Vol 2 Chapter 1 The Chaos Within #8
Jackson and the speedster both looked at each other. They nodded their heads as a sign of being ready for battle. The two of them then rushed towards the tyrant ‘Jake’, and the tyrant responded by letting out a roar as if they were about to engage in a boss fight. The tyrant held onto his scythe tightly; he began to swing at Jackson the second he got near him. Jackson dodged the attack, and the speedster took a brief moment of recovery of the tyrant to land a couple of fast yet precise punches onto both the right thigh and stomach. Despite the lack of communication, they fight in perfect sync, as if they were one person. The onslaught of punches continued; tyrant ‘Jake’ could only swing his scythe around, hoping to hit one of them as he was still not wholly controlling the body. The tyrant noticed he didn’t stand a chance, so he went into complete defense, blocking and enduring incoming attacks, siphoning the souls it consumed to heal itself. After almost half an hour, Jackson and the speedster grew tired. Jackson had taken quite an amount of damage, and his energy was also depleting rapidly, causing the effectiveness of his healing factor to diminish. On the other hand, the speedster did not sustain any damage but is completely exhausted due to his high metabolism to keep his body running.
Jackson: “I know you don’t talk much, but I need you to help me make an opening. I need to stab him in the heart with this.”
The speedster nodded in silence, and they both carried out the plan. The speedster mustered up his remaining energy and ran straight towards the tyrant at sonic speed, but the tyrant kept his blocking stance. However, it was all according to his plan. The speedster lands a punch on the arms of the tyrant, which creates a small sonic blast; the tyrant is also blown back, making him unbalanced. Jackson saw the opening and ran towards ‘Jake’, jumping up, pulling his hands behind him while holding the crystal, aiming for the heart, and was ready to stab him. Jackson thought he had ‘Jake’ right where he wanted him, and blood was spewed out. ‘Jake’ had transfigured his body to form a sharp spike from his gut. It skewered Jackson through the center of the chest ‘Jake’ then altered the shape of his left hand into a sharp sword, slicing Jackson’s right arm off; Jackson’s arm was soon flung behind him along with the crystal he held onto that hand. The speedster came from behind Jake, trying to land a sneak attack, but due to his fatigue, the speedster’s speed drastically decreased, causing him to slow down immensely. ‘Jake’ heard his running from behind, and he turned around and smacked the speedster into the building on the right. The speedster was knocked out cold, ‘Jake’ laughs as he had achieved victory; the spike soon returns to the body, and Jackson’s body falls onto the ground. Luckily, with Jarvis' help, Jackson is kept alive, and his soul remains within the body, ‘Jake’ sees what Jarvis is doing, and he raises his scythe high; he intends to harvest the soul by forcing it out of the body.
‘Jake’: “VicTORy….IS…..Mine…”
Before ‘Jake’ could harvest Jackson’s soul, a crow flew towards the tyrant with the crystal held on by its two feet; as it was about to land on ‘Jake’, it transformed into The Shaman. ‘Jake’ notices the crow at the very last second; it is already too late for ‘Jake’ to defend himself. She grabbed onto the shoulder of the tyrant and stabbed the crystal right at the heart of ‘Jake’. ‘Jake’ drops his scythe and slowly walks backward, trying to stay within the body of Jake; he screams in agony as the process of soul splitting takes place. His body shakes uncontrollably, and two faces emerge from the side, taking along the chaos infused into Jake’s body; the two chaos entities were soon removed from Jake’s body, giving Jake back control over his own body. Jake and the other two chaos entities fall to the ground unconscious, each with their bodies. The Shaman, without any hesitation, ran towards Jake, getting down on her knees and trying her best to wake Jake up.
The Shaman: “Please wake up, Jake. Please come back to me, my son.”
Jake slowly opens up his eyes, looking up at The Shaman.
Jake: “Did..you..just call me, son?”
The Shaman nodded, face full of joy to see her son alive. The happy reunion of mother and son soon came to an end. The Shaman was stabbed through the chest with the scythe, killing her almost instantly. Jake’s eyes widened, having to witness the death of her mother. The Shaman falls to the ground; Imposter Jake is seen laughing while holding onto the scythe. Jake sat up and pulled his mother into his arms, desperately telling her not to die.
The Shaman: “Don’t cry, my son. There’s nothing you can do to save me. Just promise me this one thing: never let anger control you.”
