Chapter 48 Facing truth

"What's up?" James taps his buddy's shoulder as he join him on his table.
Conrad lift his head, but looking at his state, James knew that his friend was already drunk.
His head seems so heavy that Conrad couldn't lift it straight. His eyes were half open too.
"Hey... You're here." Conrad lift his glass as if asking for a toast.
"You're drinking again. Let's go, I'll take you home." James could only say before pulling his friend up.
But Conrad just shrugged his arm. "Home? I don't want to go home yet." He said.
"Dude, what's up to you? I heard you're always doing this. Is there any problem?" He worriedly asked before sitting again.
This afternoon, he received a call from Meryll. Asking him if there's something going on with Conrad without her knowing. In her tone, it seems like the two were having something between them but he didn't dare to ask.
He decided to follow his friend on his whereabout after office hours and then, here he is. Drinking alone.
"I don't have any problem." He said. " I just want to get some air."
"While getting drunk?"
He chuckled upon hearing what I said.
"You're nuts." He seriously looked at him. "Tell me honestly, is there any problem going on between you and Meryll?"
James knew that if Conrad would say yes, he won't feel right for the truth. Yes, Conrad is his best friend, but Meryll is his cousin.
"Answer me, Bro. I know you. You won't be doing this if there is nothing wrong going on with you." Conrad remained silent. He was just there, drinking beside him. His eyes were lost. But he didn't want to break it to anyone. "Is there another person involve? A third party? Are you falling for somebody else?" He asked him frankly.
"No." He just said.
In love? Conrad wanted to laugh with the idea. He won't ever be in love with her. He was just feeling guilty about the words he said before she left. Nothing else. If there's a person who he could be in loved with, it was probably Meryll. She's a perfect person for him. The difference between the two woman is definitely like heaven and earth.
Though sometimes, he just don't understand what's going on inside him.

S&GM Group Main office.
Both Hilton and Collins elder couples are present at the conference room.
Though they don't have any idea of whom would be the complainant, they are even wondering why they have to meet at the main office of the countries most well-known company? They just can't get the connection of their children's case with the company.
But none of them are confident to asked.
At exactly ten o'clock, a woman on her formal suit, followed by a man with the same attire, entered the conference room. Both of them are holding brief cases and with straight faces. Not long after, a familiar woman on her fourties, and a young lady came in.
Both Mr. And Mrs. Collins were taken aback when they saw Siren, following Sylvia Blanco-Mendez.
"What are you doing here?" Mrs. Collins glared at the young lady with such disgust on her face.
As if she heard nothing, Siren, sat beside her mom. Jeff and Diana came in to and stood behind them.
"Should I greet everyone a good morning? Or we should go on to the main reason why we're here?" Sylvia speak first.
"Thank you for inviting us here, Madam Mendez. But I don't understand why this woman," Mrs. Collins never hide her disgust look on Siren. "..is here."
"What do you think will be the reason why she's here?" The woman raised the corner of her lips.
"Don't tell me, she's..."
"I remember that I introduced myself to you before, didn't I?" Siren said as she stared into Mrs. Collins's eyes. "But it looks like you already forgotten about it."
Mrs. Collins gave her a fake smile. "Sorry, dear. It's just normal for a person like me not to entertain a trash like you. I just really don't know why my son get to like you. You even got no match with Samantha." She then rolled her eyes.
"I didn't know that a well-known doctor, who is well-educated and a motivational speaker, could speak something like that." Sylvia says. "Tell me, what would you feel if I would say bad things to your son too? Especially when you are just standing right beside him?"
"Madam, I'm sorry but you don't know what kind of a woman she is. She lured my son!"
"How wouldn't I know about my daughter?" Sylvia frowned.
"D-daughter?" Vivien Collins was dumbfounded after hearing that words.
"Stop this drama. We're not here to make fuss about her being my daughter." Sylvia felt bored already. Thinking why this people would ever get shocked about her and Siren's relation. For goodness sake, Siren uses her father's surname and yet no one could ever guess that she belongs to the Mendez family?
"I honestly don't understand why we have to talk about our children's matters here, Madam Mendez." Siren looked at the man beside Mr. Collins. She's guessing that he was Sam's father. "It could only be if you know the person who put them to jail." He says.
"Honestly, yes. I, myself, don't have any intention to put them to jail. But the person next to me wants them to." Sylvia looked beside her.
Siren, whose holding her temper tightly, was looking straight to the man.
All of the eyes looked at Siren's direction. But she seemed unbothered. She even took a glance at Mr. Collins' face.
"You?" He quickly stood up and pointed her. "Is this all your scheme to get back at me? I should've known how freak of an evil person you are!"
Jeff got himself ready to protect Siren. Even Diana prepared herself too.
But the young lady looks so cool. She didn't even moved a bit.
"If I were you, I will put my arm down before they get broken." Siren said. "I'm so done with all your talk-ill's about me. Aren't you ashamed of yourself, Mr. Collins? You even have the guts to say those words in front of me?"
"Hah! Why? You think that I will respect you now just because you are a Mendez? Well, your name won't changed the fact that you are just a slut trying to hooked up with my son!"
"Bastardo!" Sylvia stood up angrily because of what she heard that the man say. "How dare you say those words to her?!"
" Why? Am I not right? Look at her! She's pregnant with my son's child! Do you think that a woman like your daughter should be respected because of that?! Who knows, if how many man had slept with her!" His face becomes red as he say those filthy words.
"Try to repeat those words and it will add another case on your son's side." The lawyer, who was just listening to their awful conversation, come in between.
"What?" Vivien unbelievably looked at the woman, named Atty. Allyson David.
"All of you should calm yourselves down . We are here to talk about this, before we turn this matter to a formal case and take it to the court." Said Atty. Liam Gil.
