"Oh, wait Jesse! Mama's just making milk!" I screamed in surprise.
"Mommy!" said my daughter Jesse again.
I quickly brewed some milk before running back to my room with Jesse. It's hard to raise a child especially if you're alone. No one looks when you're doing something, no one cares when you're tired and then cry again. Especially when I'm sleepy and suddenly cry, I can't do anything but stand up and hold Jesse. It's hard but I'm happy because I'm with my son. Also, when Jesse gets stuck or freezes for a while, she is fine again. Sleeping soundly again, there is only a chance that he will be really restless.
When I nursed Jesse and she fell asleep again, I went out again. I put him in the crib, he knows how to stand up by himself and take steps. Jesse is different from other children because she doesn't play much, she prefers to sleep and rest at her young age. It also learns things quickly.
I returned to our garden again. I grow sweet potatoes and tapioca. I also have many other plants such as eggplant, peachy, beans, onions, tomatoes, garlic, ginger, carrots, squash, rice, and trees such as mango, banana, and walnut. It's good that we have a lot of vegetables so that we have something to eat. I will grow our garden even more until my garden is more prosperous.
Robert gave me a bunch of CDs and books that I could use to learn about planting. I prefer to plant because besides being fun for me, we can also eat it. I don't want to use up the food stocks that Robert gave me. We always better have a reserve.
The system Jesse and I had was that we were locked up on the island. We don't go out of the island itself and we are here in the middle part. There is a lake near here so I catch fish there. There are also chickens here and wild boars roaming about.
Jesse and I have a nice house, it's made of glass but the pillars of the house are tinted, and the interior part of the house is made of wood. It was like we were at Sandy's house in the Spongebob Squarepants show. In the back, here is where I am the garden. We also have a basement where we store food and other supplies that can be used and we have lived here for 15 years.
I feel it's all worth it. I don't have any news from the outside but Jesse and I are safe and out of harm's way. Then I know it's really hard to raise a child. Everything will be easier as Jesse grows up. The two of us will work together here at home.
(After 6 years...)
"Happy birthday, Jesse! Oh, my baby girl is so big! She's a big girl, she's seven! I'm sorry and that's all mommy can handle. Did you like your cake? Is that alright? Happy birthday again my daughter !" I said happily and hugged Jesse.
"Thank you, mom! It's beautiful! Now I can eat cake again! There's also pancit and soup, thank you, Mom! I'm so happy because you also gave me a crocheted sweater!" Jesse said happily.
"Anything for you, Jesse. As long as Mom can give it to you, just go! Later, let's take care of Old Man Orange again, okay? Let's bathe him again! Support you with your pets!" I said happily to Jesse.
"Thank you, mom! You really are the best!" he said happily and hugged me.
In the seven years that Jesse and I have been here, not everything has been easy. My daughter is afraid of lightning, so when it rains or storms, we hide in the room and cover-up, but this will disappear when he grows up. We have two rooms each but we share. We are both happier every time we are next to each other at night. I always read her books with children's stories. Robert gave it, the house was very full when we arrived. That was the last time we met in the past seven years.
"Mama, let's take a picture, quick! I'll draw it again later!" Jesse grabbed my attention.
At Jesse’s young age, she is already advanced. He can read, write, and even draw like a professional. My son is very smart, he is advanced. I think the explosion had a different effect on him. But until now I still haven't studied it. Just now it came back to my mind for the past few years. Looks like I should dig it up and get started.
(Another 10 years after...)
My daughter Jesse is seventeen years old. A young woman, very beautiful. I am old and sick. I'm glad I made it to Jesse’s seventeenth year. I hope I can make it to his upcoming eighteenth birthday.
"Mama, I have bathed Grandfather Green! Blackie is bathed and smells good! Shall I harvest vegetables?" Jesse shouted questioningly.
I was here on the bench of our house looking at him. My Jesse is beautiful, she really looks like her father. It's also tall and has really smooth skin. Because we don't go out and are always here inside. Even when exposed to the ground, my daughter’s skin is really like bathing in milk.
"At least those eggplants and mangoes first because they can be harvested. I'll help you later with the rice because there's a lot of it. Don't get too tired, oh. You really are," I laughed and scolded Jesse.
Because our garden is big, it fits all our crops separately. Jesse looks like a fairy while harvesting. You thought the crops were being blessed.
Jesse is a beautiful child, absolutely beautiful to the core. She could even be mistaken for a model. It's just that when he came outside, he didn't have a barcode. We can't hide here forever either. I can't deny Jesse the life outside either. He didn't even experience communicating with other people or playing in his youth. He could only watch it on CDs given by Robert or read it in the book. Jesse is easy to learn and she only studies by herself. He doesn't need my help anymore.
