Chapter 22 Love From the Next Door: Part 2

I heaved a sigh. This is one of the reasons why I do not like children, particularly infants. As the youngest of my siblings, I was never taught how to properly care for a child, which is one of the reasons I was never very good with children. I'm not denying the fact that babies can be really cute, but I can only say it if they are calm. It is quite frustrating when they start to wail and shriek like that. That's why I want my future husband to be patient and kind with the kids, because otherwise I might end myself in jail for abusing them.
I just assumed for a short period that baby was getting quieter, but it turns out that my assumptions were wrong. The sound of the fussing baby simply got louder, which rendered it hard to proceed with the recording. I put an end to the recording before calling through the glass, "Could you please make that baby be quiet? I can't take the noise any longer!”
To my surprise, a tall figure with shiny black stepped out of the house next door while holding the wailing infant in his arms. I figured he was about the same age as me based on the way he looked. As soon as our gazes connected, a grin broke out on his face.
"I truly apologise! The baby actually missed her folks," The sound of his deep voice yelling across the fence caused my heart to skip a beat.
"Where are her mum and dad?" I asked.
“They were out enjoying dinner together!” He voiced the thought aloud. "I'm the younger brother of her father and for some reason I've been called upon to take care of their children,"
I was taken aback and asked, "Children?," while raising my eyebrows in disbelief.
He groaned and confirmed, "Yes, this baby is not the only child that they have." "There are three more kids at home,"
Oh, my heavens! Just by hearing that, my mind is able to picture the whole chaos that those children caused. I just can't contain my interest any longer. "Why did you say yes to taking care of those kids?"
"What did you mean by saying that? Because they are my adorable nieces and nephews, there is no way I could say no to taking care of them.” He responded with a tone of shock in his voice.
"By the way, if you don't have anything to do right now, you're welcome to come over. We are going to get together and play cards. The more people there are, the more fun it will be!” He shrieks with delight.
"No, I despise children," is the response I give just before drawing the curtain.
"Are you certain? We have chocolate chip cookies and milk!"
"Do you think that I'm a child?"I am enraged.
He was giggling to himself as he shifted the position of the infant in his arm. “But in all seriousness, just head on over here. After spending time with them, you will undoubtedly develop a fondness for the children.
I can't help but feel anxious as I stare at him. Having fun with the young ones? Should I...?
In spite of all the bad ideas that were running through my head, I unintentionally started walking towards my table, put my phone in my pocket, and exited my room. After what seemed like only a few minutes, I found myself standing in front of the house of my neighbour.
The man who emerged from the shadows behind the door said, "I knew you would come." "Come in," they said.
"Where is the baby?"
"Already sleep in her cot," was his response to my question.
"Ouh," I said as I landed on the wooden floor of the house. This is not the first time that I have been inside of this home. It was during their house warming event that I went to visit the first time. That was 5 years ago.
The atmosphere inside the house during the housewarming event was really chaotic. There was so much noise and disorder everywhere.
The air was filled with the sound of children's ear-piercing shrieks and frenzied laughter. There were three children, aged 7, 5, and a 1-year-old baby, who were creating a chaotic symphony of noise. The sound of their footsteps was so loud that it felt like the whole house was shaking. It was like a constant, destructive beat.
The living room was in complete chaos, making it difficult to even recognise. It looked like a total mess, with things scattered everywhere and no sense of order. The guests were having a hard time talking to each other because of all the noise. They were trying their best to speak up, but it was difficult to be heard over the chaos. The kids were running around the room without a care, bumping into furniture and people, and their loud laughter mixed with the hushed conversations.
In the midst of the lively housewarming party, the parents of three energetic children felt a combination of guilt and exhaustion. Their faces showed a sincere apology, with a heavy sense of responsibility for the chaotic situation. As they hurriedly moved about, trying to find a way to have fun at the party while also keeping their kids under control, they couldn't help but feel tired.
Their care for the guests was clear, and at one point, the parents went up to a group of guests and apologised from the bottom of their hearts. "We apologise sincerely for the chaos," they said, their voices filled with genuine remorse. “We didn't expect things to get so crazy. We kindly ask for your patience.”
However, the guests, who were also parents, responded with empathy and kindness. They smiled empathetically and assured the parents that there was no need to apologise. "Oh, don't worry about it," one guest laughed, dismissing their concerns. “We understand what it's like to have young children around. This is just one aspect of the joyful celebration!”