Jake: “I won’t; please, just don’t go. I don’t want to lose you again.”
The Shaman: “It’ll be okay, my son.”
The Shaman, with her last dying breath, places her right hand firmly onto Jake’s right cheek, saying her final words.
The Shaman: “I…Love…You…Norman…”
Her hands fell onto the ground, her pupils dilated, and her body grew cold. Jake, filled with sorrow, cried while hugging her dead mother tightly in his arms. That sorrow soon turned into anger, and that anger soon turned into raw power.
Imposter Jake: “Humans tend to be so damn fragile. It’s a shame the Entity of Order is keeping her soul. She would’ve made a good source of energy. Oh well, guess we will use your soul instead.”
The Imposter slowly walked behind Jake; having said those words fueled the fire burning within Jake even more. The Imposter raises the soul scythe.
Imposter Jake: “WITNESS TRUE CALAMITY JAKE!”
The Imposter swings the scythe downwards at Jake. The Imposter loses his joyful face as he sees the scythe shatter upon impact on Jake’s shoulder. Jake, still holding onto her mother’s lifeless body tightly, slowly placed her down on the ground.
Jake: “May your soul be free from this torment, Mother.”
Her body soon turns into small bits of light, floating in the air before fading away. Jake wiped off the tears on his face, standing up. Jake turned his body towards the Imposter, and the fire burning within Jake grew stronger. Jake clenched his fist and dashed; the Imposter did not have any time to react; in just one blink, Jake was already standing in front of him. Trying to land a punch, Jake grabbed onto the Imposter’s arm and landed a point-blank gut shot. The Imposter could not stand straight, his stomach clenching up. Jake then lifts the Imposter. Right as Jake was about to punch the Imposter hard in the face, he looked behind him and saw The Boogeyman repairing the scythe with the souls he collected. It then raises it, ready to slash down at Jackson. Jake turned his body around, pulling the Imposter sideways. Jake placed his hand on the stomach of the Imposter, aiming towards the Boogeyman. Jake fired a small yet powerful energy beam, pushing the Imposter toward The Boogeyman, knocking both of them afar. Jake rushes towards Jackson; Jake grabs the scythe and throws it at a wall, causing it to get stuck. Jake then carries Jackson; he runs to the speedster’s location but finds no one there. Jake looked around but saw nothing; he then decided to bring Jackson to a safe area, far away from the battle. After that, Jake rushes back to the area, the two chaos entities recovering themselves from the blast. Jake taunted them to attack him.
Jake: “And here I thought you guys were strong; guess it was just all inside my head. You two are nothing compared to the battles I’ve gone through.”
Imposter Jake: “Don’t be so full of yourself.”
Jake: “Oh, I am. Because if I weren’t talking shit, you guys wouldn’t still be standing. I’m only suppressing my anger for now, but make this fight more difficult, and I won’t be playing nice till’ then.”
The two rushed Jake, slashing and punching. But it was no use; Jake effortlessly blocked and dodged every attack. Jake then kicked and punched back. Sending them into the nearby buildings, The Boogeyman lunges out of the building and back into the battle. Jake slowly becomes more impatient with every second he has to look at The Boogeyman. Jake began to be pissed off by the fact of it using his body to take innocent lives. Jake’s punches gradually became stronger, more precise, and faster. Jake stopped holding back and beat The Boogeyman to a pulp. Regardless of what attacks The Boogeyman threw at him, Jake kept punching and punching, till’ the point where The Boogeyman could not be recognised if not up close. Jake wanted to land one final punch to smash its head, but an incoming attack then stopped him. Jake leaps behind him. The Imposter stands beside The Boogeyman, who is moribund, holding onto the soul scythe.
Imposter Jake: “I would like to thank you for getting my…’ companion’ here weak for me.”
The Boogeyman: “ChAOs….Will….ReIGn…..VIctOuRioUs..”
The Imposter stabs The Boogeyman in the chest. Killing him, he then uses the scythe to absorb all the souls accumulated within The Boogeyman, including The Boogeyman itself. Once the scythe absorbed all the souls, the scythe changed its appearance, emitting a dark pulse. The chaos soon becomes a part of the Imposter, darkening the skin of the Imposter from the hand to a small part of his body.
The Imposter: “Yesss….The power….It feels amazing….”
