Daniel arrived home from the hospital and found the house empty. He called Roneth's phone, but it went straight to voicemail. He called Ethan's phone, but it went straight to voicemail too. Daniel's heart sank. He knew that Roneth and Ethan had left him. He went to their bedroom and checked their things. They were all gone. Daniel sat down on the bed and felt a wave of sadness wash over him. He had lost his wife and son. He didn't know what to do. He felt lost and alone. He thought about Jane and how he had hurt Roneth by helping her. He regretted his decision. He knew that he had to fix things with Roneth. He had to get her and Ethan back. He decided to go to Roneth's parents' house. He knew that she would probably go there. He drove to Roneth's parents' house and knocked on the door. Her mother answered the door. "Daniel," she said. "What are you doing here?" "I'm here to see Roneth and Ethan," Daniel said. "Do you know where they are?" Roneth's mother shook her head. "No," she said. "They haven't been here." Daniel was disappointed. He didn't know where else to look. "Can I come in?" he asked. "I need to talk to you." Roneth's mother nodded and let Daniel inside. Daniel sat down on the couch and Roneth's mother sat down across from him. "I'm so sorry for hurting Roneth," Daniel said. "I never meant to hurt her." Roneth's mother sighed. "I know," she said. "But you did hurt her. And now she's gone." "I know," Daniel said. "And I want to get her back. I want to fix things." Roneth's mother looked at Daniel for a long moment. "I don't know if she'll ever forgive you," she said. "But I'll tell you if she comes here." Daniel nodded. "Thank you," he said. Daniel left Roneth's parents' house and drove home. He didn't know what to do. He felt lost and alone. He went to his bedroom and sat down on the bed. He picked up a picture of Roneth and Ethan and stared at it. "I'm going to get you back," he said to the picture. "I promise." Daniel knew that it wasn't going to be easy, but he was determined to fix things with Roneth and Ethan. He loved them more than anything in the world. Daniel tried to reach Roneth and Ethan for days, but he couldn't get through to them. He was starting to lose hope. One day, Daniel decided to go to Jane's apartment. He wanted to see how she was doing. He knocked on the door, and Jane answered. She looked surprised to see him. "Daniel," she said. "What are you doing here?" "I just wanted to see how you were doing," Daniel said. "I'm okay," Jane said. "I'm much better." "That's good to hear," Daniel said. Daniel and Jane went inside and sat down on the couch. "I'm so sorry for what I did," Jane said. "I know that I hurt you and Roneth." "I know," Daniel said. "But I'm glad that you're okay now." Jane looked at Daniel with tears in her eyes. "Thank you for helping me," she said. "I don't know what I would have done without you." Daniel smiled. "You're welcome," he said. "That's what friends are for." Jane suddenly leaned in and kissed Daniel. Daniel was surprised. He didn't expect that. He pulled away from the kiss and looked at Jane. "Jane," he said. "I'm just here as a friend." Jane nodded. "I know," she said. "But I can't help but feel this way about you." Daniel sighed. "Jane," he said. "I have a wife and son. I love them very much." Jane looked down at the floor. "I know," she said. "I'm sorry for making you feel uncomfortable." "It's okay," Daniel said. "I just want you to know that I'm only here as a friend." Jane nodded. "I understand," she said. Daniel and Jane talked for a while longer. Then, it was time for Daniel to go. "I'm glad you're okay, Jane," Daniel said. "But I have to go now." "I understand," Jane said. "Thank you for coming to see me." Daniel left Jane's apartment and drove home. He was still thinking about the kiss. He knew that Jane had feelings for him, but he loved Roneth and Ethan. He didn't want to hurt them. Daniel knew that he had to be careful. He didn't want to lose his family or his friend. Daniel tried to reach Roneth and Ethan again, but there was still no response. He was starting to get really worried. He decided to go to his house to see if they were there. When he arrived, he found the front door unlocked. He went inside and called out their names, but no one answered. He searched the whole house, but they were nowhere to be found. Daniel was starting to panic. He didn't know what to do. He decided to go back to Jane's apartment and ask her for help. When he arrived at Jane's apartment, she was surprised to see him. She asked him what was wrong, and he told her that he couldn't find Roneth and Ethan. Jane offered to help him look for them, but they had no luck. Daniel was starting to lose hope. He didn't know what to do. Jane invited Daniel to come inside and have a drink. She said that she needed to talk to him about something. Daniel sat down on the couch and Jane poured him a drink. She sat down next to him and took his hand. "Daniel," she said. "I need to tell you something." "What is it?" Daniel asked. "I'm really in love with you," Jane said. Daniel was stunned. "Jane," he said. "I'm married. I love my wife." "I know," Jane said. "But I can't help but feel this way about you. You're the most amazing man I've ever met." Daniel didn't know what to say. He was torn between his love for Roneth and his growing feelings for Jane. Daniel stood up and walked to the door. He turned around and looked at Jane. "I'll talk to you soon," he said. Daniel left Jane's apartment and drove home. He was still in shock. Daniel didn't know what to do. He loved his wife. Daniel decided to go to bed and try to sleep. He needed to clear his head and figure out what he wanted to do. The next morning, Daniel woke up and felt refreshed. He had made a decision. He loved Roneth, and he wanted to stay with her. Daniel knew already that Jane was in love with him. He had been careful to keep his distance from her, but she had made her feelings clear on the night she had kissed him. Daniel could not reciprocate her feelings. He loved his wife, Roneth, and their son, Ethan, more than anything in the world. One day, Jane invited Daniel again to her apartment for a drink. She said she wanted to thank him for being such a good friend. Daniel knew that this was a risky situation, but he felt guilty about hurting her feelings. He decided to go. When he arrived at Jane's apartment, she was wearing a beautiful dress and her hair was styled perfectly. She had clearly put a lot of effort into her appearance. "You look lovely," Daniel said. "Thank you," Jane said. "I wanted to look my best for you." Daniel felt his heart sink. He knew that Jane was expecting him to make a move. They sat down on the couch and Jane poured them both drinks. "So, what did you want to talk about?" Daniel asked. "I just wanted to spend some time with you," Jane said. "I miss you." Daniel looked at her awkwardly. "I miss you too," he said. "But as a friend." Jane's eyes filled with tears. "I know," she said. Daniel sighed. "Jane," he said. "I have a wife and a son. I love them very much." Daniel and Jane talked for a while longer, but it was clear that there was nothing left to say. Daniel stood up and said goodbye. Daniel walked home feeling conflicted. He cared about Jane, but he could not reciprocate her feelings. He was determined to stay true to his wife and son. Daniel knew that this would not be the last time that Jane would confess her love for him. He would have to be careful and firm in his rejection of her advances. But he also knew that he had to be compassionate and understanding. Jane was a good person, and she deserved to be happy.
