Chapter 21: Articulating Things In The Moment

“You keep on releasing deep breaths for an hour, Nai.”
“Are you tired? You can leave me here alone?”
Jordan chuckled while she looked at him in astonishment. She made a huge deep exhalebefore resting her back on the cushion. It is soft, she snuggled her body towards it. Feeling the smoothness of it. It her somehow relaxed.
“You want a hug.” Jordan offered. She went closer and let her arms loose to wrap it around Jordan’s body.
“What happened?” He finally asked her his question. He is been wanting to ask her about what made her look stressed out. But he waited. He waited for her to calm down. And now that she is in his arms, it is an opportunity for him.
“Papa is acting horrible trying to capture the fox that is been stealing from his backyard. He looks stupidly engrossed that he will be able to catch it. I don’t know what to do with it. This is something that he obsessively does every day, you know-trying to trap the creature with the snare he sets up during dawn.
“Just let him do it, Nai. Stop stressing about it.” She looked upwards. Their eyes met. Nai liked what it made her feel- she holds her expression.
“But-that is the only thing he wants to do since he knew about it. It is distracting him from doing thingsthat are more important. If only you see the look on his face as he kept on telling me about it.”
“Should I offer my service to aid him?”
She shakes her head. It won’t do any good. She heard her father promised to himself that he will grasp the creature with his own hands. She finds it ridiculous. She wants to tell him to stop wasting his time but he looked too confident in himself that he will be able to accomplish his plan. Plus- the information she knew yesterday is consuming the space left inside her head.
“Thank for the cookies.” She hugged him tighter after he said that.
“Glad you like it. To be honest- I know that you’ll love it.” She boastfully uttered. She knew a lot about Jordan’s substantial taste.
“Remember during afternoons where we are allowed to have our snacks? Whenever, I open my lunch box- your eyes would immediately go towards it. Looking like you’re waiting for a surprise to pop out. I can still recall how your eyeballs grew big in anticipation to what I brought with me.
A few chuckles came out of Jordan’s mouth. He is caressing Nai’s head. Kissing the top of her head before saying; “Yes. You always bring deliciously looking ones. And when your hands bring it out- you made it looked savable. Making anyone to feel invited to palatably have a taste of it.”
Nai laughed- she can’t help herself doing that. Jordan has his own way of communicating his own words uniquely. The very reason she finds familiar- because she loves to have fun with the words she said too.
“I am not the only one who’s having the eyes to look at your food too. Almost half of our class is patiently waiting for you to open your snack- so they can ask you for a portion of it.” He added- sounding that he remembers the memory so well like it happened yesterday.
“There’s a lot of memories that I had- memories that have you in it.” She put a distinct space to look at his face as she slowly lifted her chin to see him. She smiled at him warmly. She is fighting the urge to lift her head closer so she can give his lips a peck. She ended up making her smile a lot bigger at the thought. When did she become that desperate to kiss someone without any feeling of being held back by her own mind?
Jordan gently patted her head before moving lowering his head for it to be closer to hers. “Those memories- do they make you feel better when it visited your mind? Does remembering the past with me in it- does it make you happy, Nai?” He patiently looked at her to wait for her answer.
Not every memory she had are something she wants to remember. But whenever she finds herself going back to those painful ones- Jordan’s smiling face appears. The smile she gets to see when they were younger and now- now that they had grown a lot. The aching feeling dissipates when his face appears in her head. The face of reassurance. Helping her to put a safe distance- making her aware that those bad experiences are all behind her now. Reminding her of all the amazing lessons it all gave her. That helped her reach a life- a life in the present that she deeply loved. Going through all of it- was it all worth it?
She gazed at Jordan’s face. Memorizing every corner- she knew the answer. It was all worth it. She has this man in front of her- that she can always count on.
“If my life starts to go through a massive change. And I will be going through a lot of destruction. Where all of the filthiness of my insane aspect came through the surface. Will you still choose to stay with me? And to not runaway from the obscene part that you are about to see?” She held him towards her, hugging him close.
Pulling away she then began to continue what she is saying. “Tell me- tell me everything that you can think about these questions I am saying to you right now?”
She is getting scared. She fixed her gaze, held it on him in an unfazed look. “If a time will come that both of us are encountering a huge problem- if something is trying to get in the way of our connection and try to break us apart. When these problems start to rise to corrupt our minds. Will you choose to fight- to fight by my side?” She felt sluggish after letting these questions out for her to foresee the self-fulfilling prophesy she is been trying to avoid herself from thinking. It’s draining the energy that she has inside her body.
They never start being each other’s romantic partner. They were friends and they still are- although right now their relationship with each other is special. Why does she even try to prognosticate every thought that she has. It’s making her feel bad. Jordan knows that she still is not ready to take things to the next level. And she knows there are wounds that she still needs to address. The wounds of yesterday that she is been trying to avoid. The ones that scare her.
“For how long can you patiently wait for me, Jordan?” Her voice lowered but she still held her gaze on him, softly.
Jordan pulled her closer. Tightened his embrace. Putting his head above her forehead. She feels drowsy.
“Put aside those fears. You have me. I am here for you. I will never go away. You’re tired.” He pushed her gently and held her chin- he touched her lips with the gentle brush of his thumb. Before diving in to kiss her lips.
As both of their lips touched- both savored the electrifying static they felt. The impulse of their kiss took the difficult issues of her mind away. She pulled him closer to her- wrapping her hands around his neck. Jordan’s hands went to the sides of her waist- pulling her closer. His touch urging her to settle herself above his lap. She rose from the cushion- breaking the kiss.
Nai straddled his lap- as they continue to battle for the fevered sultriness that is surrounding their body. Their foreheads touched after doing it. Heavy breaths followed. Jordan gave her a one last delectable kiss before pulling her towards his embrace.
