Megan and Zerro turned their head to me when I opened the door. They're facing each other while having a cup of tea. “Zai!” Megan approached me. “Zainea, geez? Are you that excited to see Zerro? Can't you hide your emotion? Your husband is still here,” she said while hugging me. “Wrong. Who's excited? This is Calais, girl. And I only pulled the door in hurry.” “Oh. Really? By the way, Doctor Reyes just came back. He's checking your situation upstairs.” Zayden entered. “Oh! What a surprise! Constello brothers visited my humble abode at the same time. What is this? Am I going to die, now that I'm given the privilege to be visited by the both of you?” “Nice acting, Megs. Did Zerro tell why is he here?” Megan shrugged her shoulders. “Ask him.” I went to see Zerro sitting. “Why... Why are you here?” How can I avoid this man when he always appears anywhere I'm not expecting him to go? “I just want to see you.” Zayden let out a fake cough. “Why do you want to see me? Why here?” “Why not here? You want to meet him in private?” Zayden interrupted. Zainea wants that. “And you, stop that thought you have right now. The relationship you had with Zainea was all from the past. I'm now her present and future. Quit visiting and meeting her.” Can't they have a normal talk?! Every time they see each other, they're either verbally or physically hurting themselves! Megan let out a fake laugh. “Guys, are you here to argue? Seriously? Is my house a battle ground?” “Tch.” Zerro scoffed. “I'm actually here to show you this.” He took out an envelope. I opened it. Pictures of Zainea's stepmom and a USB Flash drive. “I got that from the security office at your house. I was investigating what happened to you that night when I came across this. The security man was threatened by Mrs. Amadeo to delete all the taken videos that day. He deleted them, but managed to save a duplicate of what your mother did.” “Megs, do you have your laptop?” “Wait. I'll go get it.” “The security is guilty. He said he's willing to be a witness against your mother.” The video contains what Zainea's mother did. She sneakily opened Zainea's car and did something inside. The camera didn't catch what exactly happened inside the car, but that is enough to say that she has something to do with Zainea's accident. Night came, Zainea entered into her car and drive away. That's the time she got into an accident. “But why did the forensics office tell that other than Zainea's DNA, they found nothing? This video clearly shows that Zainea's evil stepmother touched something inside,” Megan shockingly said. “Don't tell me they were bribed?!” I nearly forgot those two evil women. They knew what happened to Zainea. Gosh, wait. Do they know that I was involved in that accident, too? This will be a problem to Zainea if they do. “We don't know what plan your mother has. It's up to you if you'll sue her, Zainea.” I said to myself that I won't let her out until this is done, but seems like I don't have a say in everything. Zainea has a problem she should solve, too. I can't be that selfish. I just can't. “I'll file a suit against her.” “I'll find you the best lawyer—” “You can have my lawyer,” Zayden cuts him off. They glared at each other. Megan's watch suddenly beeped rapidly. She cursed. She went pale. “C-Cal... something's wrong w-with you—” I did not think twice and run towards the room upstairs. I saw Doctor Reyes holding a defibrillator while trying to revive my body. All of a sudden, my mind went blank. I can't do anything while watching myself losing her life. No, please. Please, not now. Please. What's happening? I thought my finger moved?! Megan stood beside me and held my hand, trying to comfort me. Doctor Reyes didn't stop until the straight line on the monitor started to change. He looked at us. “Don't worry. She's fighting. She'll be fine.” “Thank you. I don't know what will happen to her if you didn't arrive in time.” “Maybe that's what God wants. He wants me to help this lady here. Then, I won't keep you. I still need to contact my professor for more information about the condition of this young lady. Just call me if something happens.” He left. “Who is she?” I let out a deep sigh. “Maybe he has the right to know,” Megan said. But I promised to myself not to tell a single word to Zerro. If I tell him, will he understand? Will he let me use Zainea's body for my thing? “Zainea?” Zerro asked me. I can't involve another person in this mess. I don't know what Caileigh is planning. She managed to hurt me, she can do