Chapter 52

La Niños Group of Company
Diana was restless. She had been pacing while nibbling on a ballpoint pen. She still couldn't believe what she was seeing even thoughs he told her dad about it. She was about to call Jacob and Freya when her cell phone suddenly died. She forgot to charge it.
"Ma’am Diana, are you going to tell me where Mommy Freya is?" Yael asked. His gaze followed Diana's every move.
Diana walked closer to Yael. She carefully knelt down to touch his face. She squeezed her nephew's cheek.
 "Ouch!" Yael suddenly shouted.
"I'm sorry, Yael." Diana looked carefully at every corner of his face. She's looking for possible stitches or marks of surgery. When she saw nothing, she covered her mouth with both of her hands. "Oh my God! It's really true! You're Yael! My missing niece!" She was stunned for a moment because of the last word that came out of her mouth.
"Niece? Am I your niece, Ma’am Diana? Are you related to my mother or to my father?" Yael asked quickly.
Diana closed her eyes tightly. 'Silly! This kid doesn't even know that his dad is alive! What should I say to him? He's so smart!' When she opened her eyes, she felt Yael hugging her.
"You don't need to explain, tita. The truth is..."
Diana raised an eyebrow. The next thing she heard made her cry.
"I have known for a long time that my daddy is still alive. I also know that you are his sister and Tito Jackson is his brother, then senior is my grandfather," Yael said emotionlessly.
"Y-Yael..." Diana hugged her niece tighter. Later she heard him crying.
"Tita, doesn't daddy love us? Why didn't he marry mommy? Why did he let mommy suffer alone in raising me? Do you know that back then mommy often didn't eat just so she could keep me alive? Why didn't daddy look for us? Does he really love Miss Ivana? Is there no chance for our family to be complete? You know Tita Diana, even though daddy left us and didn't recognize us as his wife and son... do you know that I'm still ready to accept him and forgive him? I want to experience a father’s love... how it feels to have a daddy. I'm often jealous of my classmates because they have a daddy while I don't . Tita, please tell daddy that I want to talk to him. I want him and mommy to be okay. I can forget about his arrears to us as long as he takes back mommy and me," Yael said crying.
Tears welled up in Diana's eyes. Even the old woman who sheltered Yael started crying because of the words of the child that she considered as her own grandson.
"Yael, when did you know the truth?" asked Diana.
"When we were still in Escueza. I saw daddy then. He looks just like me and then I saw him and mommy together at the mall when we went shopping," Yael answered.
Diana's mouth fell open. She couldn't stop crying. "I'm…I'm sorry, Yael. I'm sorry if I didn't tell you the truth, back then," she said.
"I'm sorry too, tita. I'm sorry because I didn't tell you all what I found out before. I want to observe and get to know you from afar. Mommy also want to keep me away from the Grays so I can't tell her. I was really sad because none of you told me the truth. Even mommy lied to me over and over again," said Yael.
Diana patted Yael's back. "You know how much your mommy loves you, right?"
 Yael nodded.
"You're still young, Yael. When you grow up, you'll understand everything better. There's a reason why your mommy kept my brother a secret from you. My brother also has a reason why he didn't look for you. As for me, I don't want to lead your parents so I will remain silent. It's a sign of respect, Yael. Even your grandfather and Tito Jackson, they also have their own reasons. I won't force you to forgive each of us," said Diana.
"I'm not mad at you, I'm just really upset with Tito Jackson," said Yael.
Diana slipped out of Yael's embrace. She held him by the shoulder and looked him directly in his eyes. "What about Tito Jackson?" she asked even though she had already a hunch.
"He kidnapped me, tita. He even tried to kill me. I thought... I thought he's kind. He loves my mommy so I thought we're good. He was kind to me but why did he do that tita? I tried asking myself several times about it until I had acquired an amnesia." The confusion was evident in Yael's eyes.
'He even knew about amnesia? This kid is rare!' Diana thought. "I'm sorry if you have to go through that, Yael. I'm sorry on behalf of my brother. Don't worry, he's already imprisoned. He won't hurt you anymore. There are more of us who love you. We will protect you. We got your back, Yael," she said. She wiped her tears. "Stop crying, okay? Everything's fine now."
