CHAPTER 28: Bound by Scrolls: A Journey of Love and Freedom

One evening, Marianne was just sitting on a chair with Asherton, enjoying the silence with him. Suddenly, Marianne felt something in her back that made her fall from the chair. "Hey, are you alright?" Asherton asked as he approached Marianne. Marianne then rolled aside, and Asherton saw an image forming on her back. "Wait, don't move!" Asherton shouted. Marianne stopped moving, even though it hurt a lot. "What is it?!" she shouted. Asherton stared at the image until it was fully formed and saw a butterfly image on her back. "The butterfly effect..." Asherton whispered. "What?" Marianne asked. Asherton looked at Marianne and smiled.
"The butterfly image! It finally showed up!" he shouted joyously. "What does it mean?" Marianne asked. "It means we are able to reclaim our village and break the curse!" Asherton shouted. "Finally!" he shouted again. "Does it still hurt?" Asherton asked. "No, not anymore," Marianne said. Asherton then stood up and offered Marianne a hand. Marianne accepted Asherton's help and stood up. "Let's go now and break the curse!" Asherton shouted.
"Wait, right now?" Marianne asked. Asherton looked at her. "Yeah, what are we waiting for?" he asked. "Oh, okay," Marianne responded with a smile. Asherton then summoned his majestic eagle and mounted it. "Come on now," Asherton said. Marianne gazed at the castle, then back at Asherton, letting out a sigh before joining him on the eagle. "Alright," Marianne whispered. They then embarked on the eagle's back and soared away, flying far into the distance.
"Marianne, guess what?" Vale whispered at the door after knocking on it. He thought Marianne was still inside the balcony where he last saw her enter. When nobody answered, he opened the door and discovered that Marianne was not there. When a maid servant passed by, Vale asked if they had seen Marianne, but they replied, "I apologize, Your Majesty, but I did not see her." Every maid servant who passed by gave the same response whenever Vale inquired about Marianne's whereabouts.
And so, Vale commanded all the guards to search for Marianne. An hour passed, but they still couldn't find her. This caused great concern throughout the kingdom, as the princess had once again disappeared. Suddenly, in the midst of the chaos, a guard approached Vale and knelt down. "Your Majesty, King Alexander and Prince Ace have arrived." After the guard spoke, Alexander and Ace entered, accompanied by a multitude of guards.
Vale approached and greeted Alexander with an awkward smile. He whispered to Alexander, "We cannot proceed with the plan we were about to initiate." "Why not?" Alexander asked. "It's because Marianne is missing again," Vale whispered. "What?!" Alexander exclaimed. Alexander let out a deep sigh and called for a guard to assist Vale's guard in finding the princess. Ace overheard this and felt saddened, as he believed that Marianne did not share the same feelings for him. Alexander and Vale had planned to arrange a date for Marianne and Ace to strengthen their bond. However, their plan failed as Marianne walked away once again.
While Alexander and Vale argued about the failed plan, Ace stood on the side and closed his eyes. He attempted to use his powers to gain insight into Marianne's perspective. Being able to see what Marianne was seeing, he believed it would serve as a valuable guide for him to follow her. When Ace finally discovered where Marianne was heading, he approached his father and said, "I know where she is," before walking away. Outside, Ace mounted his horse and swiftly rode away from the kingdom. As Ace disappeared into the distance, Alexander turned to Vale and scoffed, "So...? Have you come up with a name for our grandchild?" Alexander asked.
"You have the audacity to ask me that in this situation?" Vale retorted. "Yeah, I was thinking, what about naming them Alexale?" Alexander suggested with a smile. "Alexale?" Vale questioned. "Yeah, combining Alex and Vale, right? It's a nice name for our grandchild," Alexander responded. "Stop it, to be honest, it doesn't sound good," Vale said. "Hmm, what about Valex?" Alexander suggested. "Pfftt, Valex?" Vale replied. "Your name ideas don't sound very appealing. I bet the child will agree," Vale responded. "I think it sounds good. We just have different tastes," Alexander replied.
On the other side, Asherton and Marianne finally arrived at the snowy and cold mountain. Asherton kindly offered Marianne his coat to help her combat the cold. "Come inside, and let's break the scroll," Asherton whispered. Marianne took a step forward, glancing back at Asherton, who gave her a warm smile filled with hope in his eyes. Returning the smile, Marianne proceeded to enter the gate. However, as she approached, she was unexpectedly pushed back.
Asherton quickly rushed towards Marianne, concern evident in his voice. "What happened?!" Asherton asked urgently. "I don't know," Marianne whispered. Asherton reached for his book and began searching for answers to understand what was happening. Asherton suddenly had a realization. "Wait... you mentioned that you were about to get married, right?" Asherton asked, his voice filled with concern. "Yes," Marianne replied. "Is... is the marriage tied to the power of the scroll?" Asherton asked, his breath becoming heavier. Marianne looked at Asherton and nodded softly.
Asherton blinked twice upon hearing Marianne's response. "You don't love the person you were about to marry, am I right?" Asherton asked, his voice filled with emotion. "I don't know," Marianne responded honestly. Asherton, unaware of his tears, continued to fall down his cheeks. "Why are you crying?" Marianne asked, concerned. "You... you need to love him, Marianne," Asherton responded, his voice filled with earnestness. "Why?" Marianne asked, puzzled. "If you are bound by the power of the scroll, you must break free from its influence in order to enter the gate," Asherton explained. "What do you mean, father?" Marianne inquired. "You cannot enter the gate if you are forced to marry him. You must marry him out of your own free will, with love," Asherton responded, emphasizing the importance of genuine feelings in their union.
