“Here, here, here you go.” I pushed him to the kitchen. “Just sit here, dearest husband. What do you want me to cook?” He looked at me suspiciously. “Don't worry! I won't poison you. Your life is as important as mine, so how could I murder you? Hmm? Besides, I don't like to spend my precious life in jail.” He crossed his arms over his chest. “Oh?” “Swear. Cross my heart.” “Alright. Cook anything. I'm not a picky eater.” “Ok! Good. Wait for me.” We're here at his house. Where else could we go aside to his? It's not as if I have a house to shelter him. For now, I'm just a normal girl who has to rely on him. Yeah. I don't want to accept the fact that I'm depending on someone, but I have to. After cooking, I served him the food. “What—? Is this all you've got? Noodles?” “Hey, this is not just noodles! This is better than nothing! Here, have some.” He shook his head. I'm disbelief. “I've expected too much from you. How can you survive alone if all you know is to cook just this... noodles?” “I can cook eggs, and rice of course. You?” I slurped my noodles. “I can cook any food that comes into your mind.” “Oh, really?” Does he have any flaws? How could he be so perfect?! His phone rung. He answered it. I couldn't hear what the caller is saying, so I went closer and stick my ear on his phone. “...done. It's all prepared.” That's what I've heard from the caller before Zayden hung up the call. What is that? He pushed my head. “Eavesdropping is not good.” “Ohh, I know. But, you're my husband—” “Someone out there said that we should not interfere each other's private life. Do you know who said that?” I laughed. “Don't take that seriously. Of course, we're now a couple. So, we should, you know, exchange this and that. Let's share each other's secrets and problems. How's that, Mister Constello?” He raised his eyebrow. “So, who's that?” Was that about Caileigh? “You're acting like a real wife now, you know that? Are you interrogating me?” Ha! What real wife are you saying? “Oh. Fine! It's fine if you don't want to tell me.” But I really want to know who that caller was and what they talked! He just stared at me as I drink my water. “Can't you tell me who's that? Curiosity is killing me. Really.” “Follow me then,” he said. “Where?? Wait! Don't walk too fast!” I followed him outside. “Where are we going? I thought you're not in the mood to travel?” “Get in.” I opened the door at the backseat. “Do I look like your driver? Sit here in front!” “O-Oh. Gosh, you don't need to shout. You startled me. I just opened the wrong door.” I opened the door on the passenger's seat. “Buckle your seatbelt.” He started the engine and drove to somewhere. “Check your brake if it's working.” Trauma got me good. “It is. Why? Are you planning something?” “What plan? It's for our safety, okay? Who wants to die with you anyway?” “But you could die for Zerro, is that it?” “Why are you bringing that out? Can you stop mentioning someone else's name? Zerro and I... uhm... were done.” Are they really done? What happened between them that night? How did the fight end? “If you have a grudge against him, let it go. Gosh, you are brothers, why are you stabbing each other's back?” Duh, Calais. Duh. As if you are not being betrayed by your own sister. “Ah. Nevermind. My advice is not applicable. Just have your revenge until your grudge disappears.” “Are you talking for yourself? Seems like you're the one who needs that advice.” “It's for you, not me.” It's for the both of us. I stared at him for a minute, then focused my eyes outside. “Can you open the window?” He pressed some button. Ah, France. Such a nice place, but left me with a tragic event. I closed my eyes as I savor the fresh air. My journey here in this place is and will be my most unforgettable one. ---------- CAILEIGH'S POV “Ma'am. Your meeting with President Constello has been cancelled. His secretary told me that if you want the business proposal to be done, meet him in France,” Elle, my assistant told me. France, again. Calais is not alive, is she? I've gone this far, I won't let anyone to destroy my plans. Ruscitti Enterprise is mine. Mine alone. “Ma'am? It would be a big loss for us if President Constello—” “Then buy me a ticket. I'll fly to France tomorrow morning.” I came here in Switzerland for the auction of the 97-hectare land, unfortunately, President Constello sent a representative so they got the land. “But ma'am. About your sister—” “Didn't I tell you not to mention her anymore? You want to get fired?” “Sorry, ma'am. However, you have to know that Miss Calais' body is nowhere to be found.” “What?! Why are you saying that to me now?! Are you saying that she's not yet dead?!” This can't be. “I saw it with my own eyes. She fell into that deep forest, ma'am. I don't know what happened, but when I sent our men to dispose her body the day after that accident, they said that the body is not there anymore. Even her car. We wanted to confirm this issue before telling you, but now that you are going back to France—” “Why didn't you make sure that she's dead before leaving?! You're all useless! Is there someone who saw you? Why didn't you dispose her body that night?!” “There was another person who got involved in the accident, ma'am. But I didn't get the chance to know who that was because the rescue team came.” “Find out who that person is.” “We already did, ma'am. We thought that could give us some lead with your sister's whereabouts; however, that person seems to be from an influenced family. They're blocking the investigation about the accident, so we couldn't investigate further.” I slapped her. “How could you not do your work properly?! She bows her head. “Sorry, ma'am.” “Get me the earliest flight tomorrow.” Calais Ruscitti, you are indeed my sister. Too bad, only one of us will be able to survive until the end, and I will make sure that I, Caileigh, will be the one who'll survive. “Seems like I must finish the work myself.”
