50. David's Cousin
Martha and Daniel are busy, the couple is flooded with orders for flower bouquets. At that time, they got married two months after Matias and Nivea. This huge order of bouquets was from the royal family. Soon, Princess Nicole will be holding her grand wedding to Prince George.
The courtyard of Martha's flower stall was filled with fresh flowers that had just been delivered from the farm. Daniel and Mr. Luigi worked together to move the flowers into the kiosk.
In the center of the stall, a beautiful woman with her hair in a ponytail was sitting on a rug. She was concentrating on her handiwork in arranging the flowers.
"Daniel! You're too close to putting these flower ties on me. I can't move."
"Ah, right! Sorry. I'll move them." while stepping very carefully to move a few bunches of flowers that were too close to Martha's body.
"You're tired, Daniel! Take a rest first. I brought some lemonade here. Take it from the kitchen. Please tell Mr. Luigi to get some too. You must be thirsty."
"Ah, of course Martha! Do I need to help you with another flower arrangement?"
"Hmm. Later, Daniel! After this, I'll go check on the flowers that just arrived."
Martha still continued with her activities, the woman was still very meticulous about in doing her job. She always wants her customers to be satisfied, with the results of her flower arrangements.
After a few long minutes, finally a beautiful flower arrangement was finally there. Martha still has to arrange a few more pieces of the same style and color, because this flower arrangement will be used as decoration in every corner of the palace.
Martha sighed, she looked at the wooden clock that stood firmly in the corner of her stall room. She got up when she realized that the sun was very high outside.
"Daniel, where are you?"
"I'm out front, Martha!" he shouted.
Martha stepped very carefully so as not to step on the group of flowers that she hadn't time to examine. She walked over to Daniel, who was sitting on a chair on the porch of her kiosk.
"Where's Mr. Luigi?"
"I asked him to buy some sweet bread."
"Ah, I see. I came here to invite you to have lunch at home."
"Hmm. Is there still time if we go back to the house after Mr. Luigi comes?"
"How? Hmm. I haven't checked the flowers yet. I'm afraid there's not enough, Daniel. Did you ask Mr. Luigi to buy more bread?"
"Of course! I also asked him to buy some sponge cake."
"Ah, then we don't have to go back home. Let's just eat bread, Daniel!"
"Yes! After we eat the bread, we can continue arranging the flowers. Relax I'm always here to help you!"
"Thank you, Daniel! I'm so lucky to have you." she replied with an a big smile.

A horse-drawn carriage was passing between the rows of buildings that were not too high. The atmosphere along the street was calm, with only a few people seemed to be on foot. And occasionally the horse-drawn carriages that passed each other had to pull over, one of them making way for the other to pass first.
The carriage was carrying Nivea and her personal servant, who else if not Seri. Currently, they were heading to her bakery.
And a few hours later.
"Seri, it's been years since you've seen me make bread dough. Aren't you interested in making bread?" she asked while gyrating her waist.
"Ah, no ma'am!"
"No? Hmm. I thought you were interested enough to try it yourself."
"No ma'am! I don't seem to have the talent for it anyway."
"Then what is your talent?"
"I don't know, ma'am!"
"Hahaha, you're so funny Seri!"
Their conversation was interrupted for a while, as Nivea had to serve a customer who came in and ordered her bread to go.
"Are you tired of making bread already, ma'am?" Seri continued when the customer had walked away.
"What? Tired? Why would you say such a thing, Seri?"
"Ah, I just assumed."
"I want you to be able to bake bread so that one day, it can be useful for yourself, Seri."
"Hmm? How does that mean, ma'am?"
"Well, it's possible that when you get tired of working for me, you'd want to start your own business. And you, could start by selling the bread that you made."
"Is it actually you who's tired of me, ma'am?"
"Hahaha. You're really good at making jokes, Seri! I have no reason to be bored with you."
Not long after, another customer entered the bakery. The man with a cowboy hat and black shirt, seemed to be having a bit of trouble making his choice.
"Ah, bread with chocolate jam inside is very popular in this shop, sir. You can try it." Nivea said promoting the bread.
Seri immediately got up from her seat behind the display case, when she realized who the man standing there. As if losing her mind, Seri shifted and stood up until she was very close to Nivea's body.
"Ah, you are Mr. Douglas." accompanied by a suspicious smile.
Her behavior really made Nivea widen her eyes at her. Nivea who didn't understand, was astonished.
The man bowed slightly in greeting to Seri. "Ah, you're here, Miss Seri?" he returned Seri's smile.
Nivea chose to slowly retreat from beside Seri. Letting the girl serve the man's order. She waited in the kitchen, until Seri was done with her task.
"What's taking so long, are there that many orders?" she grumbled to herself, which was heard by Clara.
"Hmm? Who's the ma'am?"
"Ah, that. That young man. It seems that he knows Seri quite well. He's been standing there." she replied as she stretched her neck, probing ahead.
"I'll take these buns to the display case, ma'am." holding up the her wooden tray.
"Hmm. Alright Clara!"
"Did you check the fruits on the side, David?"
"Of course, ma'am! I'll go to the market tomorrow."
Clara was back, she then told Nivea about something that she knew. "Ma'am! That young man is Mr. Douglas. He's David's cousin."
David turned to Clara, while Nivea looked at David.
"Is he coming, Clara?"
"Yes, he was here earlier but has now left!"
"Did you introduce Seri specifically to your cousin, David?"
"Of course, ma'am! It seems Douglas is interested in Seri."
"What? Since when... Ah! I mean, when did you introduce them?"
"Hmm. As I recall, ma'am wasn't in the shop when Douglas came here."
"Ah, is your cousin a good person David? Ah, sorry that's not it. I mean... should we be supportive if your cousin approaches Seri?"
"Of course ma'am! We don't have to worry about anything. Douglas has recently worked at a government-owned wine estate."
"What? That means Matias knows your cousin?"
"Of course ma'am! Douglas works to help the estate manager with the finances. He's a trustworthy person."
"Ah, right. Since the finance worker was involved in a tax fraud, Mr. Carlos has been managing the estate's finances by himself for quite some time."
"Yes, because it is quite troublesome, the manager is looking for a new financial worker."
"Ah, since when has Mr. Douglas been working there?"
"Hmm. About three weeks ago, ma'am."
"Ah, well, then we should support them!" she said excitedly.Download Novelah App
