” I whispered and gulped when I found what my girl wanted me to see. The body is gone, and the crystal ball that contains Damien's soul has broken down into pieces.
I closed my eyes to sharpen my senses to try to find the aura of the enemy who had just risen.
How in the world did it happen?
“Release my queen, you little brats!”
We heard a man’s familiar, deep voice behind us, and when Pryce and I looked around, we saw him hovering while holding my cousin’s neck with his sharp werewolf claws. His eyes were red, and I indeed could sense a vampire aura from him, as well as a witch’s, a human’s, and a werewolf’s.
No, it can’t be! He did get my mate’s blood run in his veins. This isn't good!
“Cassie!” Pryce yelled, and, quickly, she shifted into her beast form to jump twenty feet from the ground, yet they disappeared as Damien could teleport like how royal vampires could.
My mate didn't land on the ground as she teleported to where could the a**hole had gone with my cousin or somewhere else.
I was too shocked to react, and when I heard Hera laugh, my left hand uncontrollably sent her a fireball, making her shut up as she was hit on her chest. She fell on her butt, but she got up quickly and levitated as if she were waiting and excited to be freed.
“I am not going to say it again. Let. Hera. Go.” Damien is now inside the circle of salt with Hera while Sander’s been trying hard to prevent his claws from digging deep in her flesh, yet I could see her blood dripping down her chest and arms.
“No! Sander, hang on! I’m going to do something, alright? I’ll save you.” I panicked as I tried to think of a solution to get my cousin out of danger, yet I know, we know that she’s in a very sh*tty situation. She can’t speak and can barely breathe or move.
Think, brain, come on!
“Welcome back, darling! I’m so happy to see you again.” Hera greeted the half-naked man, and they lip-locked like lovesick morons.
Pryce appeared beside me, breathing heavily, and she shifted into her vampire form. I looked her in the eyes, asking about something she must have planned or just anything.
I don’t want to lose my only cousin. She should be out in this mess.
The man looked at us, smirking and emphasizing my cousin’s bleeding neck.
“Let her go! It’s me you want, Damien! Fine, I’ll let Hera go, but let go of my cousin first!” I bartered, desperate, as I could see the pain that showed on Sander’s face.
“Blair… No, do… don’t….” My cousin stuttered, and I felt Pryce hold my right hand. I know she must have a plan by now, but we need to act fast.
“Listen, Blair. You must do it now. And here’s a plan.” My mate said to me in my head, and I nodded in reply. I hope it will work.
“Aright, Damien. Step out of the circle. This is going to be… this will take a few moments. But promise me that you are going to let Cassandra go. She has nothing to do with the conflict we had.” I told him, and he looked at me with a dubious face.
“Mmm. Okay. I promise.” He replied, yet I know he won’t. People like him never keep their word. And so I will. I have no other option.
“Great! Let me begin with undoing the spell. And... Hera, you might need to close your eyes. You wouldn’t want salt getting into your eyes, right?” I said, trying to do a rehearsal in my head on how I would do such witchcraft that I have no knowledge about. I guess that not performing well in class could cause me death, and not just me, but the people dear to me, also. My mother would be so disappointed. But I know this is how I can learn some important witchy stuff. Yes, the hard and painful way.
The man did what I told him, and Hera smiled, and I closed my eyes as well to concentrate.
I thought of the runes I needed to draw. And with the help of what I saw earlier from my mate’s mind, I know I can do this. But… How would I draw a damn rune, many of them? I am so dumb. I know. Just wish me luck.
Then I turned my head to Pryce to ask for help since I felt lost at the third one that I needed to create. And I only need nine. Yes, only nine, and that's a lot.
“Babe, hold me, please. Let me see those again.” I whispered, and her cold left hand touched my nape.
I could see in my peripheral vision that Damien had been watching our every move, and I needed to make sure that I could do this trick flawlessly. My cousin’s life is at stake, and I need a lot of help after this.
