Chapter 54 Unfold

Siren let out a deep sigh as the door finally closed. But before she could move from her position, someone suddenly grabbed her arm.
Shock was on her face upon recognizing the person. It's Felix.
"Let's talk." It's not an invitation but a command.
"If you'll only going to convince me to what Dad says, you're wasting your time. I won't be convinced. I won't come back here so there's no reason for us to talk. So will you please let go of me?" She said sternly.
"How can you be so stubborn?" He said with a furrowed brows.
"What do you think you're doing?" She sneered, shrugging his hand holding her arm. "Let go of me!"
"I won't, unless you listen to what I have to say." The man said.
She glared back at him. "Stop putting up a show like you don't mind what Dad said. Come on, Felix. I know how unwelcome I am to you. Why acting like this now?"
"Okay, let's just say that. But shouldn't you listen to your parents? They only care about you that's why they want you to come back here."
"Don't waste any more effort convincing that woman, Felix." They both turned in the direction from which the voice came.
Olivia was the one they looked up to. Her face was expressionless as she looked at her.
With what she heard, Siren couldn't help but smirk. Jeez. This woman never really know how to put dramatic actions in front of her. She's always been showing her true colors with no doubt at all.
"See? Even your own mother doesn't want me to come back here. So why would you waste time convincing me?"
Felix's eyes darkened because of what he said. She harshly wiped his hand that was still holding her arm.
"You're right. I don't want you to come back here. I just don't know why Greg suddenly decided to asked you. When in fact, we're glad you're gone." The woman folded her arms as she spoke.
"Well ... Even if you don't want to, you can't do anything if I want to. It's just that I don't want to be in this house anymore. It's kinda inconvenient for you so I'll be the one to adjust." She gave her an annoying smile.
Olivia's clenched her fist by her answer. But she managed to smile like she didn't hear an insult.
"Well, I'm glad we have mutual feelings with each other. And it's good to hear that you initiated to do the first move to make us both convenient."
Siren let out a faint laugh.
"Stepmother... You're so naive to think that I'm being much good to you to do so. Just enjoy every moment of staying here. You might not have all the time later, so better live happily now."
Siren walked passed her while wearing her annoying smile.
Olivia's face darkened as she remained on standing behind.
"Mom..." Felix looked at his mother face with worry.
"I'll get on you sooner or later, Siren. Just wait for it." She whispered before walking out.
----------
Three days before Siren's birthday, she still don't know what to do. Everything is set, and they are just waiting for her big day.
In the days that followed, however, her father's plea to convince her to return to their home remained intact. He's always reminding her of going home whenever they had the chance to talk.
And since it's been few weeks, her belly has also continued to grow. It get starting to notice. Something she couldn't hide from the seamstress who's in charge for her gown.
One rainy afternoon, Jeff visited her. She was even surprised when Diana said that the man was in the living room looking for her.
Perhaps, she had been so busy the past few days that she could no longer remember the last time they had talked.
"Hi." He greeted her.
"Hi." She also greeted the man with a smile.
She noticed that he looked at her belly which was quite noticeable in her fit house dress.
"How's life?" He asked as he looked away.
Siren shrugged her shoulders. Not really knowing what to say.
"Samantha was convicted yesterday at the second hearing of her case." He informed. He sat down on the couch as he speaks.
"And what about Todd? And the others?" She placed herself at the couch next to him.
"Only three people were convicted in the case you filed in court. Samantha Hilton and the two men who abducted and beat Harry resulting in his death."
"So it means that Todd was freed?" In just a snap, her reaction changed real-quick.
Without a word, Jeff nodded.
"Unfortunately, there is no solid evidence against Todd when we filed the complaint. The only reason why he was put in jail is because he was there when the crime took place. But it's not actually a proof that he was their accomplice."
A moment of silence had passed after Jeff said those words. While in Siren's head, everything became chaotic as she starts to imagine Todd being free around her.
It's not that she was scared that he might hurt her or do something against her. Her worries was all for the baby inside her. She was afraid that he would do anything that could harm her and her baby.
"If you are thinking that he would come to you to do some chaos, you don't have to worry. Diana and I will be here to protect you. After your birthday, maybe we can go to some place away from here so we can be assured about your safety." He patched her head like a kid.
"I'm not afraid of him. I'm just worried now because he might come to me and bother me about the baby."
Jeff sat straight as she said that. He looked away looking like he's thinking about something.
"About the baby..." It was almost a whisper that came from him mouth.
"My baby?" She looked at him confused.
"Well..."
"What?"
"I just want to ask you about your baby." Jeff looked at her straight in the eyes.
"What is it?"
"Are you sure Todd is the father of your child?"
Her forehead furrowed even more because of that question. She met her eyes with a stare. She seems to be measuring where that question came from in his eyes.
"What do you mean?" She asked with eyes full of confusion.
Jeff took something from his pocket and then handed it to him. A flash drive.
"I don't know how to tell you. Better yet, just look at the contents of this flash drive so you'll know what I mean."
He didn't even wait for her to speak. He stood up and said goodbye to her.
She had an odd feeling when Jeff left. She confusedly took a glance on the flash drive that he handed her.
Without much thought, she stood up and walked straight to her room. She immediately plugged it in on her laptop after booting it up.