that to others. If she knows that these three people here know what really happened to me, she'll eliminate them. She doesn't want others to know her dirty little secret. On the other thought, Zerro should know. Maybe he could understand this situation I'm into, and stop making things difficult for me. I can be who I am, and stop pretending to be Zainea who is in love with him. “I-I have something to confess.” Perhaps, after telling him the truth, he and Zayden could stop fighting over Zainea's love for a while and help me instead. This is the last time I'm going to share this. “Is this a joke?” You really are brothers. After telling all those, you'll just ask if it was a joke? Did I just waste two hours in explaining? I told him everything, from the accident until yesterday's situation. “Gosh. Megan, help. I really hate explaining things over and over again.” “Everything she said is true,” Megan simply said. I waited for the next words she'll say, but she said nothing. “Stop messing around. Is that even real? Two souls living in one body?” “I think my brain's going to burst. I didn't know explaining could be this hard. I thought it will be easy for a smart person to understand this. It doesn't look like it. Dumb persons are better,” Megan said in a low voice. “I'm out of here.” How could she leave me here with these two hot-headed brothers? “Do you see your beloved Zainea in me? Set aside this face. Look me in the eyes, and tell me if you see her in me.” “Those eyes, again.” He looked away. “I hate the way you look at me with those eyes. It's empty.” “Do you believe me now?” “The truth is right in front of your eyes, stupid. She's Calais Ruscitti, not Zainea. If you don't believe what you heard and saw, just get lost. You're wasting her time. Let's go, woman.” Zayden went outside. “I am telling you the truth. I swear to God. You can curse me if you think I'm lying and deceiving you.” “This is hard for me to believe. If this is really happening, l-let me talk to Zainea. Let me see her.” I stared at him. Hesitating if I should do his request or not. “Just let me talk to her, that would be enough. I won't take her away.” “Okay.” I was about to bite my finger when he stopped me. “What are you doing?!” he shouted. “This is the key for the soul-switching. I must see a fresh blood for her to take over.” “God. Can you not hurt her?” He bites his finger. “Now, let me see the woman I love.” ---------- ZAINEA'S POV Zerro is silently staring at me. “Y-You know?” “What? That her soul is inside your body?” He pinpoints Calais. “You're not deceiving me, are you?” I held his hands. “No, I'm not. I led Calais in that situation, so I want to help her. I'm sorry I didn't tell you about it. I just don't want to burden you.” “No. No, don't say that. Don't think that way. I'm always here, Zainea, willing to shoulder your problems.” He smiled as if he was convinced with something. “This touch, I know it's you. I can't believe this is all true.” He intertwined our hands. “Can you promise me one thing, Zerro?” “That's right. That look in your eyes. You really are my Zainea.” He caressed my face. “I am and will always be.” “Good to know that. Now, what should I promise you?” “Help Calais on everything. Help her reach her goal and go back to her own body. I want her to survive, Zerro, because if she can't, I'll be guilty my whole life. I won't be happy.” “I will. I will, baby. Don't blame yourself. It's not your fault, it's you—” He stopped when he realized that he shouldn't say the next words. He cleared his throat. “Promise me one thing, too.” Is he hiding something from me? No, I know it's for my best. Everything he's doing is for my sake. I shouldn't doubt him. “What is it?” “After all of these, let's leave.” “L-Leave? But... But how about your concerns? Your real identity? Your biological parents? You don't want to meet them? What happened to Felicity? Is she still chasing you?” I am not hesitating to leave with him. I am just worried about him. Is it really okay to leave everything behind? Is it okay to him not to know his background? “Shh. I can handle all those. Felicity left the country. She broke our engagement. About my identity, you don't have to worry about that. Someone is helping me. I have a strong backup, no one can hurt me.” “W-Who?” “Just someone.” He pinched my nose. “I missed you.” “Me, too.” “But I guess, for now, you have to have a long rest. Leave everything to me. I'll help Calais and get you back.” That's the last thing he said as I fall into his arms.
