Chapter 62 TROUBLE

Wearing his casual clothes, a cap and his sunglasses, Jeff came out of the room he was occupying in that hotel. It was three o'clock in the afternoon so he knew the sun was not that hot outside. He had felt hungry earlier but he didn't bother to order from room service because he didn't like the food offered at the hotel restaurant.
He took the elevator while wondering what food he could eat outside.
When he reached the ground floor, as soon as the opening of the elevator where he was, also the opening of another elevator on the opposite side.
Jeff furrowed his brows as he recognized the man exiting the elevator. Although he's not actually facing him, he knew he couldn’t be wrong, it was Conrad Younas.
He got stunned for a moment as the flash of Siren's face crossed his mind.
The same day when he revealed Conrad Younas’ connection to Siren’s pregnancy, was also the same day when the incident of Diana’s death and Siren’s disappearance occurred.
For a moment he wanted to be suspicious of the events, but he knew he couldn't just be suspicious of anyone.
"Excuse me." The voice of an elderly man brought him back to reality. He didn't notice that he was blocking the elevator because of the sudden thought.
He shook his head and then walked out of the hotel. He uses Google map to find some nice food place to eat.
He saw that there were many restaurants he could go to around the corner but most all of them only offered local food.
"Boston's Brew." He checked the store. Seventy-five percent of the store's offerings are coffee, and the rest are concentrated desserts. "Afternoon Delights." And another store. It was a restaurant near the beach and a few meters away from the hotel. They offer different types of sandwiches, smoothies and coffees. "I'd better check this one." He said to himself before walking towards the direction where the said diner was.
--------
Thirty minutes earlier...
After Madison parked the car inside their garage she hurried to head inside the house.
"Good afternoon." Mrs. Carlson greets her.
"Good afternoon." She greeted her back then hurried up to her room.
She stormed in to her room to change her clothes really quick. She had to come to the restaurant today because it was payday and she knew there were a lot of people coming again.
"Don't you like to eat some snacks before you leave?" Mrs. Carlson asked as she saw her hurry down the stairs.
"No, thanks." She answered before leaving the house.
The elderly woman was left watching her leave.
According to Wendy, the police officers left only two minutes before she arrived.
They allegedly checked the active CCTV footages to ensure that the foreigner's complaint about his missing stuff inside the restaurant will not happen again.
"That dumbass." Even though Wendy didn’t say who that costumer was, Madison already knew who the it is.
"Hey, Madison. You are not allowed to serve costumers today. You will be post at the kitchen and Wendy will take care of serving job." Said the restaurant manager.
"What? But why?" He wondered here.
"Because you're the one they thought took the man's cellphone yesterday. Although it's confirmed that it's not really you, it's better to just avoid other people's eyes first. We need to do it to avoid things from happening again."
"That's ridiculous. Why would I be avoiding rumors when I'm not at fault? If you want that to happen, I would turn out to be one who's guilty." She said.
"Just do as I say. You will be doing this for you and for the restaurant."
"No! And why would I hide if I'm not really doing anything wrong? You also said that it was proven that I had nothing to do with the cellphone incident yesterday, then why would I hide in the kitchen all of a sudden?" This is getting into her nerves. Everything seems getting even messier.
"You shouldn't be questioning the management since we are just doing this for the sake of the restaurant. We only need to deal with the issue right now. After this, we will be getting back to normal."
"Jeez! This is really nonsense! Deal with the issue? Crap! He should be the one apologizing now for his imbecility. I can't believe I'll be arguing for my rights right now."
"Well, that's the order. If you are going to still argue with this thing, I'm afraid I would have to fire you." He said with a warning tone.
"What? Fire me? On what grounds?"
"Because your obstructing the rules."
"Hey, uhm..." Wendy, who felt tensed with what's happening, tried to stand in between them. "I think we can talk about this without arguing. Costumers are already paying attention to us..."
"No! I'm not going to do what this old-fat-bully ugly man are saying. If he's going to fire me, be it! I'm a little underpaid anyway. If you're about to fire me, pay me enough money that covers all the wages I should have. Overtimes and health benefits. And oh, those holidays I had worked on too."
"Huh!" Mr. Novak scoffed as what he heard.
"I'm telling you!" She gave him a warning look before deciding to walk out of the restaurant.
But just before she could walked out the door, she bumped into someone's chest.
"Oops..." She angrily looked up at him, recognizing the man as the same dumbass-asshole who was the reason why she just lost her job minutes ago.
She immediately felt intense anger at the man. Causing her to suddenly gave him a forceful knee-attack on his crotch.
It was so unexpected that the man burst out from pain.
"F*cking shit!" He knelt from pain in front of her.
"That's what you got, you imbecile b*stard!" Then she stormed out.
----------
Seeing him writhe in pain, Conrad was immediately attended by the restaurant staff. Their apology to the young man's reddened face could even reached up to heaven.
"I'm really sorry for what that woman did, sir. If you want we can file a complaint against her." said the manager mister novak.
"Mr. Novak what are you saying? Why you will file a complaint against Madison? Are you losing your mind?"
"Stop it! Didn't you see she hurt a restaurant customer? You should just complain to the authorities!"
"After all, Madison wouldn't have hurt him if his assumptions was right. I think what Madison did to her was right." Rod, the restaurant's cashier, said.
Conrad raised one hand to stop them. When his feeling calmed down he then spoke.
"No, it's okay. I actually went here to apologize for what happened yesterday as well as for what I told her. But I think I came at the really wrong time so here's what I got."
