Chapter 22

Minh's POV...
"Excuse me, Big Sister, how many more sets?"
I turn my head up from my phone to see a guy who looks like he is around my age standing next to the smith machine. Damn, he actually had the audacity to call me big sister as if I'm older than him. To add, he is wearing a dark gray shirt along with white pants and white socks. Man, he really be trying to make the most boring gym OTD out of all time. But anyway, I still have 2 more sets so might as well just tell him about it so he could finally leave me in peace.
"Umm....2 sets," I say. Short, simple, yet at least not too rude to get him to think that I have a beef with him. Believe me that a lot of people say I have a rude looking aura.
You know, sometimes I even wonder how come people often assume me to be rude, just because I don't smile often and I have this habit of giving short answers. Believe me when I say that I've seen people with actual rude faces with even more rude attitudes. Eeww...
"Oh, ok," the guy says. I assumed he was gonna go run away to some other machines after this.
Yet....why in the world is he stilll standing there? Isn't he suppose to be working out? What's more crazy is that he just pulled out his phone and is now busy with his phone WHILE standing next to the smith machine. What the...I'm speechless. I want to say that this guy is really trying to get my damn attention, but sorry. I'll continue with my sets ASAP.
"Hello, Mommy. Yeah I'm still working out right now since I wanna build some big muscles so yeah bye bye," says the boy with a super cheesy tone on the phone.
I was just about to start my second set when I decided to inhale some air first after what I just heard. I suddenly feel sick after hearing what I didn't wish to hear. That dude really be calling his mother in the most "mommy's son" manner and he probably thinks that he sounded cute. Again, eeww...
A few hours later...
8:30 PM...
At Sir Francis' Table...
"And overall, it was well," says a middle aged man before he takes a sip of his red wine, in which he personally thought would go perfect with his fine set of medium-well steak.
Nar continues to take another bite of his steak. Despite his concern of his daily high-protein in take, yet when it comes to personal preference, Nar is more fond of Asian cuisines, with most of them including Japanese, Korean, and of course Thai. Since working in Ho Chi Minh, he has also develoup an interest in Vietnamese cuisines, which he found some to be quite delicious.
I should go get sushi tomorrow. Nar thought.
As his eyes starts to feel the effect from the red wine, his mind starts to travel at all the randomness. At least for tonight, he is happy to say that he's not stressing over the dinner meeting since it turned out pretty well. Yet, he finds himself stressing over things he thought he probably shouldn't be thinking about during a meeting even when he is a bit tipsy. As random as it sounds, Nar knew his mind too well that his thoughts would let himself feel overwhelmed with the amount of overthinking about too much that could go on in one man's head. And what could possibly make the young man so overwhelmed in his head other than work hectic? Past traumas, responsibilities, delusions, and even just being honest to himself whether he's not feeling ok seems like a challenge to him. Sometimes he likes to avoid facing the pain just because he is afraid of being true to himself, knowing that him being a sensitive person could easily get hurt. That's why he chose to be delusional, and even dramatic sometimes, without anyone knowing.
The only time where his mind doesn't actually lead him to feel overwhelmed is when he is working out. That's the only time when his mind can actually relax. He would say that the feeling he gets is just as good as kissing a girl with pure love. Only, when it comes to love, Nar still often feels insecure and secretly fears of getting hurt. By that, sometimes he chose to distance himself and act more like a player as his "image". By that, despite being a deeply sensitive and romantic person, Nar often has a toxic view of genuinely romantic relationships.
That girl. Huhh...she's kind of funny. Nar thought as the thought of a familiar girl at the gym pops up inside his head all of a sudden. He didn't intentionally planned to think about her tonight, but when the thought of her child-like soul and gentle nature sometimes makes Nar wonder about her. For a girl who looks like she has everything together, she looks like she's too naive to know better about the bitter sides of attraction and romantic feelings. He sometimes found it cute knowing that there is a young girl who is both brave yet naive enough to fall for him, even after he told her that he has a girlfriend. Well, yet he also feels like he kind of lured her in the first place, since he never told her anything about his status in the beginning. In fact, he even send her some flirty texts at some points. Obviously he caused a misunderstanding, yet he is quite lucky enough to know that she didn't end up getting angry at him.
How naive. Nar thought, before letting out a small chuckle before he takes another sip of his red wine.
Meanwhile...
At Linh's apartment...
"And you know what's the worst part about him?" Minh asks as she puts her dirty dishes on the sink.
"What?" Linh asks before taking a sip of her warm Jasmine tea.
"That guy literally followed me around the gym. Like everytime I finished using an equipment, he suddenly has to come next to me and ask "excuse me, Big Sister, are you still using this?". Like, he obviously saw that I was doing kickbacks and no longer using the smith machine," Minh states in a both sarcastic yet dramatic tone.
"Well, that answers why he was always standing next to you," Hoang says as he continues to search the fridge for his carton of milk.
"Like, that guy is a total creep," Minh says. "I think I'm gonna call him Creepy Kid."
"Kid? Like, Sis, he literally looks older than you," Linh says.
"Yeah, but since he called me Big Sister, that just gives me a reason to call him a kid," Minh says in a sassy tone.
"Haha, whatever you say," says Linh as she heads over to the sink, ready to wash the dishes.
Sunday...
1:10 PM...
At the gym...
Linh's POV....
I enter the not-so crowded gym. Funny since I expect it to be a full house on Sunday. But anyway, this just means I don't have to wait too long to use the smith machine. It's leg day and I can't wait for a hot workout session.
"Hey!"
To be continue...