The two began rushing towards each other, with Jake punching the Imposter and the Imposter swinging his scythe. No matter how much Jake punched, the Imposter just kept going, as if Jake was only punching a solid wall. He could only keep dodging and punching while the Imposter laughed at his pathetic attempts.
The Imposter: “There’s nothing you can do, Jake. You are…weak….”
Jake was caught off guard, getting punched in the face; he was then slashed in the chest, leaving a bloody line mark. Jake breathed heavily, yet he was still not ready to give up. He stood back up, focusing his eyes on his imposter self and returning to the battle. Jake, trying to turn the ties, was easily outmatched by the Imposter’s spike in power. Jake could only delay the world’s end. Jackson slowly walks towards the area, leaning against the wall.
Jackson: “God, I wished that son of a bitch didn’t put me so far away.”
Jackson, having to see the fight, was too weak even to interfere.
Jackson: “My body is too fucked up to help him. But I have to think of a plan…..What if you return to Jake, Jarvis?”
Jarvis: “No, I’m not going. If I do, you’ll die. Not to mention, Jake’s imposter self is currently overpowering him; if I detached, I’ll risk getting caught and used by the Imposter.”
Jackson: “But he’s going to die if we don’t do anything. And how is he still holding out without you by his side?”
Jarvis: “Jake’s mimicry does not require me; I’m only there to act as a companion in guiding Jake and suppressing his strength to a normal level so as not to cause mass destruction accidentally. As for helping him, you are far too weak to transfer your energy to him…Unless…”
Jackson: “Unless what?”
Jarvis: “I have an idea.”
Jarvis materializes a camera drone into the air.
Jackson: “Are you recording this?”
Jarvis: “Technically, no. I’m broadcasting this fight worldwide; I need your voice.”
Jarvis broadcasts the fight worldwide, from televisions to giant digital billboards. Everyone gathered around, watching a fight between Jake and his imposter self.
Jarvis: “We should get as far as we could. It is already hard for Jake to fight him. If we were caught, Jake would be guaranteed a loss.”
Jackson walks away quietly; he forces his body to heal quickly, enduring a great amount of pain without screaming. He then ran away as far as he could without losing the signal of the drone. Jackson opens up a hologram using Jarvis to watch Jake fight. Jackson then broadcast his voice to the audience to let them know what was going on.
Jackson: “To all the citizens of this world, we need your help….There’s not much time for me to explain this….But the one fighting with his bare fists is the hero, and the one with the scythe is the villain….The hero is currently losing as his energy is gradually decreasing, and he cannot fight for much longer; we need to lend him strength and hope. Or it will be the end of us all.”
???: “What is this…Some internet prank?”
???: “Could just be an advertisement for a movie.”
The people watched and ignored the cry for help, thinking it was all made up. The cosplayers who saw the broadcast on their phones raised their hands to the sky while saying this line out loud.
The cosplayers: “WE BELIEVE IN YOU, HERO!”
Small glows of light flew out of the cosplayer's hands and into the sky. The lights were directed towards where Jake was fighting.
The Imposter held Jake by the neck.
The Imposter: “Just give up already…You will never win.”
Jake: “Over….My….Dead….Body…”
The Imposter swings his scythe, aiming for his gut. Jake holds onto the scythe, pushing it back from him. Jake is too tired to continue the fight, and he can only stall for a bit longer before his soul is taken. During the struggle, a small beam of light flies into Jake. Jake was able to push the scythe a bit further. Soon, a bigger clump of light flies into Jake. And Jake manages to hold onto the scythe much more easily than before. Jake grabs onto the Imposter’s arm on his neck. He pulls his body back and kicks the Imposter, sending him backward and freeing him from the Imposter’s grasp.
The Imposter: “Ha….Seems like you have some dumbasses giving you energy….How pathetic…”
Jake remains silent, thinking of how there were people who believed in him and had hopes for him. Jake stood up once again but was soon brought down by the Imposter.
The Imposter: “What do you think this is? Some fantasy is where the hero gets all this mysterious power out of nowhere. Why don’t you use your brain for once? You…Cannot….WIN!”
