DARK HORSE: Never Once Became A Choice

Kierson was all tied up. Valenn was dragging him out of the mansion while Leon and Harvey were on their back — following them.
The whole mansion was a hodgepodge.
The shattered glasses caused by the bullets were scattered around. Most of the artifacts were broken. The paintings were hanging down and the chairs and tables were turned over. Harvey, Valenn, and Leon were wearing masks like a criminal.
“Stop dragging! I can walk!” Kierson shouted.
“We would want to let go because of your weight but it wouldn’t be believable if I let you walk there by yourself unscathed,” Leon replied.
Kierson’s eyes twitched. “What the hell are you planning?”
Valenn tsked. “I know that you’re still hoping for Vishnu to have a change of heart, Kierson. Before everything else, I’ll have to wake you from your delusions.”
“Are you kidding me? Untie me! Pronto!” Kierson struggled and tried to free himself from Valenn's grasp. He was also continuously cursing at them but the three didn’t mind.
“Gag his mouth,” Valenn ordered.
Dark, one of Kierson’s people, followed Valenn’s command and gagged Kierson's mouth using a piece of clean cloth. “I’m sorry, Sir, but I need to do this,” Dark apologized.
Kierson’s patience was wearing thin. He took a deep breath and glared at the three people. In the end, he sighed in defeat. He knows that he couldn't do anything about his dilemma because he was fettered. Moreover, if he tries to fight, he knows he couldn’t fight four people at once. He'll only dig his own grave.
Kierson let them drag him pathetically.
“If he chooses you this time, I will let you be happy with him, Kierson. And I would never be against your relationship with him." Valenn chuckled. “But I doubt he'd choose you. You'll never be Derrick, after all,” he added.
Kierson rolled his eyes. He wanted to punch Valenn at the moment. Rubbing salt at someone's wound seemed like Valenn’s hobby and it wasn’t helping him.
“I’ll tell you what the plan is,” Harvey announced.
Leon immediately refuted, “What?! I thought we’re gonna surprise him?”
Valenn snorted. “You already told him about his father! What's left there for a surprise?” he shouted.
Leon chuckled. “Right! I almost forgot. You may continue Harvey.”
Kierson looked at Harvey with a poker face. “Derrick is in our hands right now. The authority together with Vishnu invaded your estate to rescue him. Of course, we’re the ones who told Vishnu that you abducted Derrick,” Harvey said. “Look…” Derrick cupped Kierson's face. “We’re doing this for you. Vishnu is not someone you should love and I'm gonna prove it today.”
Kierson really wanted to punch Harvey. Just who the hell did he think he was to tell Kierson who he should love and who he shouldn't?
“That's enough drama,” Valenn stated. “We need to finish this.” He started dragging Kierson again.
As they got out of the mansion, the police authorities were already outside, surrounding the estate, pointing guns at them. Vishnu was in front, his eyes moving round and round.
Valenn pushed Kierson down.
Kierson's face was pale because of the episode attack of his mental illness that happened earlier. In Kierson’s peripheral vision, Derrick was also being pressed down by Dark.
Kierson sighed. Harvey was really planning to make Vishnu choose between him and Derrick.
And for what reason? Is it to make him realize that no matter what, Vishnu would never choose him?
Kierson pressed his lip. The result was pretty obvious. After Derrick showed up in their senior year, Vishnu kept on choosing Derrick that very day and it never changed. The top priority was always Derrick, while Kierson never once became a choice.
Kierson really thought that the insane one was him. It turned out that the people who schemed this were insane too. They were much worse than he was.
Harvey sighed before activating his voice changer. “It seemed like all the guests were already here.”
The police authorities got alerted, which made Harvey chuckle. “Worry not, dear servants of the dictatorial magistrate. I am not here to confront you, rather, I want Vishnu to come forward.”
Kierson struggled again. Seeing this, Leon pointed the gun at Kierson's head. “If you want to live, cooperate with us,” Leon warned.
Harvey continued, “I’ve been wanting to do this just like what you did before. Today, I’ll let you choose between these two people. Who do you wanna save, Mr. Oliveira?”
The police authorities positioned themselves, ready to attack.
Kierson clenched his jaw when Dark pointed the gun at Derrick who seemed lost in his thoughts.
“Tell me what you want! I'll give you everything! Just… please let both of them go!” Vishnu shouted.
What Vishnu said made Kierson smile. At least, Vishnu didn’t directly choose Derrick. At least, he tried saving him this time.
But the answer didn’t please Harvey. “You don’t seem to understand the question, Mr. Oliveira. Let me change the question for you…” Harvey smiled wryly. “Among them, who do you wanna die?”
Kierson looked at Harvey, Derrick, and finally, at Vishnu.
“It is a simple question. Wrong answer and I’ll kill them both,” Harvey declared.
Kierson knew that Vishnu wouldn’t choose him anyway so he closed his eyes. This time he wasn’t expecting anything from Vishnu. It was always like this.
He’ll never win against Derrick.
Vishnu gulped and looked at Kierson. Then he looked at Derrick who was in an unstable state. He sighed and glared at Harvey who was wearing a mask.
Harvey then impatiently asked, “Who among these two do you want to die, Vishnu?” Harvey’s lips twitched. “I’m not really patient, you see.”
“Please kill me ins…”
Harvey and Dark immediately acted like they were going to pull the trigger. Vishnu, in panic, immediately yelled, “Kierson.”
Harvey chuckled. “Who?”
“Soviet Kierson Ferrer.”
As if on cue, Harvey pulled the trigger. A loud gunshot was heard among police authorities and Kierson’s loyal people.
Vishnu looked at Harvey and then at Kierson. He felt his heart drop when he saw Kierson lying on the ground. Even though he wasn’t sure that Kierson and Jerson were the same people, seeing Kierson bathing with his own blood broke his heart. It was the same when he saw Jerson fall from the cliff five years ago.
He has the choice again yet he couldn’t choose Kierson and Jerson no matter what. He kept on choosing Derrick as if being manipulated.
Vishnu looked at the dead person again.
Kierson was lying down on the cemented ground, soaking wet with his own blood. He wasn’t doing anything. He wasn’t moving or even lifting a finger.
This time, all these people knew that Kierson, the ruthless master of the Ferrer, was really dead.
Vishnu kneeled on the ground. He was regretting his choice but he knew he shouldn't let Derrick die. He would regret it too if he lost Derrick.
But seeing Kierson lifeless, some part of him also withered.
“I heard you felt sorry when he fell on the cliff, Vishnu. But how could you choose the same person and throw him out again? Not to mention that you said you want him dead,” Leon stated with gritted teeth. “An apology without litigation is just manipulation.”
