Chapter 15: Love's Victory Lap

As I watched the second qualifying session, a sense of sadness and worry enveloped me. It was disheartening to see Alex struggle on the track, and I couldn't help but wonder if our awkward parting had affected his performance. If only I could turn back time and make our farewell more proper, but life had its own plans.

My internship had come to an end, and as much as I wanted to stay, my thirst for knowledge and the desire to further my studies compelled me to move forward. I yearned for more, especially after the incredible experience I had gained in the world of Formula 1.

When I saw that Alex had secured a third-place finish, I knew that something was amiss. It was a bittersweet moment, hoping for the best for the team but also feeling a sense of detachment.

Then, my phone chimed, and an email notification appeared on the screen. As I read the message, my heart raced with excitement and hope. It was not just from the company I had interned with; it was from the Formula 1 team itself. The superiors I had interacted with from the very beginning were offering me a real job, an opportunity to work with them once more, and it felt like a dream come true.

As I was in the midst of reading the exciting email, my phone suddenly began to ring. It was an incoming call from none other than Mr. Henderson, one of the key figures in the Formula 1 team. Without hesitation, I answered the call, and his voice greeted me with a playful tone.

"Why aren't you here with us?" he quipped, and his words carried a sense of warmth and camaraderie. "You should take that job offer and get your ass back to Singapore."

A smile tugged at my lips as I listened to his banter, feeling a rush of fondness for the team and the people I had worked alongside. Mr. Henderson's next words, however, were unexpected.

He leaned in closer to the phone and, with a hint of mischief in his voice, he added, "You know, Alex is nothing without you."

I couldn't help but chuckle at his comment, appreciating the lightheartedness of the moment and the bond that had developed during my time with the team. It was a reassuring reminder of the impact I had made, and it fueled my determination to return to the world of Formula 1 once more.

As I boarded the first flight to Singapore, a sense of urgency and anticipation coursed through me. The email and phone call had been a whirlwind of excitement and opportunity, but my thoughts were not solely focused on the job offer or returning to the world of Formula 1.

During the plane ride home, as the landscape shifted beneath me, I couldn't help but reflect on the deeper connection that had developed between Alex and me. What had started as a professional collaboration had grown into something more profound. It wasn't just about being workmates; it was about understanding each other on a level that transcended our roles in the team.

The recent slight misunderstanding before I left had made something abundantly clear to me—Alex cared. He wasn't just a famous world champion driver; he was a young man relentlessly pursuing his dreams of success. And, in that moment, I realized that I wanted to be a part of that journey with him.

As the plane touched down in Singapore, my heart raced with a renewed sense of purpose. I was ready to embrace this new chapter, not just as a valuable team member but as a friend and confidant to the one and only Alexander Williams, a champion both on and off the track.

In the midst of Singapore's notorious traffic, panic began to set in as I realized I had less than an hour before the race was set to begin at Marina Bay Circuit. I knew I had to act fast, or I'd miss this crucial moment.

Spotting a taxi nearby, I waved frantically, causing the driver to slam on the brakes. As I hopped into the taxi, I tried to convey my urgency, repeatedly muttering "Marina Bay Circuit" in the hopes that the driver would understand the gravity of the situation. However, he seemed determined to dissuade me, warning that the traffic would cost me precious time.

"Miss, the traffic's terrible," the driver hesitated, his reluctance clear. "It'll take at least an hour to get there."

I felt desperation welling up within me. "There has to be a way, a shortcut or something! The race is about to start!"

Time was a luxury I couldn't afford to lose. With determination coursing through my veins, I made a risky decision. I urged the driver to guide me to the quickest route to the circuit, convincing him that I could get them there as fast as I could. Reluctantly, he agreed, and I took charge.

"Trust me," I said, my voice filled with urgency. "We've got to make it there in time."

He nodded, his grip tightening on the steering wheel. "Alright, let's do this. Buckle up, and I'll guide you."

As I shifted into the driver's seat, I couldn't help but admire the taxi driver's willingness to help me in my race against time. We both fastened our seatbelts, and I whispered to myself, "Hold on tight, we're going to make it."

I wasted no time. In that adrenaline-fueled moment, I felt like I was in a high-speed action movie. I leaned over, pushing the driver into the passenger seat, and without a moment's hesitation, we both crossed ourselves for luck.

As the engine roared to life, I uttered something cool under my breath, a blend of determination and defiance. With steely resolve, I slammed my foot on the gas pedal, determined to defy the odds and make it to the Marina Bay Circuit in time for the race of a lifetime.

As we weaved through the city streets, it felt like a scene out of a romantic comedy, where the protagonist chases after their love interest in a last-minute, heart-pounding pursuit. Yet, in this real-life scenario, I was chasing a man in a Formula 1 car, and time was slipping away faster than ever. The adrenaline coursed through me as we pushed through the traffic, determined to reach the Marina Bay Circuit in time for the race. It was a race against the clock, and every second counted.
