Chapter 49 Blame

"On what grounds you want to put my son and my goddaughter in jail?" Asked Mrs. Collins. "Why? Did my son already dumped you? And now you want to get back?"
Siren smirked. "Relax, Mrs. Collins. This is not all about me and your son's thing."
"Murder case and illegal drug use will be filed against your children." Said Atty. Liam Gil.
"M-murder?" Mrs. Hilton's face could actually shows her disbelief.
"Murder? Hah! That is insane!" Mr. Hilton rises on his seat. Just like all of them, Mr. Hilton was trying to make himself look intimidating. He was showing the aura of  someone who can brutally beat a person. Siren could say that he's a tough man.
"My daughter cannot do that! You're just someone who is trying to ruin my daughter's reputation!"
The dramatic act of trying to attack her was carried out by Mrs. Hilton. Thanks to Diana who blocked her way with a deadly glare. She must be a drama queen just like her witch daughter, Sam. Siren thought.
"Who would ever believe that our children could do such thing? Of course, as parents we are not going to believe any rumors about our children's evil-doings, right?" Sylvia leaned on her chair.
"We shouldn't came here at the first place. People here are all stupid! If I just knew it!"
"Watch your word, Former Prosecutor Collins. You might regret it if you wouldn't care to think what's slipping on your tongue." Said Atty. Allyson David. "You're son is at stake in the middle of this. You should be more careful."
"And what are you going to do? Do some under the table jobs? Try! And we will see who's gonna be in trouble." He glared at the female lawyer like he's going to devour her.
"I guess we can't do anything about this matter unless pushing it up to the court very soon." Said Atty. Gil.
"Then see you at the court!" The Collins strode out angrily while the Hilton's remain for a moment.
"Madam Mendez, you are a very well-known person and one of the most respected and influential in the society." Mr. Hilton rose to his feet. Followed by his wife. "But I guess, you sucked being a person behind your daughter's scheme. It's sad to know that as much as you make yourself great in business, you fail to teach your daughter a good behavior." He looked at the woman's eyes as if he was measuring  her whole being.
"Maybe I failed to be a hands-on parent to my child. But I am sure that she's not a murderer and a drug addict like your precious one."
"My daughter is innocent!" His face quickly becomes red with his anger.
"Innocent?" Siren felt sick with the whole dramatic scenery that she just wanted to scratch their faces to reveal their ugly persona's. "Innocent? She killed Harry! Is that how innocent she is?! Don't try to defend that ill-headed shit of yours! She's a murderer! You heard it? She's a murderer!"
Before she knew it, Jeff and her mom was already locking her with their grips. She was crying at this point that she felt like losing herself.
She badly wanted to hurt them. For goodness sake, she wanted to beat them in all the way that she can. If it could only avenged Harry's death.
"I will make sure that your daughter will rot in jail! Keep that in mind!" She shouted on his face.
The guard's that Diana called escorted the couple on their way out.
Sylvia dismissed the two lawyers as they were calming her down.
She was trembling and crying from everything that happens and now she's trying hard to get herself collected again.
------
Diana, who's acting as her personal assistant now drives her home. But halfway of their route, the woman decided to go out of their way.
But Siren was too occupied to even noticed. She just let Diana drive anywhere she wants.
After almost an hour, the car stopped on the road side which overlooks the vast ocean on the other side of the trail. The warm air was blowing hard even it was noon.
"How are you feeling?" She sympathetically asked.
Siren didn't answer. She doesn't know what she really feeling at this point.
"It's okay if you wouldn't tell me. But I know how it hurts inside." She leaned on the backrest. "It’s really hard to lose a friend. Especially if you have made happy memories together.
But I want you to know that your world should not stop there and let you be a slave to the anger you feel now."
The girl remained silent.
"That's just the way human life is. It's not always fun. Something is lost, something is coming. You'll cry, you'll be hurt. But you have to keep going. Experience includes all that." Diana added.
"I'm blaming myself. I can’t help but think that it was because of me why he died. If it weren’t for my stubbornness it wouldn’t end up like this." Siren shed tears while saying those words.
"Don't say that. You didn’t want that to happened and we all know you did everything to save Harry. He doesn’t blame you for what happened."
Siren couldn't say more. She was drowned with guilt and regrets.
"From now on, be a strong person that will fight to bring justice for his death. Collect yourself and teach those bastards their lesson. A'right?" She tapped her shoulder.
After realizing her point, Siren wiped her tears and nods her head.
"Thank you." She said.
"You still have to learn a lot more from this.  Be strong and avoid yourself from crying."
Diana gave Siren a big hug.
After Harry's death, Diana remember how Harry told her how he cares for Siren. And when she saw the lady's vulnerability, she had the urge to protect her.
She's a mad woman with her actions, but yet, she was still a child inside her world. She was caring and loving. Cherishing the people she loves. And she wants to protect that child. She promised to herself she will protect Siren.
Whatever it may cost.
-----------
Mendez mansion
"Do you ever realize how your daughter makes fuss with her silly actions?" Greg was seriously looking on Sylvia's face.
They are both facing the glass wall while watching the bright lanterns outside.
After dinner, Greg asked Sylvia for a talk regarding Siren's whereabouts and also to talk about his intention of asking Sylvia to move out.
"I do. And I understand her." She said.
"And that's fine with you? You are letting her play with fire with Collins and Hilton's and you even gave yourself on her back." He said in disbelief.
"What should I do then? Stand with what's wrong?" Sylvia furrowed her eyebrows.
"Well at least tell your daughter how to behave."
"Behave?" Sylvia faced the man as if she misheard his words. "Do you even know what you were saying right now, Greg?"
"Don't let Siren drag her name in such stupidity, Sylvia. It is what I'm just trying to say."
"Look, I don't understand what is your point in here. Have you asked what really had happened that Siren was forced to asked this way? Or you just want to protect your reputation right now?"
"Why? Aren't you worried too that she may ruined her mother's reputation with her fighting against those well-known people?"
The tingling sensation of wanting to slap his face, Sylvia feels in her hand right now. She didn't know that Greg could actually say those words.
"Really, Greg? Is that how you treat Siren? Is that how you looked at her? A mere dirt on your reputation?"
Greg fell into silence. Did Sylvia hit it right? Is that really how he was towards his daughter?
"Have you ever think about her feeling before saying those words?"
Greg looked away. Shoving his hands on his pockets. He didn't dare to say something as he realized his mistake by saying those.
"I never thought that you still haven't changed after all these years. You are still inconsiderate as before." She shook her head.
"I am not the person to talk about in this case, Sylvia." Looking like his ego was slightly hurt by her facts.
"I know. But hearing those words from you makes me realize it. You haven't only neglected your daughter, but also your duty as a father. Now I get to know how fool I was, leaving my daughter with a father like you."
She turned her back. Leaving him speechless behind.
