Chapter 36: Formal Introduction

Shinai remembered the feelings she felt. She began ranting. She was mumbling. She’s really throwing all shady comments she can think of after seeing the scene between Edon and Sienna. She’s full on mumbling words under her breath. How she hated feeling something too. She really hated it.
Her mouth hanged wide-open. “Do I like, Edon?” Her mind suddenly screamed the denial. She denied it abruptly. “I don’t like him.” Like it needs to be erased, eradicated, thrown into the garbage part of her brain, she doesn’t like him.
“Me? Liking him?” She began questioning herself again. She made a disgusted face. “That’s really disgusting. I don’t like him.” Her lids moved, she shook her head, and she continued her pace of walking back and forth inside her room. She’s glad that Erinoi won’t come tonight. She’ll be free to entertain the “la la la” kind of thoughts she has.
Heaving, she then inhaled. Literally, inhaling the air to clear her sinuses, feeling the tightness of her ribcage before exhaling the air out of her lungs. “I don’t like him. Periodt!” But then, she saw the scene again. The brief reminder of what she saw came again where Sienna leaned towards Edon.
“Tsk.” She made the sound. Before she bit the tip of her thumb’s nail. She chewed the tip of her fingernail for a bit. “The only thing missing is them leaning their mouths for a kiss.” She muttered under her breath. Sat on the edge of her bed and stared the spacy white wall in front of her. She stared at the big screen of her own television set. She doesn’t feel like watching any movie right now.
She kept on replaying the scene. She busied herself making comments about it. She was like this a while ago too. Another scene replayed on her head this time that made her feel the mode of cringe again.
Analepsis:
She doesn’t feel like riding any forms of transformation. Shinai felt like walking. So she walked. A scene started playing in her head. It’s the scene that happened between Edon and Sienna. She swatted the memory mentally. It needs to take a flight, and get somewhere else. She hated what she felt.
She cupped her heart. She’s doing a mini-check up on her poor little hollow organ that is been acting strange. She can feel the feeling again. Something inside of her chest made her feel the difficulty of drawing air into her lungs. She let her mind replay the scene. She couldn’t control it. It’s acting up. It’s making her remember the scene all over again. She kept thinking about it while she continued walking until… Shinai’s foot stumbled upon a rock. She tripped. Fell. And she accidentally threw the test papers she is supposed to show to her mom.
She got up. Dusted herself up. Shinai felt the need of wanting to shout. She really wanted to scream, shout. She’s mad. This happened to her because she was overthinking it. She tripped.
“It’s useless.” She said mentally to herself. “Look what happened. You failed to watch where you’re going.” She continued to say to herself. She felt the need to cry. But she heard a swirl, a loud screeching sound of tires. She heard a scoffed.
Shinai looked up. An image of the dark-haired, dark eyes’ guy appeared in front of her face. Too bad it’s really true, she’s not imagining. He really made his appearance again. He eyed her up and down. He was raising both of her eye brows at her. Then he’s eyes fell flat. Shinai trailed his gaze. He looked at the test papers that fell. Scattered on the grounded cemented black asphalt, he stared at it for a long time. She glared at him. Shinai bent herself, lowering her body, and she started picking the papers. Her head rose to look at him again. She was this close to lean into the ground that her back hurts a bit.
Shinai saw something pass in his eyes. He steadied himself and took himself out of his bicycle. He checked his ride. Satisfied at the way he parked his bicycle, he stopped and leaned. If Shinai’s theory is right if he will help her. She waited. Their eyes met. She saw how he smirked at her. The guy immediately started to pick her papers before she can finished picking them all. He grabbed the chance of Shinai’s stopping her movements. The guy handed her the papers.
They both straightened themselves. “That was close! So close into bumping our foreheads.” Shinai’s mind said. Their eyes meet. Awkwardness started to present itself between the two of them. She waited for any other sound to interrupt Her eyes stared on the road. Not even a single car around to make honking sounds. She waited for a bird to pass by. She was staring at the sky, hoping for a cuckoo.
“Keep it your bag.” The guy stared at the sky too. He handed her test papers at her. Shinai stared at him. He’s that nonchalant in keeping his cool. Shinai received it from him. Their eyes meet again.
“It will rain. You need to put it in your bag.” He had this reminder and Nai felt like he’s acting like a manager with that voice he had.
Hesitating, she met his eyes again. Dark, stormy waves that during the storm flashed her mind’s eye and for Shinai the guy’s eyes were like that. They were big, but it reflected darkness. She took her bag, and brought it in front of her, the straps on the other side she rummage her way into putting the papers inside. And the guy waited. Shinai saw him into her peripherals. He was staring at her. She lifted her gaze.
“Thank you!” She started, distracted on how dark it was. Deep, there’s depth. It is not so bright after all. But his dark eyes isn’t dull, there’s a life force circling around his eyes. There’s a spark that is still dancing. It’s like a black hole. But there’s still stars dancing around it.
“Thank you. For helping me.” The guy only nodded his head in return. He was staring at her. For Shinai, his eyes spoke of intensity.
“His eyes. It has the ability to pull. It’s like a magnet. He has this magnetizing gaze!” Shinai keep her words to herself. She would not say the compliments. Especially to a person whom she doesn’t even have a knowledge on his being.
The guy finally moved his lip. He twitched it before he opened his mouth. “We’ve been crossing in each other’s way for quite some time now.” He started.
Nai tilted her head for a bit for his sudden comment. She recovered from the sudden shock she felt of hearing his voice again. It’s been sometime indeed. She then nodded her head. “I figure that out too. We’ve been.” She stopped midway. She stopped herself from trying to continue into finishing her words. She thought of something else to say. “I think it’s time we can finally introduce ourselves to each other.”
“Formal introduction.” It wasn’t a question. He obliged into agreeing to what Nai said to him. “Let’s do that.” He had a formal tone.
