Chapter 96
Elyana's POV
We boarded the plane before nine o'clock in the evening. Mixed emotions were stirring up inside my heart. I was excited that we finally got back home and, at the same time, worried about Helen and that I couldn't get back to her before she got a chance to hold my son, just like she wished for.
I wanted to fulfill that as soon as I could. I knew my parents would understand and they would help me sort everything out for Aqui to meet Helen.
I was that preoccupied when I saw Felipe staring suspiciously at me. I frowned and he immediately looked away. He took his cellphone out of his pocket like nothing and started scrolling through it.
I thought that was it, but it happened a few times during the flight and whenever I caught him, he would try to ignore me. I tried ignoring him as well and pretended it wasn't bothering me until I fell asleep.
We arrived in the Philippines before lunch after the plane stopped over in Dubai because Dad asked the pilot to pick up a package from there.
With those long hours, I haven't heard Felipe say anything. It was quite surprising because he was the type who kept talking a lot.
"Do you have a problem, Bakla?" I asked when I couldn't stand it any longer, but it seemed he didn't hear anything.
We were close to the car waiting for us, but I still didn't get an answer and it was pissing me off.
"Why you're talking? Did I do something?" I asked, but still the same.
He was playing deaf. We reached the car and he was about to open the car door when I thought of grabbing his arm to stop him from getting in.
"What is your problem?" I repeated. He stopped and he let go of the door. He turned and looked straight into my eyes and I felt a chill when I saw how fiercely he looked at me.
"When can you stop calling me Bakla?" he asked instead of answering. He deepened his baritone voice when he spoke every word and because I was still holding his arm, I felt the vibration from his throat.
I couldn't say a word. He grabbed his arm from my hold and went inside the car. The driver who just finished putting our luggage inside the compartment was the one who opened the door for me.
I went in in silence. The car started moving. Felipe was sitting in the backseat the same as me. He was near but he seemed so far away at that moment. I waited for him to say anything, but he didn't seem to have any intention of talking.
I somehow miss the nagger best friend of mine who wouldn't stop talking until he let out everything inside his mind. The person sitting next to me at that time was a whole different person and he seemed to be acting like a woman having a rough time because of her period.
"If you don't like me calling you Bakla then okay. Just say it nicely and stop acting like you're a real woman in her monthly period," I uttered to get his attention.
I saw him sigh without looking at me. He turned his head in front just to lean his head on the headrest of his seat. When he closed his eyes, my level of annoyance for what he had been doing rose to its peak.
I would rather travel in a different car than sit with someone like him. I hated it whenever he did that; he ignored me like I was just an air around him.
"Pull the car over!" I ordered the driver, who suddenly panicked when I shouted at him.
"Keep driving," Felipe ordered the driver calmly.
"No! Stop this car!" I yelled and I made sure the driver would be scared at that moment not to listen to Felipe.
The car stopped on the side of the road.
"Thank you," I told the driver, who was looking worriedly into the rearview mirror to check what was going on with the two of us in the backseat.
"We're not going home until you tell me your real problem," I said. "If you were offended because that's what I still call you, Bakla, then sorry. How many times do I need to apologize?" I continued.
"Can you leave us for a moment, Mario?" he asked the driver, who immediately went outside to give us privacy. The driver walked a little further from the car as well, and when he was far enough, Felipe turned to me.
I saw fire in his eyes that made me swallow.
"Why can't you talk now?" he asked with a hint of anger in his tone of voice.
My brain didn't seem to want to process. His gaze was frightening as if he would yell at me once I started talking again.
He rolled down the window next to him when I could utter a word.
"Let's go, Mario," he called the driver outside.
I wanted to slap myself for not speaking up. I should have said something to clear things up.
When we reached the mansion, Felipe immediately went outside without even bothering to say anything.
"It looks like you made Sir angry, Miss Elyana," the driver commented as we watched Felipe march away.
'I hope not,' I thought, but with how he reacted, there was no doubt.
When I entered the house, Mom and Dad acted weird when I greeted them. They didn't ask me first how the flight was or how I felt; they interrogated me by asking first what I did to Felipe.
I had no choice but to tell them what happened. Things I knew happened because I was unaware if there was something else aside from that for him to act like I made a big and unforgivable mistake.
"I understand how he feels," Dad said when I was done explaining.
"Me too," Mom followed and the maid near us, who tasted Felipe's bad mood, nodded.
I felt I was the only one who couldn't understand things at that time. Everyone seemed to be on his side.
"I will just steal Sir Felipe if you will just hurt him like that, Miss Elyana." I raised my head when I heard that from one of the servants. I knew who it was; it was Daldalita.
"I'm sure I will have a cute child, just like Aqui. The five-foot-flat height will finally be erased from our race! Then we will have a family member with a light complexion and blue or gray eyes," she added, as she fantasized.
I knew those were only jokes, but I couldn't find a reason to laugh at what she said. Imagining that Felipe would be sleeping with her instantly made me furious. I couldn't bear to see him with someone else.
As I listened to Daldalita, I felt a strong desire to grab her by the neck, especially when she didn't want to stop voicing out all her fantasies, which made my mind go crazy.Download Novelah App