Also, Jesse is really greedy. She has waist-length brown hair, a pair of hazel eyes, fair and smooth skin, red lips, a beautiful and defined jaw like a model, and a good body shape. I can say that he got most of it from Robert but the body, I won't deny that he inherited it from me. I'm super sexy even though my physical beauty isn't perfect anymore, plus half of me is burned. But Jesse, always reminds me that I'm very beautiful. Hey, it's really that boy.
I decided to cook a snack for the two of us so I left Jesse first. There will be a storm later because I can see the cloudy sky. Even though the typhoon is still a super typhoon, we are protected here inside Jesse. It's sturdy and designed by Robert himself. The soil here is already fertile so we don't have any difficulty when it comes to crops.
I decided to cook a champurrado. We also have a seed crop that can be made into a table. I watched it on CDs given by Robert. Most of the CDs are from the ancient Philippines. They are still alive today because the technology was already good. It's just more enhanced now and stronger.
I've prepared what I'm going to cook and I've cooked the rice first. After I got ready, I felt someone cover my eyes. I laughed and removed Jesse’s hands from my eyes. Oh my, this is really my son.
"Mom, I have a surprise for you. Happy Mother's day!" Jesse greeted me happily.
I was in tears because he still remembered, he counted the days because we have a calendar. When he was young I always marked and remembered the calendar until we found the table clock in the basement with automatic time and date. This kid is really funny.
"Thank you, child, my flower is beautiful. I love you, child. You have grown up to be a very good child," I cried to Jesse and hugged her.
"It's okay, mom. After all, you raised me, that's why I'm a really kind and beautiful man! I'm going to take a bath first, just put the flowers in the flower race. Wait for the snack and then it's over here I am!" Jesse said goodbye and ran away.
I just followed Jesse running until she disappeared from my sight. I took our flower race and replaced the flower with the one that Jesse took. He actually made the surrounding banana leaves look like a mat to look like a bouquet. Jesse’s creativity level is really high.
Jesse’s brain is really different, based on what I've studied. I finally discovered a week ago why Jesse didn't have Melos Syndrome and each of her traits became more perfect than the others. Jesse’s talent is also a different class and monster, her talent in painting, even the very fast healing of her wounds. Jesse’s immune system is also different from mine.
Jesse was only eight years old when she got her period and began to develop breasts. So now Jesse’s chest is big and it's almost Cup C. Every part of Jesse’s body is also perfect as if it was meant to be shaped like that. I don't even know if The Perfect Children who were born at the same time as Jesse are like this. It's Carolina, how's it going? I really pray that Chan can save his son.
When I fixed the flower in the race, my mind returned to the present so I focused again on what I was cooking. After a while, Jesse finished taking a bath together with the champorado I cooked.
"Let's eat, Jesse. You're a young woman now. It's like before you always chase me when I'm chopping wood," I said laughing.
"Mom, you reminded me of that. I'm so beautiful, it's yours and Dad's. What does dad look like now? When can we get out of the island? I want to also see the outside and everything," Jesse asked smiling.
I tried to smile and didn't answer right away. Until now Jesse doesn't know what's going on outside because I know it's a curious time, she can get mad at me and run away. I can't bet on his safety.
I'm not denying Jesse the truth, I'm just afraid of what could happen. I'm always thinking about my son and what's best for him.
My life will not be long anymore, I feel that I have a certain destiny. Maybe when Jesse reaches her 18th birthday I will tell her everything. Even if I didn't make it to his birthday, I would have written everything he should know, even the results of my studies.
I'm not sure what my pain is but my legs are slowly losing their use. I can't stand to walk because my left foot is black. I don't know if it is due to diabetes or some other disease. But even so, I'm still happy to be useful to Jesse.
"Near son, don't worry. Let's eat first," I said with a smile.
Jesse and I have already eaten. He took another table from our bag and ate. I gasped when he cut his finger. It healed quickly within a minute. It looks like only blood is left.
"Be careful, my child. You might end up cutting your whole finger," I warned Jesse.
"I'm fine, mom. He's healing fast. Don't worry because it's only small," Jesse said with a smile.
"Regardless, Jesse. I don't want you to get hurt or hurt yourself. You know physical pain, don't you?" I will ask.
"Yes, mom. I'm sorry," Jesse apologized before we continued to eat.
Jesse learns things quickly. But because she is smart, Jesse is also observant. He also had a lot of questions that sometimes I couldn't answer. He respects what I say and that he will know the answer when the days come.
It's just like he's weird. Jesse watches old CDs so she doesn't know the situation outside. I fear that he will become aware of the world's greed and hatred.
