"Am I wrong? What do you even mean? Are we still talking about the food?" I continuously asked because I was getting puzzled by what he was trying to say. Quintin strengthened his back while standing. He put both his hands in the pockets of the black slacks he was wearing that day like he had something inside his pocket that he would surprisingly throw on me. I saw his chest move up and down. He seemed too nervous, but I didn't know why. "About you, baby," he replied shortly. My eyebrows met when I heard the word "your" from him. Quintin was smiling a bit, which I found so confusing in that state. "W-what about the baby?" I asked. The smile I saw from his lips faded and that turned on the nervous button inside me. He became serious, uneasy about what he was about to say, but I tried to prepare myself in a short period although it was not enough when he finally spilled something in front of me. "The baby didn't come from me, Ellie." I felt how fast my eyes widen. For a few minutes, I just froze, and Quintin didn't say any words after. He let me process what he just said first, and when I finally found words to say, he answered every one of them. "H-how? How did it happen? I thought it was you; you were there. You were the one who donated." "Yes, I was there. I truly came that day, but Felicity convinced me not to donate." He paused and because I needed more information on how it happened, I let him continue without interrupting him. "Felicity said donating to you would only put me into trouble in the near future. I was his client and he wanted to help. He told me he was only saving me that day, but I have a strong feeling Felicity stopped me because he didn't want to be your child's father." He chuckled. He was true to that. I would put Quintin in trouble someday. I knew I dragged him into something because of my selfishness, but we made a contract, and that was enough to stop any future problems related to the child. I get it. I got it that Aqui's father was not him, but who donated those overflowing s*m*n? Felicity crossed my mind because Quintin mentioned it was him who stopped and helped him that day, but I couldn't imagine it. "I-If it was not you, then who is my child's father?" I was stammering when I let out this question because I was scared of the answer I would get. "I know you already have your speculations in mind, Elyana. Even if I wanted to give the confirmation now, I'm not in the position. I also promised not to lead him in telling the truth, but now that you have a clue, it's all up to you what you would do next to find out the other pieces of information," Quintin replied. I was expecting a straight answer, a name from him, but it seemed I wouldn't get other names. "Yeah, I have someone in mind, but how? How he did do it? I just can't imagine knowing he is a—" I intentionally cut my word after I heard a noise coming outside. I thought my parents were already there and I instantly got frightened, but after a few moments when no one opened the door, I felt some relief that it was not them. "Would you like a demo on how he did it?" Quintin asked teasingly. I wanted to strangle him that time. We were in a serious conversation and he still managed to joke around. "I'm just kidding! You're so serious," he took it back right after I gazed at him. My head would get hurt when I talked to him for one whole day. He always has a silly thing to say. He apologized for his mischievousness and because he wouldn't stop, I forgave him before my head got hurt by his noises and nonsense jokes. He accompanied me for a couple more minutes because my parents hadn't come back yet, however, knowing he needed to go to his office and work, I convinced him to leave because I knew I would be fine there alone. When he was gone, I continued to sew the puzzle pieces together in my mind. I was also sorting thoughts and preparing all the questions I should be asking my dear best friend who had been keeping a secret for a long time without me noticing. While I was thinking, I heard the doorknob turn. I thought it was my parents already, but it was not them. I raised my head to see who was the silly person looking through the small space of the slightly opened door. Those grayish eyes were no other than Felicity. My heart started pounding at this moment, but I tried to hide it. "Get in," I told him, and the eye I saw peeking immediately disappeared. I waited for him to close the door and walked closer, but I didn't understand why it took him so much time to get closer. I prepared so many questions for him, but in all of those, there was only one that was more important than the others. "A-are you my son's father?" I thought I wouldn't be able to utter this. Felicity quickly looked away from me by bowing his head, but I didn't let him escape from not answering that one big question. I gave him enough time first. It was too obvious how surprised he was, but it seemed he was halfway ready. He raised his head and looked straight into my eyes. "I am..." he finally answered and I didn't see any shame or guilt in it.