The Imposter then kicks Jake into the building in front of him. The glass of the skyscraper shattered upon impact. A large hole was left in the building. The scene was still being broadcast, but still, no one seemed to buy it. A girl was watching the news, and seeing the face of the hero, she immediately recognized him. She, too, held her hand up, lending strength and hope to Jake, along with her father. Two small lights flowed out of them, their lights were more different than others, more brighter and stronger. In the hospital, the speedster saw the news and lent out his strength and hopes as well. His light was too strong, and he gave him most of his remaining energy to cleanse the guilt he had. The Imposter slowly approached the building when he saw three more beams of light going to where Jake was. Yet, he did nothing but laugh. The lights flowed into Jake, healing him moderately. Jake opens his eyes and gets up slowly; he questions why the lights healed him this time.
Jake: “Those lights, they felt…warm…like home….and….guilt?”
Jake then has a vision, seeing the 3 people who gave him strength. It was none other than his childhood friend, Kate, and her father, along with the speedster in the hospital. Jake felt the warmth of his family, along with the trust of the unknown speedster who ran away from the fight, yet Jake does not blame him for what he has done.
Jake: “Those 3 people believed in me; they used their hopes to give me strength. Now…I’ll use my anger to keep them safe.”
Dark clouds began forming above the area, lighting striking down on the ground. Jake jumps down from the building.
Jake: “Those lights weren’t a primary source of power. They were the hopes of people, the hopes that they had for me. Those alone were enough to keep me fighting, even if I was at my dying breath.”
The Imposter: “Enough with the bullshit talk. Just fucking accept your demise. I’m growing very impatient fighting with an arrogant runt like you. Why can’t you die easily like your mother.”
Jake clenches his teeth and fists, angered by the words that come out of his mouth. More lighting began striking down from above.
Jake: “YOU STOLE MY BODY, AND YOU USED MY BODY TO TAKE INNOCENT LIVES, HURT MY FRIENDS. AND YOU KILLED MY MOTHER. AND YOU STILL DARE TO TELL ME TO STAY DOWN.”
Jake’s hair flashes yellow, the ground begins shaking, and small rocks begin to levitate. Although The Imposter knew Jake was too tired to continue the fight, he suddenly had second thoughts when he saw the immense power coming from Jake.
Jake: “I PROMISED MY MOTHER TO NOT LET MY ANGER CONTROL ME. SO INSTEAD, I’LL USE IT AGAINST. I….WILL MAKE…YOU….”
The Imposter quickly rushes towards Jake, ready to kill him before he can transform. But he was deemed too late.
Jake: “PAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!”
The immense power spike blew away the Imposter. A large beam of light shone from Jake to the sky, creating a small beacon. The light fades, and the dust settles, leaving Jake with a yellow aura surrounding him; his pupils turn green, and his hair turns golden. Jake had achieved a form of strength, a form of anger and pride, a form from a true warrior race. He has become….A Super Saiyan. Jake calms his breath, controlling his anger.
Jake: “Now then…Let the true battle commence.”
The Imposter: “Ha, you are still doing it, I see. Pushing yourself when you know you can’t win. You are such a pain in the ass.”
The Imposter raises his scythe; he swings the scythe downwards, creating an energy slash of pure chaos. The slash slices through the building in half like butter, but Jake is nowhere to be seen. As the Imposter was about to siphon out more souls from the scythe, he noticed his arm was missing. He looked around, and behind, and that’s when he saw Jake holding on to the ripped-out limb of his. Jake throws the limb along with the scythe away. He turns his body towards the Imposter. His face is neutral, his eyes staring. The Imposter took a step back as if he were fighting someone beyond his level.
The Imposter: “Impossible. How could you still move that fast.”
Jake: “It was all thanks to you. You showed me that one’s energy isn’t the only source of power but fury. You provoked my anger, tempting me to lose control, but I’ve now controlled it, and I’ll use it to kill you.”
Before the Imposter could make a move, Jake was already in front of him, his eyes full of rage. He punched the Imposter in the face, sending him backward; Jake teleported behind the Imposter, followed by an uppercut. Jake kept punching the Imposter, with each punch stronger than the previous one. The Imposter was juggled around, yet he could not do anything; it all happened so fast, even for him. Before he knew it, he was sent flying into the air and smashed down to the ground, creating a giant crater and causing the other buildings within the area to collapse.
Jarvis: “See what I mean.”
Jackson: “Yea…We should stop the broadcast and also him from causing more damage.”