"Is mommy coming here?" Yael asked.
Diana nodded. Later on she frowned. "Who saved you from the hands of Kuya Jackson's men?"
Yael looked at the old woman with him. "I don't know him tita but grandma knows him," he replied.
Diana looked at the old woman. "May I know the name of the person who saved my nephew?" she asked.
The old woman stood up and then shook her head. "I have to go. You take care of my grandson. Don't leave him alone." She turned and started walking away from Yael and Diana.
Yael ran towards her grandmother and hugged her from behind. "Grandma, don't leave me. Stay here. Don't go back to the woods. You will only be miserable and sad there. Please, grandma, stay here by my side."
The old woman heard Yael's sobs. Her tears immediately fell. She bit her lower lip to stop her sobs. She slowly removed Yael's hands from her waist.
"I'm sorry Yael. I can't just leave my husband alone. I'm going to find him. Also, I'm guilty of you too. I'm an accomplice of the person who saved and hid you. Even your name I was able to change so that you don't remember who you are. I lied to you, grandson. Forgive grandma. In the short time we've been together, you've become an important person for me. You become my family for a short period of time. I'm happy that you can now go back to your real family. I love you, my grandson. Don't harbor anger in your heart. If they did something bad to you, that's not enough reason to be like them in the future. You're a good person, Yael. You're innocent and smart. I wish the best for you. My only wish as your grandma…I hope…I hope that you will not forget my face. I didn't tell you my name because it shouldn't be remembered. I'm a sinner, grandson. Grandma loves you," said the old woman .
"You have done nothing wrong with me, grandma! You saved my life! Even if you have done something wrong, the good in your heart still weighs more. What you did for me was not a joke. You get out of the woods to accompany me here in the city even though you're not familiar with it. You helped me find this place even though you knew it was possible for you to get lost back home. I love you even though you're not my real grandma! Please, don't leave!" Yael said tearfully.
"I'm sorry, grandson, but the person I love needs me. I need to get him—"
Diana and Yael ran when the old woman suddenly lost consciousness. Diana immediately called her husband to rush the old woman to the nearest hospital. Yael couldn't stop crying. When Hulyo arrived, they quickly ran the old woman to where their car was. While the old woman was unconscious, Yael continued to cry.
"G-grandma, wake up. D-don't leave us behind. Wake up, grandma," Yael said crying.
Diana hugged her nephew and ordered Hulyo to drive even faster. She was also worried about the old woman. She is the same age as her father.
'Papa? How is he? I hope he doesn't think about coming home here. I should not have told him that Yael was with me. If something happens to papa, my brothers will never forgive me and I won't forgive myself either,' thought Diana.

Freya's eyes looked around. She got off the plane and now she is waiting for someone to pick her up. Because Jacob entrusted her to his men.
"Those men are taking too long. Can I just take a taxi?" Freya said annoyed. "Okay. I will wait for at least ten minutes. If they haven't arrived, I will just co-commute to LNGC," she said.
She would have gone straight to Grays Condotel in case she thought to say hello and surprise Diana first. She already knew that Diana is pregnant. Even though they had a misunderstanding before, she has forgiven her because she has been a good person to her and Yael.
"I'm going to help Diana. I'm sure she'll be happy when she finds out that her niece is still alive," Freya whispered.
Ten minutes later, there was still no one to pick her up so she started booking a car on the Grabb app. She frowned when she didn't see an available driver and car. She tried to approach the taxis that stopped on the road but she was always ahead.
"What the hell! When I'm in a hurry, I don't get some help from ab—" She stopped speaking when suddenly a black Hyundai Eon car stopped right in front of her. She smiled. "I thought, I'll be annoyed all day."
Freya immediately boarded the car because she was afraid of being grabbed again by other waiting passengers.
"Kuya, bring me to La Niños Group of Companies," said Freya as she arranged her suitcase by her side. She forgot to lock the car door. When she was about to lock it, she was surprised when the driver suddenly locked it. She was suddenly nervous but she calmed herself down. She slowly looked at the rearview mirror to see what the driver looked like. Suddenly her eyes widened. "Y…You?"
