Chapter 29 Revelations

Antony found himself being stared at by two pairs of bewildered eyes. The two men staring at him couldn't understand how he had gotten hold of this information. Without understanding much, Marcus approached Antony.
- How do you know? - Ben asked, trying to figure out who that man leaning on the door frame was.
- Why didn't you tell me? - Marcus says, not understanding why Antony didn't tell him this information. It's true that he wanted to tell him something, but he hadn't listened to his lover.
- I was going to tell you Marcus...
- But you didn't.
Marcus moved closer and closer to Antony, trying to understand why he hadn't said anything to suggest that he knew his cousin.
- Where do you know my cousin from?
- It's complicated to say... - He said, scratching his head with his right hand. - I don't know where to start...
- How about the beginning? - Benjamin suggested.
- Look... I don't know if you'll like where this story begins - Antony began to say, afraid of his future boyfriend's reaction, but he had to tell them what he knew, they needed to know what happened between him and Cauã... - The truth is that I was Cauã's lover when he was with Alan.
Antony spoke at once, shrinking back in anticipation for fear of the reaction of 'Marcus and Benjamin'.
Realizing that neither of them had come at him, the lawyer shrinks back, taking the courage to look in the direction of his interrogators, their facial expressions were perplexed, this shocked Antony, he would never have expected such a reaction.
- I... - Benjamin started to say, but didn't know how to continue, he couldn't believe that Marcus had apparently given shelter to such a person.
- What do you mean? - The doctor asked, hurt. At that moment, Ben realized that his boyfriend's cousin was unaware of the fact.
Hearing Marcus' question, the lawyer looked into his eyes, and there he saw disbelief, enormous hurt, he really had ruined everything by telling what he had to tell, and it wasn't even the beginning.
- Yes, that's what I just said...
- I don't understand Antony
Marcus tells you...
- I, Antony, was Cauã's lover during his marriage to Alan, and I was responsible for obtaining a writ of habeas corpus so that he could go free.
- But here's something I don't understand: why are you running away from Cauã? - Benjamin asks, approaching where the two 'Marcus and Antony' were standing.
- Because he used me to get his freedom.
Antony just dropped bomb after bomb into his interrogators' laps.
"Cauã really is a manipulative son of a bitch! He managed to fool an experienced lawyer like Antony. What can't he do?" Benjamin thought.
- And what does this have to do with Alan? - Marcus asks before B. asks.
Antony leaned back against the door frame, ran his right hand through his hair and pulled out a lock that was blocking his vision.
- It's just that when he was free, he promised to have Alan at any cost, no matter what the means.
- So when B. said he didn't know where Alan was, you immediately deduced that Cauã had kidnapped him. - Marcus said, understanding what Antony meant when he told them that Alan had been kidnapped.
At that moment Benjamin's blood ran cold, he had been innocent not to think of this possibility, the truth was that he didn't want to believe what was in his face, Alan hadn't run away from home or even left without telling them where he was going, but he had been kidnapped, taken without his consent.
It's true that he was slow, very, very slow, but he now had to run out of time, which unfortunately was very short because of his stupidity. Now he was standing there, staring into nothingness, not knowing what to do, despair was blinding him, it's true that he had to act, but his eyes filled with tears and his body began to shake.
Antony, seeing what B. was going through, remained static, because he knew these symptoms very well, and had just felt them.
He walked towards the kitchen to get a glass of water and sugar so that Ben would calm down and the anxiety attack wouldn't continue.
Benjamin couldn't understand what was happening to him, he'd never felt like this, an irrational fear was spreading through his body, he couldn't feel anything anymore, it blinded him to everything, he couldn't distinguish what was real from what was unreal.
- Here, drink.
He heard a voice in the distance and a hand handing him a glass with a liquid he didn't know what it was.
That was his last memory, as he fell asleep soon after.