Jackson, being almost fully healed, runs towards the battle; he stops the broadcast to avoid further concerns about Jake. Upon arriving in the area, Jackson saw Jake beating his imposter self to a pulp. With one last punch, Jake punctures the Imposter’s chest, pulling out his heart before crushing it in front of him. Jake saw Jackson; then he looked at his hands. They were covered in blood. Jake took a deep breath, thinking it was all over; his hair returned to its original color, along with his pupils. He stood up, looking at the lifeless body of the Imposter.
Jake: “May your soul rot in hell.”
Jake walked out of the crater; his legs were unstable and unbalanced. Jackson caught Jake before he fell, carrying him with one hand on his shoulder.
Jackson: “You did great out there.”
Jake: “Heh, I wouldn’t really say it was ‘great’, more like a lucky comeback.”
They slowly walked away from the ruble; without getting far, they sensed that the battle was yet to be over. Looking behind them, they saw the Imposter hovering in the air with his torn-out arm back in place. He held the scythe and absorbed every last drop of chaos energy left from it. He then throws the scythe away as it is no longer useful to him; he charges up a dark energy blast from the palm of his hand, and slowly, it grows bigger and bigger.
Jackson: “I WILL REIGN VICTORIOUS, EVEN IF I HAVE TO TAKE THIS WRETCHED PLANET DOWN WITH ME!”
Jake took a few steps forward, using the remaining energy he had left and channeling it into his palms. Jackson walked by his side, following Jake.
Jake & Jackson: “KAAAAAAA……MEEEEEEEEEE………..HAAAAAAAAA…….MEEEEEEE……”
The Imposter: “TIME TO DIE!”
Jake & Jackson: “HAAAAAAAAAAAA!”
The ball of chaos energy collided with the energy wave. A beam struggle begins. The energy ball of chaos overpowers their waves, slowly pushing forward.
The Imposter: “VICTORY IS STILL IN MY FAVOUR, JAKE. EVEN WITH A NEW FORM, YOU ARE BUT A PATHETIC AS A SHEPHERD WITHOUT HIS FLOCK.”
Jake: “I won’t be looked down on, even by the likes of you. MY FURY WOULD NEVER FADE. I WILL NEVER SURRENDER. I….AM….JAKE!”
Jake: “AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!”
Jake once again turns into the warrior in golden. Jackson, upon hearing his speech, too channeled every bit of his energy into the energy wave. The waves too soon grew bigger and stronger. It soon began to push back the energy ball of chaos.
Jake & Jackson: “HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.”
The ball of chaotic energy was no match for the heroes’ last stand. It was being pushed back at an alarming rate; there was nothing the Imposter could do but accept defeat. The ball was at last pushed back into the Imposter.
The Imposter: “IM…POOOSSSI…BLEEEE.”
A huge explosion was followed through and dust flew around. Once the dust had settled, the Imposter was gone; the only thing that was left behind was the essence of chaos.
Jackson: “That chaos essence is the soul of the Imposter. We have to seal him away fast.”
Jarvis: “I got the perfect thing.”
Jarvis opens up his inventory and materializes a snow globe in Jake’s hand.
Jake: “Why do you have a snow globe?”
Jarvis: “I don’t know. I have it.”
Jake: “Well then, time to trap this bitch.”
Jake got near to the chaos essence. It detected the presence of Jake and flew straight towards him, Jake waited for it to get closer. He then mimicked soul trapping, trapping the Imposter in the snow globe. Jake flew down to Jackson, showing them the trapped soul of the Imposter.
The Imposter: “I will break free from this, and I…WILL MY HAVE RE….”
Before he could finish his sentence, Jake shakes the snow globe. The two laughed, and Jake placed the snow globe back into Jarvis. The two lay on the ground for a while, happy that the fight was over and they could get some rest. The two got up, and they high-fived each other. Jarvis detached and got back onto Jake.
Jackson: “Was fun while it lasted.”
Jarvis: “Don’t worry, I’ve left some enhancements to your powers and gave you the ability to fly with the help of Jake’s DNA.”
Jackson: “Thanks.”
Jake: “Let’s go home.”
The two left the area.
Jake: “I’m so gonna get scolded for destroying the area.”
Jarvis: “It’ll be fine. Also, glad to have you back.”
Jake: “Me too, Jarvis…Me too."Download Novelah App
