Chapter 18: The Family Introduction
The journey from their cozy apartment to Zabid's family home in Jeddah was filled with anticipation. Nancy, Zabid, Besilda, and Badi shared stories and laughed as they made their way to meet Zabid's family.
Nancy was excited but felt a touch of nervousness. She looked at Zabid, who held her hand, and smiled reassuringly. "Zabid, I can't wait to meet your family, but I hope they'll like me."
Zabid squeezed her hand affectionately. "Nancy, my family will love you, just as I do. You have nothing to worry about."
Besilda, who was seated in the backseat with Badi, leaned forward with a grin. "Mom, Zabid is right. We'll make a great impression, and I'm looking forward to meeting everyone."
The journey brought them to a charming neighborhood in Jeddah, and they pulled up in front of Zabid's family home. The warm, traditional design of the house made it clear that they were about to experience a different cultural world.
As they entered the house, they were met with a chorus of warm greetings. Zabid's family, who had been eagerly awaiting their arrival, extended their hospitality and kind-hearted welcomes.
Nancy, although still a bit nervous, was immediately put at ease by the genuine warmth of Zabid's family. They were showered with traditional Arabian hospitality, from warm hugs and cheek-kisses to platters of dates and sweets.
Zabid's mother, Umm Zabid, embraced Nancy and Besilda. "Welcome, dear ones. We're so happy to have you here."
Nancy returned the embrace, feeling an overwhelming sense of acceptance. "Thank you for your warm welcome. It's an honor to meet you."
Besilda, her curiosity piqued, looked around the beautifully decorated living room. "It's a lovely home, Umm Zabid. I can't wait to learn more about your culture."
Umm Zabid smiled warmly. "We're excited to share our culture with you, Besilda. We'll teach you everything you want to know."
The introductions continued as Zabid's father, Abi Zabid, and his siblings warmly greeted their new family members. Badi, ever the enthusiastic host, shared his experiences with excitement and won the hearts of Zabid's younger siblings.
Nancy and Besilda were led to a beautifully arranged dining area where a feast of Arabian dishes awaited them. The tantalizing aromas and vibrant colors of the food were a feast for the senses.
As they gathered around the table, Nancy couldn't help but feel a profound sense of belonging. The generous portions of Arabian dishes were a testament to the love and care that Zabid's family had put into their welcome.
Besilda, eager to learn, looked at the dishes with curiosity. "This food looks incredible. What are some of the dishes, Umm Zabid?"
Umm Zabid explained each dish with pride, sharing stories of their cultural significance. As they dug into the flavorful cuisine, Nancy and Besilda couldn't help but fall in love with the Arabian flavors.
Badi, who had quickly become friends with Zabid's younger siblings, was animatedly sharing stories of their adventures and discoveries in Saudi Arabia.
Abi Zabid, impressed by Badi's enthusiasm, leaned over to Nancy. "Your son is quite the charmer, Nancy. We're happy to have him as part of our family."
Nancy beamed with pride. "Thank you, Abi Zabid. Badi is thrilled to be here and make new friends."
As the meal continued, Zabid's family members shared stories of their own, painting a vivid picture of their life in Saudi Arabia. Besilda and Badi soaked up the stories, their curiosity growing with each word.
As the evening came to a close, Nancy, Besilda, and Badi felt a sense of belonging and acceptance that transcended language and culture. Their introduction to Zabid's family had been a beautiful and heartwarming experience, one that promised a future filled with shared traditions, laughter, and love.
Nancy, grateful for the love and acceptance they had received, said, "Zabid, your family is incredible. I'm so lucky to be a part of it."
Zabid held Nancy's hand and looked into her eyes. "Nancy, our love has brought two families together, and I couldn't be happier. We're creating a new, beautiful story."
Besilda, her heart touched by the experience, added, "This is the beginning of something wonderful, and I'm excited to learn more about our new culture."
The evening ended with promises of future gatherings and celebrations, as Nancy, Besilda, and Badi officially became part of Zabid's loving and welcoming family.
**Besilda's Art**
It was a tranquil evening in their apartment in Saudi Arabia. The soft, golden glow of the sunset streamed in through the windows, casting a warm ambiance in the living room. Nancy sat on the couch, lost in thought, her mind drifting between the memories of her past and the hopes of her future.
Besilda, her beloved daughter, was engrossed in her latest passion—art. She had discovered a new world of expression through colors, shapes, and imagination. Sitting at the small wooden table, a canvas before her and an array of paints by her side, Besilda was deeply engrossed in a painting she had been working on for days.
Zabid, perceptive as always, had noticed Nancy's contemplative mood. He approached her with a comforting smile and sat beside her on the couch. "Nancy, is something on your mind?"
Nancy sighed softly. "I've been thinking about the past, Zabid, and all the challenges we've overcome. Sometimes it feels like a dream, and I worry that something might take this happiness away."
Zabid placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "Nancy, we've been through a lot, but we've come out stronger because of it. Our love and the love we have for Besilda and Badi are our anchors."
Just as Zabid was about to say more, a soft voice from the corner of the room caught their attention. "Mom, Zabid, I have something to show you."
Besilda stood up, her hands covered in vibrant shades of blue, red, and green. She held a framed canvas, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
Nancy and Zabid exchanged curious glances before Zabid asked, "What is it, Besilda?"
With a grin, Besilda turned the framed canvas around to reveal her latest creation. It was a stunning painting of a vibrant Arabian desert landscape, the golden sands stretching to meet the azure sky, and an intricately detailed camel gracefully walking across the canvas.
Nancy's eyes welled up with tears as she gazed at the painting, overwhelmed by the talent and emotion that Besilda had poured into it. "Besilda, this is incredible. You're so talented."
Besilda blushed with a mixture of pride and humility. "I wanted to create something that captures the beauty of Saudi Arabia, our new home."
Zabid was equally moved by Besilda's artistry. "Besilda, you've done a magnificent job. This painting is a masterpiece."
Besilda placed the framed painting on the coffee table, beaming with joy. "I'm glad you both like it. It's my gift to you, to remind us of the beauty and love in our lives."
Nancy wiped away a tear, her heart swelling with gratitude. She reached out and hugged Besilda tightly. "Thank you, my dear. This painting will always hold a special place in our hearts."
Zabid, too, expressed his appreciation. "Besilda, you've given us a piece of your heart, and we'll treasure it always."
Besilda's art had not only brought beauty into their lives but also served as a poignant reminder of their journey, the love they shared, and the new family they had become.
As the evening continued, they hung the painting on the living room wall, where it became a symbol of their love and unity. Every time they looked at it, they were reminded of the remarkable journey they had embarked upon as a family, and the bright future that awaited them.Download Novelah App
