Chapter 50 - Never Surrender
*Blair Claudette Cavanaugh's POV*
---
“What’s the matter, Blair?” Pryce asked me, and I just showed her a sheepish smile.
“Ugh, don’t bother telling me. I know you don't know how to do such a spell. Thankfully, we have you witch queen mother here to help us.” She sighed in a bit of frustration, and we both teleported to where my mom was to ask for help.
We saw how the Queen of the Nwitches and the Vampire King fought the dominating hybrid challenger, and we took my mother’s attention to share our plan with her.
She came closer to us, asking if we were okay. Then I let her read my mind to tell her what we wanted her to do secretly, and she nodded her head.
“Great one, girls. I’m on it.” Mom remarked and made the crystal float between her palms while murmuring something in Latin.
Oh, I wish I knew more about witchcraft and not just all bullcrap. Sheesh, I promise I will perform well in school soon if we get through this dilemma. I absolutely need to be more responsible and a role model, being the princess of both my races. I don’t want to be such a disappointment to anybody.
I looked at where the two furious men was, who were exchanging attacks, and Pryce shifted into her wolf form to help my father fight Damien.
We only need to make this charmed crystal touch Damien’s skin for it to belong to him. But I know it’s better to plant it inside him to give him a hard time taking it out and destroying it, just like what I did to Hera with the runes.
“Claude, are you ready?” I heard my mother ask, and I nodded my head and took the crystal with me.
When I saw the perfect timing, seeing how the desperate hybrid monster got a quite flabbergasting blow on the jaw from the purple-eyed gray beast, which is my mate, I immediately closed my eyes. And using teleportation with superspeed, I arrived in front of the enemy in a flash. And I punched Damien on the stomach so hard that made my fist stuck through his flesh, and I let go of the crystal before I pulled out my hand.
“Eurgh! That was horrifyingly disgusting!” I cursed as I shook my right hand off his blood and some flesh, and hopefully, I had not pulled any of his intestines. Then, later on, I saw how he slowly shifted into his human form while shock and pain were clearly painted on his face.
To make it a little bit lovely, I used a healing spell to make his massive wound heal. And so, he could feel less pain. This is the kindest I could do for him, even though he was so mean to us. I'm not that violent anymore.
“No! No, this is not happening!” He cried, kneeling on the ground while he clutched his abdomen, and I also heard Hera screaming from afar. “No!”
“Oh, yes, it is, Damien. It is happening! My weakness is your weakness. Just admit it. You can never bend fate by leading a rebellion. And I think… it’s over now… for you.” I declared, and the look on his face is of pure chaos. He was about to attack me with the twig he got in his hold, but my mate held him down, making her claws dig deep into his bare shoulders, and now it's bleeding. He screamed in pain, and Pryce let him go.
“Surrender, Damien! And the Supernatural Council will be the one to judge you.” My father asserted, panting and wiping off blood from the left side of his lips.
I stood before the broken man, and my mother went closer to us with Hera restrained in her hold.
“No! You can never defeat me, weaklings!” He belted, and I pursed my lips to hold my laughter.
Can’t he see it? He is sh*tless now. There is no way he could defeat us. We are family, and together, we are stronger. We will do our best to protect one another and the people that look up to us.
The helpless Damien ran a distance from us, but he tripped when I used telekinesis to make a rock block his way. He fell to the ground, and I noticed he reached for something near him. It’s a sword, the silver sword. And he pointed it to us.
“Damien, stop it! Just surrender! Please! We will still be together… even though we are like this… as humans. Please!” Hera cried while begging him as she knew they stood no more chance on us. And I understand what she wanted, to live a normal life being normal people. We could give that to them. Well, after they could get over with their sentence for the crimes they did.
Damien let out a scoff and shook his head.
“No! I would never! I’d never kneel before you! All of you! You don’t deserve my respect! I’d rather die again!” He yelled in animosity, and what he did next caused us to gasp in horror.
“No! Damien!” Hera screamed at the top of her lungs when her husband stabbed himself at his chest… to death. And his blood is now streaming down from his wound to the ground.
Geez! Why would he do such a thing? He just proved that he is more than a loser.
“No!” The widowed woman kept crying, and we felt sorry seeing her witness her mate’s death.
After a moment of a heartbreaking moment from our enemies, we heard Hera speak. “Kill me. Please.”
I let out a sigh, and looked at my parents and back to the helpless woman.
I know she wants to suffer less and be with the love of her life, whom she would do anything just to please him.
Aw, it's so romantic… but a tragic love story. A Romeo and Juliet style.
