Chapter 63 SETTING THINGS

Madison went home still enraged by what had happened at the restaurant earlier.
She was greeted by the astonished look of Mrs. Carlson but she just ignored her. She immediately went straight to her room and slammed the door shut.
But instead of doing anything to release her anger, she just forced herself to calm down. In fact, she was not angry because she was fired, but because the reason was irrational. She could not have imagined that after more than a year of working there, only a man like that would destroy her credibility and reputation of her work.
"I hate you!" She shouted remembering the man. In her mind, she had wanted to kill him several times.
***
Conrad rolled his eyes inside the bar. He had been going back and forth there for two nights, so the bouncer and the bartender got familiar to him immediately.
"Whiskey?" The bartender asked as he sat on the counter stool.
"I prefer vodka tonight." He replied.
In his mind, he wanted to estimate how much time he would spend in that place until he could see the person who's the main reason for his nightly trip there.
"Are you looking for someone? Or waiting?" The bartender was looking at him.
"Actually, yes." He nodded.
A few moments later, he placed his order in front of him.
"I see. I just noticed that you're always looking around. Scanning every costumers and looking at them carefully."
"I'm just wondering if we'll meet again here." He says.
"Is that a woman?" Curious as he ask.
Conrad smiled at the expression he had. He just nodded in response.
"Oh, I think you'll have a hard time finding that person you're saying. You see that?" He  pointed his finger at the entrance of the bar. "Women are coming in and out of here. They're beautiful and almost uniform. How do you know who's there you're looking for?"
"She's a very different one. So I would know who she is even if she mixes herself with the crowd." He explained.
The man just laughed at what he said. He seemed not too sure to believe but have just agreed with what he said.
After about an hour of waiting, as he had swallowed the fourth shot of alcohol, Conrad was relieved that when he looked again at the entrance of the place, it was exactly the arrival of a familiar figure of a woman.
She's wearing a black top with spaghetti straps and skinny jeans and paired with boots too. She's giving a cowgirl vibe even though she's not wearing a hat.
She didn't seem to notice him because she was just constantly entering the place. Not even looking around.
Conrad didn't take his eyes off the woman until she had sat a few chairs away from him.
"Espresso martini." She asked the bartender.
"Looks like you're coming here a lot now. Aren't you busy?"
"Not anymore. I don't have a job now."  The woman answered.
Conrad frowned when he heard the two talking. It is obvious that they have known each other for a long time.
"Did you leave the restaurant?" The man asked crookedly as he placed the glass in front of the woman.
"Yes. An idiot guy left his phone in the restaurant. Maybe someone got interested in taking it so when the owner came back it was no longer on the table where he ate." Explanation of the woman.
"What does that have to do with you leaving work?"
"I was the one who was accused because I was the one in-charge of clearing the clutter after the costumers ate. What's worse, even though it's proven that I really had nothing to do with the stealing of that idiot's belonging, the management doesn't want me to serve the costumers anymore." Her voice was obviously sounds so annoyed.
Conrad almost choked by his own saliva because of what he heard. He didn't expect that he would bring such a big mess to the woman's life. What he thought was a simple mistake that he was going to apologize for today was not really a simple thing.
Extreme shame and guilt enveloped his chest because of that realization. He thought it was not enough to apologize for the mistake he had made.
He thought it was not good now for him to  apologized to the woman. Maybe it's better to talk to her outside so that they could have a better chance of talking properly.
After dropping some paper bills he got up and walked out of the bar. Praying in his mind that the woman did not notice him completely.
He decided to just wait for her outside. Yes, he was willing to wait even until morning. He didn't want his vacation to end without even making things straight with her. He may lose the opportunity.
***
After a few hours of hanging out and talking to Russell she decided to go home. It's already two in the morning and her classes will start at nine o'clock.
Because she really intended to drink, she did not drive her car. Another is that she already knows that her housekeeper Mrs. Carlson may notice her constant sneaking out. And she knew she was just taking time and soon, she would tell Arthur too. Knowing that Mrs. Carlson's loyalty still belongs to Arthur. So she knew she had to be careful.
The air was cold at dawn so she knew she it will going to be a cold trip to her home.
She was already walking along the side of the road while periodically looking around to see if there was an empty taxi that she can ride for her to get home.
She combed her shoulder-length hair as she took a slow step. When she reached the end of the road, she stood on the edge of the pole.
"Holy shit!" She exclaimed. That's how shocked she was when someone suddenly put a jacket on her shoulder.
Madison immediately turned to the man and her heart turn into a chaotic beat as she recognize who was behind her.
For a few seconds she just stared at the man.
"You shouldn't be wearing thin and vulgar clothes like this. Especially at this time of the night and in this kind of place." He says that brings back her spirit.
She answered with a deadly look before removing the jacket from her shoulder and then returning it to the man.
"I don't think you should care of what kind of clothes I must wear." She said angrily.
Without a word the man just shook his head before putting the jacket back on her shoulder.
"Sure. But it's appropriate for a man like me to tell you if it's for your own good too. Just so you know, it's like you're inviting men."
Madison frowned at what the man had said. No wonder she bent down to look at herself. Then she looked at the man's face again.
"You know, I don't know which cave you came from to think like that. Like hello? It's the 21st century and clothes like this are normal." Still annoyed, she says. "Or maybe you think like that because you're like that yourself?"
The man laughed because of what she said. She seems to be hear something that gives amusement to him.
"I'm sorry to tell you but I have no interest with you."
She just utter  'tss' at what the man said.
"What's the matter with you that you still followed me here? As far as I know, I've proven nothing to do with what you're accusing me of, so why are you here again?" She said calmly. “Just to let you know, because of what you did, I lost my job. You just ruined my clean record because of your stupidity. And if you're thinking about apologizing to me today, sorry. Because even if you crawl, begging me to forgive you there, I won’t forgive you!" She sighed before turning her back on him.
She felt that she had lost the weak effect of the alcohol she had drank earlier after getting annoyed with the man.
