When he arrived at the hospital, Alan was emotionally unstable, and he had all the manners he could muster at that moment, almost none to tell the truth. Tears flowed, worry almost suffocated him, he couldn't see anything in front of him3 except the counter for information, he needed to know how his brother was. As soon as he reached the counter, he didn't wait for the attendant to see him, and immediately went off: - I need to know Natan Martins' state of health - Alan said without taking a breath. - Which patient are you? - I'm his brother. - After a few minutes, he tried to normalize his breathing, but to no avail. - He's in room 456 on the fifth floor. - She informs him, looking like she's eaten something she didn't like. - Thank you. - Alan thanks her and heads for the elevator. It was only when he got to the elevator that he realized that Benjamin was following him like a dog on top of its master. - Honey, you're a bit airy. B. noticed. - I really feel that way. Al confesses. When the elevator arrives, the professor gets in first, followed by his boyfriend, but Alan is smarter and takes the fifth floor. The two of them remain in a comfortable silence, which was customary for both of them, they were masters of being silent. * Nathan, alone, in his hospital room, and let's just say that the hospital was practically my apartment, his room, he had never seen anything like it in his entire life. "Why did this man bring me here?" This question was on his mind. He couldn't understand why the man who had saved him had brought him to the most expensive hospital in the city, perhaps in the country. "How will I pay the hospital bill?" Another question arose in his mind, a more worrying one, because he didn't work and how would he find the money to pay for his treatment? Questions and more questions raced through his mind, taking away his peace. Another question that didn't leave him alone was who had saved him from his father's clutches? Hypotheses and hypotheses came to his mind, but none of them he thought could be possible. The last thing he remembered was asking Destiny, the entity that had discovered this island and given it its name in one of the Earth's languages. He had desperately begged it to get him out of there, to free him from his father who was currently beating him. Soon after he had begged for help, he had fainted, not knowing if it was because he was in so much pain or because Fate had spared him from feeling it. Nathan closed his eyes, trying to remember if he had given his father any reason to be so furious with him. It was true that he had hidden the fact that he was gay, but one day he still wanted to tell his father, perhaps when, in a distant future, Alec accepted his brother. For three months he had gone to class and hadn't met his brother, which had worried him a lot, his brother had always been the more studious of the two, Nathan knew that his brother wouldn't miss class for nothing. "I wonder what's happened to Alan?" This question came into his mind and he couldn't leave it alone. When he opened the door, Alan saw his younger brother lying with his back to the door, a sheet covering him from the waist down, his chest covered in bandages that were a little bloodied, but he looked fine, at least with his back turned. - Little brother - Alan called out to him, afraid to see how his dear brother really looked. As soon as Nathan turned towards the door, he saw his brother standing in the doorway, static, waiting for him to react. - What's wrong? Am I that bad? - No, Nathan, you're fine. Alan said a little worried, he didn't really know how his brother was doing under all those bandages. - Has Cauã come? - Natan asked his brother, he didn't like Alan's husband very much, Natan thought he was overbearing, ignorant, macho, among other beautiful adjectives, but not, which he had given him affectionately. - No, we're not together anymore. Alan said at once. - At last you realized that he was no good, brother - Nathan says a little loudly, celebrating his brother's separation - So you came alone? - No, I came with you. - Did crazy Jo Ann come? - It's not someone else. - Alan concludes, but continues to speak - Wasn't it me who had to be asking the questions here? - Alan asks, feigning indignation. - I'm sorry," Nathan says, shrinking back. Something very serious had happened to Alan's brother, he didn't recognize him anymore. - Don't be like that, little brother - Al says, regretting having made such a joke - I was only joking. Don't you know your brother anymore? When he saw that Nathan had relaxed, he felt less guilty for having joked with him, his brother had never been a big fan of jokes, Alan should have thought more and not joked with Nathan after he had been through a stressful situation, now he had a bit of an idea of what his younger brother had been through, and that unfortunately it was a serious thing. - Aren't you going to tell me who came with you? When Alan heard the question, almost an order from Nathan, he froze. He didn't know what to say or how he could get out of the mess he'd gotten himself into by telling his brother that he'd come with him. His thoughts were working at the speed of light, if that was possible? He didn't know, but that's how he felt. He thought of a thousand and one answers he could give his brother, but none of them were to his liking. His thoughts were interrupted by the door opening and a nurse entering. - Visiting hours are over, Mr. Martins. Alan looked at his brother with sadness at having to say goodbye, walked towards his bed, gave him a hug and promised to come back the next day.
