Chapter 14

"Why on earth are you taking so long?" Theron exclaimed in exasperation, his voice almost reaching a shout as he confronted the grinning Sense. Infuriatingly, Sense seemed to have an unwavering smile, as if he held all the time in the world. Theron couldn't help but think that Sense was simply too dense to grasp the urgency of the situation.
Theron had been waiting impatiently outside the grand entrance of Prime ProBuild for what felt like an eternity. Restraint was not his strong suit, and the very concept of waiting tested his patience to its limits. He couldn't help but speculate on what could be keeping the imbecile inside. Most likely, Sense was indulging in some form of unnecessary interaction with the attractive individuals within the building. The sheer audacity of such behavior only reinforced Theron's disdain for him.
Casting a quick side-glance at Sense, Theron swiftly redirected his attention to the towering structure that was PPB. His mind delved into a flurry of thoughts, contemplating the perplexing choice of their meeting place: the President's office. Such a circumstance was beyond his expectations; he hadn't anticipated coming face to face with Kith once more. Life had thrown him an unexpected curveball.
Visions of Kith's beguiling smile, his expressive eyes, and the graceful movement of his lips flickered vividly in Theron's thoughts. In trying to make sense of it all, he reached the conclusion that Kith remained unchanged. Any potential alterations in his character were left unexplored by Theron. He found himself taken aback by the transformation of his once meek and feeble best friend, who now held a prominent position at a renowned engineering company. The massive strides Kith had taken in his professional life acted as a reminder of the unpredictability of fate.
Theron's mind wandered back to the time when Kith's strategic brilliance had salvaged his father's failing business. Kith had displayed an uncanny knack for handling complex business affairs, a talent that had taken Theron by surprise initially. However, now he grasped the implications and understood the full extent of Kith's capabilities.
Initially, Theron had regarded Kith as an ordinary student, oblivious to the fact that Kith had concealed a significant portion of his true identity. It turned out that Kith was not just an ordinary individual but a member of the elite, a Prime, renowned as one of the world's billionaires.
The revelation hit Theron with the force of a tidal wave as he discovered that the company he had interned at in Davao was, in fact, owned by the Primes. It was Nial who had disclosed this information to him just the day before, leaving Theron feeling both astonished and awkward due to the red carpet treatment he had received.
Unbeknownst to him at the time, it was the influence and directives of Kith that were secretly controlling the strings behind the scenes. Theron couldn't shake off the suspicion that Kith had been well aware of his internship at that particular company. It seemed that bad luck had struck him once again, as he found himself entangled in this intricately woven web of fate.
The weight of Theron's day bore down on him, rendering it utterly terrible. Nevertheless, he found himself grappling with a perplexing mixture of emotions towards Kith: was it anger, annoyance, or perhaps even a lingering sense of longing? "Hell," his mind cruelly shouted with a touch of disgust. Yet, after a year had elapsed, he contemplated whether it was finally time to let go, to move on, and forge a harmonious working relationship with Kith.
The throes of financial struggle gripped Theron tightly. His father's illness loomed over their household, exacerbated by the crushing weight of a million debts. The dire need for money gnawed at him relentlessly. Even though he harbored resentment towards his father for the reckless decisions that had placed them in this predicament, compassion remained nestled within his heart. Despite battling a heart condition, his father persisted in indulging in unhealthy habits, a worry that tugged at Theron's conscience. Desperation for monetary stability consumed him.
Pondering the enigmatic intentions of Kith, Theron found himself consumed by questions. "What does Kith want from me?" he wondered. Did Kith still harbor feelings towards him?
Theron's mind was occupied by the overwhelming amount of debt his father owed to the prestigious PPB. "Hell," he muttered under his breath, realizing he wasn't even considered as a viable option to tackle that financial burden. The thought of the ensuing questions that typically followed such circumstances filled him with a sense of disgust. A smirking humor surfaced within him when he entertained the idea of entering into a romantic relationship with Kith. Oh no, he quickly dismissed the notion as an utterly inadequate solution to his problems. He had no intention of dragging Kith into the complicated mess of his life, for Kith was no longer his best friend.
