Chapter 27 The crisis

- Who were you running from? - Marcus asks again in disbelief at the ability of Fate to be such a son of a bitch.
On hearing the man's question, Antony automatically shrank back, which made the doctor think he'd fucked up. The truth was that An had been startled by the tone of voice he had used.
"That will never happen again!" Marcus swore to himself.
When was he going to give up and say that everything was fine, that he didn't have to answer him, that it was probably a coincidence, or was it possible that they were the same person? Doubts and more doubts permeated his thoughts.
- I was running away the day you ran me over - Antony pauses, moistening his parched lips with the tip of his tongue, making Marcus wonder where that tongue could be.
"Stop thinking nonsense Marcus" He thought...
- Of a client called Cauã.
When he heard this name, Marcus couldn't believe it. He got up and started walking around, he couldn't believe it. How was that possible? It could only be two people...
- Tell me that's not who I think it is?
- Who are you talking about? - Antony asked, not understanding why Marcus was reacting this way.
- My cousin's ex-husband, who happens to have the same name as that guy you were running away from
- Actually, I still am.
An adds, shrinking further and further into her armchair at the thought of not being 100 percent rid of this psychopathic being.
- "Please tell me it's not the same person," the doctor almost begs.
- Is your cousin called Alan? - The lawyer asked, afraid of Marcus's reaction, already cringing with every step he took towards him.
The doctor couldn't understand why Antony was acting as if he was afraid of him, and noticing that with every step he took he shrank back more, he stopped in the middle of the road, nodding in agreement to the whispered question his temporary host 'Antony' had asked earlier.
- What did he do to you?
- Nothing.
- Really? - He asked without believing it was true.
"If Cauã has done something to my Antony, he'll see me!" Marcus thought with blood in his eyes.
- He didn't hurt me physically.
When he heard this sentence, the doctor calmed down a little, but when he heard what Antony said afterwards, his fury returned.
- Cauã is a master of psychological aggression, I can't say that he didn't do it - An stopped for a minute to pull himself together, as the tears that had been welling up inside him overflowed his eyes.
When he saw the state the lawyer was in, he didn't know what could be done, clearly his Antony was in an anxiety crisis, and Marcus unfortunately didn't know what to do to bring him back.
**
As soon as Alan left his room, his thoughts swirled with possibilities. He didn't know who the mysterious man was who had saved him from the hands of his not-so-fond father, if ever he would call him father again.
His life would never be the same again because of a fatality that he didn't know why his father had treated him this way, everything in his body hurt both physically and psychologically.
Nathan didn't want to live with his parents any more, but he didn't want to give his brother a hard time either. It was enough that he'd gone to see him in hospital, and he didn't know if he'd be able to pay the bill.
"Oh, Fate! How can I pay for this?" Nathan said a prayer in his mind, but who would help him, Fate? Really, the story Clara told him at bedtime.
He couldn't believe that he was begging for help from an entity that no one else believed in, he really was in a state of calamity.
He heard three knocks on the door; it could only be the doctor in charge of him, as visiting hours were over.
He looked more like a zombie than a human being, his face had wounds that were swollen, thus deforming him, bruises covered his body, which caused him pain, he still felt uncomfortable, however, he was clearly medicated, Nathan was wearing a sweater that the hospital had provided.
- You can come in," Nathan said as soon as he had made himself comfortable on the bed.
The door opened slowly and a man in a suit entered, he didn't know him, but something familiar was creeping up on him. At that moment, the patient 'Natan' didn't understand why this man, who until now had been a stranger to him, was there to see him, and clearly he was rich, very rich.
- Are you better now, Angel? - The voice that came out of his fleshy mouth was hoarse and velvety. In a state of shock, Nathan couldn't believe that this voice moved him so much, it was something inexplicable, his insides churned with the desire to have more of this mysterious man, whose name was unknown until then.
- If you call that better...
- Yes, my angel is better. - The man concluded, interrupting Nathan.
- Who are you? Why are you here?
He asked the man in the suit who was standing near the door that had closed as soon as the stranger had entered.
- I'm Denis, your soul mate.
- There you go. I can only be dreaming and this madman in front of me is a hallucination caused by some drug.
- I can assure you that I'm not a hallucination. - Denis said, coming closer to Nathan's bed, sat down on the empty edge and took Nathan's hand, kissing the back of it.
Nathan pulled his hand away as if Denis had a plague or something, which startled the man.
- Did I do something wrong? - He asked, afraid of the answer; he didn't want his soul mate to be afraid of him, what he'd been through at his father's hands was enough.
- No, my angel, you haven't done anything wrong. - Denis answered his lover's question in a calm and reassuring tone of voice, trying to get Nathan to calm down.
