99: From The Grave

"I can't believe it really is you, I thought I was hallucinating", Jae-seong said as they sat down by the pool side. "I completely understand", Mr. Jung said making Jae-seong chuckle lightly. "Wai, if you're here, then who has been talking to me all this time", Jae-seong asked. "Talking to you", Mr. Jung asked back equally confused as she is. "When I would climb up the roof of our house in Incheon, when I'm somewhere up high, sometimes in my dreams", Jae-seong elaborated which made Mr. Jung laugh. "Well that is the real product of your imagination", Mr. Jung said making Jae-seong pout. Mr. Jung then placed an arm on Jae-seong's shoulders upon seeing her reaction. "You know what? That's completely normal when you long for someone. People's minds tend to cope differently when going through grief and sorrow and that just so happens how yours cope with pain. I get it becuase I have been there. For the longest time, I longed to be with you and your brother but I can't find the right timing you know. You wouldn't expect what your then stepmother said back at your school gymnasium would be true and that's completely understandable but to tell you honestly, it hurt the shit out of me knowing that you don't even have the slightest hope that I might still be alive and well", Mr. Jung told Jae-seong in an attempt to comfort her.
"Now I know where I got my talkative trait from", Jae-seong joked which shocked Mr. Jung. "Oh shit, I was talking too much again, wasn't I", Mr. Jung asked laughing. "It's alright papa, I have wanted this all my life, you know", Jae-seong said smiling at him. "I have also been longing this for the longest time. The two of you were all that your mother left me yet I failed to protect you two", Mr. Jung said. "I wish I had met her", Jae-seong responded. "Wonderful woman. I know you've heard that she died giving birth to you but it was her decision really. I tried talking her out of it but she insisted. Now, don't get me wrong, I truly miss her but if it wasn't for her sacrifice then I wouldn't have such a wonderful daughter that resembled her in so many ways, so for that, I am thankful she gave me you even though I wasn't present for most your life, but I'm here now", Mr. Jung said earning a hug from Jae-seong. "And don't ever leave me again please", Jae-seong whispered. "I promise I'll do my best to stay the longest I can", Mr. Jung said in the most reassuring way possible patting her back.
"Oh by the way, tell me about that Ten guy, I saw a few articles before", Mr. Jung said as they separated from the hug. "Oh... that's an embarrassing part of my life", Jae-seong said scratching her nape. "I won't judge you, I promise", Mr. Jung said making Jae-seong laugh. "I mean, you really shouldn't being my father", Jae-seong said making Mr. Jung laugh as well. "If you insist... well we didn't actually dated per se", Jae-seong started it off. "Then what really did happen", Mr. Jung asked. "We faked a relationship simply because it benefitted us both, it would get creepy suitors off my back and would get an annoying girl off his back as well", Jae-seong explained. "And in that span of like what, a couple of months, the both of you didn't develop any real feelings towards each other", Mr. Jung asked which shocked Jae-seong. "I kind of think we actually did", Jae-seong answered. "Why is it that you only 'kind of think'? Is it not something to be sure of", Mr. Jung continued to ask. "It's the series of events that made me unsure", Jae-seong answered.
"And those series of events would be", Mr. Jung asked trying to get Jae-seong to open up fully to him. "Well, he did have romantic feelings towards me first, and I kind of eventually did too but at that time, there were other people courting me as well. When people found out we only staged the relationship, it was when Jayjay had the great idea of setting up this somewhat competition between my suitors but I am fully aware that I already had these feelings for Ten, I just wanted to be sure this time around. It was then that the competition became all too real and it was like one of the competitors cheated, I don't even know what to call it but yeah, it was when we drifted apart", Jae-seong lengthily explained. "You know, what you felt like doing wasn't so bad if you ask me. You only looked out of yourself which isn't really a selfish act rather a smart one. I'm happy to know that you seem to be handling yourself quite well", Mr. Jung said patting Jae-seong's back. "Yeah but I had to learn that the hard way", Jae-seong said looking away. "But that's life you know, pain and failure is thrown your way in order to learn from it and get back stronger and from what I can, you have gotten much stronger than what your mother and I ever was", Mr. Jung responded which made Jae-seong smile.
"I knew you'd know the exact words to say when it comes to situations like this", Jae-seong reacted making the both of them laugh at the same time.
