Chapter 7 Below the Spring Breeze: Part 3
Mean by that, I thought I will going to meet his parents but it looks like otherwise. "Dorothy, I told you it's fine," my mother get rid of the spinach from my grip. "You should treasure your hand from now." The dark cloud is all over my face. I was excited that finally I came back here after a year and that was on their face too. But since I came, there's nothing I can do in this house. I can't go greet the cows and can't even be in the kitchen. "You should stay with your husband," It's not like I don't want to but I know this thing will happen. "Ummmmmm...It's been 1 hour now.." I said it slowly to him. He was holding me tight in his arm while we were on the bed. "So?" He hugged me tighter. "An hour is a short time compared to a year," He will never let me get off now. I look up at his fair face. He's pale. Was he that tired? I touch the sharp line below his jaw. He's been losing some weight too. Is it because he missed me? I read that if the person in love with someone they have some side effects like not having an appetite to eat if they missed their love too much. Does he? How can someone who just met me can love me this soon? We barely know anything about each other. I only peek at him from the kitchen door until the day of our wedding. I'm still wondering why he willingly marries me. "Dorothy.. what are you doing?" he asked in a half awake. My mind has been lost too far that I didn't realise I was unbuttoned his collar. "N-nothing! I thought you might get hot in this room, s-so I- " "Can you wait until night, my dear? I'm too tired now," he cut my words before giving a kiss on my head. I-It's not like that! _________ "You still didn't tell me, why you want to marry me?" I patted his head on my lap. His dark hair is so soft as it moved smoothly between my fingers. It's beautiful. He was humming cheerfully on my lap before he stopped for my sudden question. "Should I answer that?" He looks at me. "I'll sleep at the barn this night if you don't want to," I provoked him. He sighed. "All right, I'll tell you," "It was about 3 years ago, I joined my father to visit the construction site nearby this village and that's how I saw you for the first time," he turns his back to the right. "Are you not comfortable?" I asked. The ground may be grumpy for him to lie on. He smiles. "I am, but remember that my head on your lap makes me forgot about it," I pinched his cheeks. This man always knows how to make flustered. He laughed before continuing his story. "At that time, you were helping an old lady in the market. I'm sure that she's is too old to be your mother and I don't think she's your grandma since you called her ' ma 'am '. So asked people around about you." He stopped. "Then, what did they told you?" I wondered. "Telling a story makes me exhausted," he sighed " I need extra energy, so kiss me," "How can that give you energy?" I asked curiously. "Ok then, no story," he sulks. He moved his finger as if he zipped his mouth telling me he not going to tell anymore. Why this guy..?! Urghhh... I mistook him for a mature guy but I guess it only on the outside! I sighed before lower down my head to meet his. "You improved," he grinned as soon my lips move from him. "A year without me you must be practicing a lot," "J-just shut up and continue the story," I flustered. He gets up from his lie and sits facing me. He kisses my cheek before continuing his words. "You a girl with a big heart. You stop going to school because you said you got no brain to study. I thought only delinquents will do that, but not you. Instead of taking care of your beauty, you willingly clean the horse turds at the stable to help your family," he said. "At least that was people tell me," "You want to go to school right?" He patted my head. "You said you got no brain but Linda told me you got quite a high mark in your test," He knows it. Eyes please. Don't let out your tears. At least not in front of him. He pulled me into his chest. "You willingly sacrifice your life for your parents. That attracts me to know you more," He touched my heart. Indeed, I did well in my studies when I'm in primary school. But how can I continue my middle school when my parent can't afford to buy me even the uniform? "Did you purposely help my parents to get me?" he reminded to the first day I saw him in our house. "No, I didn't know they were your parents at first," he denied "That time I know it was fate that met us," My face turns red. I never thought of anything like love and fate before. What I thought all these times is to make sure my parents are happy. He pulled me to stand straight. "I never propose properly to you right?" He kneels with his hand holding mine. "Dorothy Mcbeth, would you marry me?" With warm tears dripping down my eyes, I reply, "Y-yes, I do,"