I closed my eyes while trying to connect with my mate's consciousness, and I finally got them.
“Got it,” I mumbled and proceeded to memorize the stroke of the fourth rune and so on until the ninth.
When I opened my eyes and saw something on the ground, my left eyebrow raised as I had recognized those shiny things were the arrowheads and bullets that I had melted earlier from the attacks of the werewolves outside my wall of fire. Hmm. My brain has finally suggested something useful.
I used telekinesis to collect them, and I made the metal pieces float near my chest. Then I built a fire with my hands around them to melt them again to become one. I tried to mold it into small shapes with the best I could remember are how the runes look like.
Finally, I gave a look to my cousin, and she nodded her head once, seeming like she knew what symbols I had just done and what was the next thing we would do.
Let’s get rid of the bad witch first because it would be hard for us to defeat them if there were two extra-powerful entities we needed to conquer. Luckily, he didn’t have the chance to have my abilities through sipping my blood, or else we would be broke as hell.
“Are you ready, Hera? Watch out for the salt.” I asked and warned, and Damien replied to me, “You better not mess it up, Princess. Or else… you know what will happen to this useless witch in my hold. A head will roll for sure.”
“I know,” I answered, and when I had felt sudden strong auras of the newcomers, I released to Hera’s way the burning metal I created in a flash even before anyone could move another muscle.
A scream of pain echoed, and I know I did a great job of planting runes inside Hera’s body. I might have gone a bit too far by inscribing the symbols on her large bones-- the skull, two legs, chest, arms, spine, pelvis, and one a her right palm. It is, of course, painful and irrevocable as I am not as stupid as they were in not doing as such to me earlier. She will suffer for quite some time, but at least I didn’t kill her. That's the nicest thing she could get from me.
Then I glanced at where my cousin was, and I saw how a silver spear was stabbed on Damien’s chest from behind. Pryce quickly teleported to get my injured cousin from his hold, and I smiled sweetly at the man who just winked at me.
“Nice one, Dad! Thanks for coming!” I said, and he held Damien on his shoulder hard and prevented him from teleporting while blood kept coming out his mouth.
Mhmm. My mate did invite my parents to join the fun.
“No worries, Little One,” Dad replied, and he pulled out the spear from the monster's chest, and I saw how Damien healed the wound slowly.
“Draco! It’s good... to… see you... again.” Damien uttered while trying to escape from my father’s hold, and I saw he waved his hand, and he formed a sharp ice sword. And then I noticed the sky got darker, and it started to rain hard. Of course, he got Donald’s witch powers. But no, it would kill the fire around us.
Damien used telekinesis to send some ice blades my way, but I built a force field quickly to block his attack.
“Claude! Help your mother with the puppies outside. Leave this bastard to me.” My father ordered, but I shook my head and said, “No. Help Mom and leave him to me, Dad. We have unfinished business together.”
My father shook his head, saying, “Nope. He’s too strong. Let me finish this mess.”
I blinked my eyes, looking at him, and I now knew where I got my stubborn, sunny personality.
“No. Let me. I know what to do with him.” I sternly said, and the enemy just laughed.
I looked at the wall of fire I made that slowly died, and when I got a glimpse of my mother fighting a few werewolves alone, I let out a breath and closed my eyes.
“Fudge! I can’t use my firepower. Stupid rain.” I cursed and turned to look at the men exchanging attacks before me. Well, I think they are doing just fine. I should let my old man enjoy it for a while.
Then I tried to find my mate’s aura and my cousin’s, but I couldn't. Damn, I wish they are somewhere far away and safe now.
I heard someone groaning, and I looked at the powerless Hera curling on the dirty ground and crying her heart out.
Oh, it must have been the salt mixed with water now that touched her fresh wounds. I precisely told her to watch out for the salt. She can't blame me. I gave her a warning, and it was her mate who made rain. So, I'm not that violent.
As I had nothing else to do, I teleported to my mother's location to help her out, but what I found made my mouth hang open in shock.
