When she made sure she had finished washing and putting away the kitchen utensils, she hung her apron on the hook behind the door. It's half past eight and thanks God because after a long explanation, the man left recently from his complain about his missing cellphone. He was forced to face him when he summoned the manager of their small restaurant. It was his audacity that seemed to make sure she had something to do with the loss of its use. Madison sighed. He thought maybe the man was a tourist because he didn't know the ins and outs of Croatia yet. Especially in their area where pickpockets and thieves are left and right. "It's his fault, he's rude." She whispered to herself as the man never left her mind. Now she was not only feeling tired from her work but also annoyed with the man because of his nonsense accusation. After saying goodbye to his co-workers, thet go part ways. She lives just few streets away from the restaurant and times like this she may chooses to ride a cab to at least have a ten minutes rest inside the car. But before she could even held a taxi, someone just pulled her aside without expecting it. It was the same man this afternoon. He's now holding her arm with his left hand. Luckily, she didn't stumble when he pulled her into him. She had kept her balance and didn't bump into his chest. "What the heck!" She angrily pushed him afterwards. "What do you think the hell you're doing?" "I know that you know why I'm here. Give me back my phone before I'll call the cops!" He looked at her like his gonna beat her any moment. "What?" She furrowed her brows. Like seriously? "Are you insane? I already told you I'm not a thief!" "Do you think I would buy that crap? You're the only one who cleans those tables. It's impossible that you didn't saw my stuff." "I swear I did not!" She scoffed. "Oh really?" He narrowed his eyes as if his some kind of a bacteria under his microscope. "Then why did you suddenly ran off after seeing me?" That made her fall into silence. Yeah, right. Of course, her reaction was impulsive earlier when their eyes met. Maybe that's why he thought she was indeed involved in the loss of his phone. She just ran off subconsciously just for reasons she couldn’t explain. he wiped his hand that was holding her arm and then grinned foolishly. "So you're taking it against me? Is it just because I ran that you thought I took your phone? C'mon dude that's a very superficial reason. Another thing you have no evidence aside from you just saw me running off. " "I won't be a petty person dragging you at this very moment if my phone isn't an important thing. So please take it out and we're even." "What? Why would you think I'll rob someone else's phone? For your information, Mister, I can afford to buy any phone I want." "That's it, so you can buy a cellphone. Why do you need to get someone else's cellphone." Madison sighed in disbelief. This Mama seems really serious in accusing him. "You know what, I can't believe that I gotta met a narrow -minded person like you. You're hopeless. If you're really sure I'm the one who took your phone, why don't you go to the police station and report about your missing belongings instead? I just want to tell you, sir, what you're doing now is clearly harassment. And if you don't stop accusing me, harassing me, I can file a case against you." She crossed her arms over her chest and then looked at him from head to toe. "It's a pity that you actually look sane and educated but you don't use your brain." Then she gave him a smug look. Conrad was shocked by what the woman had said. Well at some point, she was right in what she said. After hearing nothing from him for a few seconds, Madison took the opportunity to wave for the cab to pass by them. And even before Conrad could protest, Madison was already in the car. Nothing was done, Conrad's gaze just followed the moving vehicle. "Hah!" He sighed to himself. He realized he hadn’t used his mind in their previous confrontation with the woman. And as embarrassing as it is to admit, the fact that everything she said was true was a slap in the face. He only had assumptions and no solid evidence of his allegations. And in fact, he is the one who can file a case against him for harassing him recently. Conrad heaved a deep sigh before turning his back. He can't imagine how crazy this day was! ----------- Just like the old times, Madison got home in her villa where only Mrs. Carlson and her are living. It's already past nine and yet, all the lights are still on. Maybe her housekeeper is still waiting for her at this hour. She heave a sigh with the thoughts of the guy earlier. He's a real psycho, she thought. Upon hearing the door opens, Mrs. Carlson got out from the kitchen to greet her mistress. "Hi. It's already late, something happen?" She worriedly asked her. "No. I just got into trouble at work." She put her bag down on the carpeted floor and laid her tired self on the sofa. "I cooked some pasta and carrot soup. Would you like me to heat them up?" Madison let out her yawn before looking at Mrs. Carlson's face. "Prepare the soup for me. You can take your rest after that. I'll take care of it after I eat." The woman nods her head before going back to the kitchen. After couple of minutes, the woman already served her food and left. Madison started eating her food but none of her senses were on it. Indeed this was a very long day for her. People were in and out like always and they are still understaffed. With the flow of people going to their store everyday, they probably be needing three more workers to attend kitchen and their costumers. But according to Mr. Novak, the owner of the restaurant, they cannot afford to take more workers other than the four workers who are already working there- including her. And she thought it was an insane excuse he could only say. Another thing in her mind, was the trouble that caused her frenzy earlier. And by that thought, the man's face crossed her mind once again. Just enough to make her face sour. After her heartwarming soup, she got upstairs to her room. Her mind was still busy that she barely felt sleepy after her warm shower. When she looked at the alarm clock on the top of her bedside table, it was already twelve thirty AM. Madison got up, knowing she won't be able to sleep soon. She decided to go out. Unwind and breath a little.