Well, even though they are selfish, evil, ruthless, and have many more ugly attitudes, they deserve to live… or not. I know death could be one way to lose, but it could also be a way to be free. Either way, we’ll leave this matter to the adults here, especially now that my cousin has arrived together with the current werewolf Queen, Alison.
I smiled when I felt my mate hug me from behind and kiss my head.
“It’s finally over, Blair.” She whispered in my left ear, and I hugged her back tightly.
“Yep. Finally! We did it! I told you we would be a great team. But of course, with a lot of help from everyone here. You were so so so damn awesome, Pumpkin.” I replied and broke off from the gesture, and I looked at her happy red eyes. I was about to pull her in for a kiss, but I heard loud applause from one of the newcomers. I looked at them, and they both hurried to us.
“You’re both late for the party.” I greeted them with my biggest smile, and I opened my arms to let Sander hug me. Choke me, I mean.
“Oh, Blairie, Prycie! You are safe! Oh, gosh! Thank goodness!” She rejoiced with a broken voice and held me tighter.
“Yeah, we’re fine. I’m glad you are okay now.” I replied and hugged her, too, and I saw Alison embrace my mate, thanking her that she was alright. Everyone’s okay, except for the ones who died and committed suicide.
I looked around the dead bodies of Damien, Magenta, Asteria, and a couple of werewolves, and I knew I had a part to play. I should burn them to ashes.
“Your Highness, please! Kill me if that’s the price I need to pay. In that way, I could be with my family again. So, please. Kill me now!”
I heard Hera beg my mother, making us all look in their way.
“No. I know exactly what to do with you, Hera. I’ll make the Supernatural Council and the Northern Witches’ Council decide with me, and I will be the one to give you what you deserve. Don’t worry. We won’t hurt you.” The queen assured her, and she kneels before her superior while still crying.
I think I know what my mom wants to do. That tone of voice she just used sounds like she’s giving Hera a chance for redemption, just like all the unconscious army of rebel werewolves around here.
After my mother revoked the sleeping spell she applied on the majority of the werewolf population here, she gave Ali the opportunity to make them recognize she is their leader as they remembered nothing about being here.
And when I noticed everything seemed going great, I held my mate’s right hand and brought it to my lips to kiss it.
“Can we go home now, Cupcake? I’m hungry, thirsty, and sleepy. I also want cuddles.” I asked her and pouted my lips, and she looked at me with a knowing face.
“Just cuddles?” She asked while smirking, and I nodded my head in response and smiled so wide.
“Yep, just cuddles. I’m cool with that. But if you could offer more… then I’d be more than happy to accept it. Like... a shower together? Or something else? Yes? Mmm. That's wonderful!” I answered, feeling so glad that we could finally go home and have a good time with each other, and she chuckled softly in response.
We both looked at my cousin when she stopped us when we were about to teleport back home.
“Hold on a second, you two! Where do you think you are going?” She asked and held both our shoulders, and I answered her, “We are going to a place where you are not there.”
“Ahahaha, very funny, Blairie. But, no! You cannot go anywhere yet. Prycie, are you forgetting something?” Sander mocked me and turned to her best friend, who seemed oblivious about what she was talking about.
“I… I don’t know, Cassie. What is it?” Pryce asked, and I am eager to know what it is, too. She better not mess with us. We have been through a lot, and we deserve a fantastic rest.
“Hmm, fine. I’ll tell you. It's your first Hunt tonight, isn't it?” She said, and we made an oh face of realization as it really slipped in our minds… intentionally. Can we get enough sightings and smell of blood and flesh for a moment? I’m about to go insane, really.
“Hey, Cass. It’s okay.” Alison joined in our conversation after talking to the crowd, and she looked at us.
“We can skip her first Hunt now. She can do it next month, and together with the coronation. It’s about time.” The werewolf queen asserted, making my mate react, “No. Why? No. Ali, I’m not ready. I still need to---”
“No. I know you are, Pryce. You are more than ready. It's time they should know and witness the return of their true leader.” Ali said and proudly smiled at her rightful queen.
Pryce let out a nervous sigh, and I held her hand in mine and faced her.
“She’s right, Pryce. You are ready. We all know that. Don’t worry, Babe. You still have a month to accept the reality of what you are meant to be. And I’ll be with you through it all.” I cheered her up, and she lightly nodded her head and licked her lips.
“Fine. Okay. I’m ready.” She answered, making us breathe in relief.
Alison is right. She is more than ready. She is born ready as it is what she should be, her destiny. And I will always be beside her.
“So… that means… Can we go home now?” I asked our family around with a high hope that they would let us.
And when we got our permission to leave, I closed my eyes to teleport with the love of my life back to our home.
I opened my eyes and almost jumped out of surprise when I saw what was in our living room.Download Novelah App
