Chapter 36: Home

Samantha pulled herself out of the distractions of anxious thoughts in her mind. The wave of the sensation of calmness reached through the inside of her lungs when she stared at the open window. With her outstretched arms, she reached for the drapes and closed it.
It was raining… The downpour was one of her favorite view to see.
Samantha moved her head. She turned over to see the person who is already sleeping soundly. She smiled as she stared at him. They both did exert some energy. She let her eyes scanned the room. She wanted to snap some photos of the space. Samantha looked eager. The look of interest were on her face. She loved what’s happening…
Samantha was enthused…
She took another looked towards the sleeping figure on the bed.
“He was really in his deep sleep.” She whispered. Her smile was warm for him.
Flashback:
“He looked pale and smooth.” The young Samantha smiled sheepishly as she showed a photo of a young man in the magazine. She stared at what she wrote. It was a fine calligraphy. She stared at Winny who was looking at her. The other girl was confused.
“The attributes… Winny?” Samantha talked in a small and soft voice.
Winny only nodded her head at her. “I don’t know, Sam. I don’t really like his look. He doesn’t even look that handsome.” She stopped and tried to think. She stared at Sam again after she stared at the blank wall behind Samantha. “I think, I think he drinks blood.”
“You mean like a vampire?” Samantha’s voice raised as she questioned Winny. The latter nodded her head. She then agreed. “I think, I like his look.” She added.
“Well, hello girls!” A soothing voice came in the background.
Samantha stared and she automatically flashed a smile as she stared at her own mother who just entered the room. She was carrying a tray with cookies and two glasses of milk.
“What are you darlings doing?” Her mother asked. Her mother walked towards them. She was careful to put the tray on the table. She sat beside Samantha.
She gently tread Samantha’s hair. Brushing the strands off lightly with her own fingers. She was looking down, staring at her daughter. A loving and gentle expression, she had. “What is it my child?” She asked her.
Samantha’s hand started to move. Her fingers reach for the magazine she placed down. She reached for it and turned to the previous page she was staring at. “I like him, Mom.” She pointed.
Her mother chuckled. Her hands then went to the edge of the page. Letting her forefingers rest on top of it. Samantha then stared at her. Her mother had soft gaze. She always looked gentle. Her mother was beautiful. Samantha associates her beauty with elegance. For Samantha, her mother was like a goddess.
“But you are still quite young for that, my dear.” Her mother uttered, caressing her cheek.
Samantha shook her head. “I wanted to find him, Mom. I wanted to have a person to love, Mom.” She answered her.
Her mother smiled at her answer. “Then promise me to find someone you really, really love.”
She smiled sadly after recalling a memory of her mother but then her eyes went towards Gregory. “Does this mean?” A question came in her mind. She then shook her head lightly. She then went towards the door and slightly turned the knob with her hand and got out…
She head towards the living room and saw Aunt Nina on the kitchen side. The woman looked happy as she placed a pot on the table. Samantha walked towards her.
“Do you need help?” She offered.
The woman stared at her. She smiled. Aunt Nina glides forward. “Can you arrange the napkins my dear?” She asked. She then smiled when Samantha agreed.
“The rose smelt sweeter. I smelled its strong fragrance in the living room.” Samantha said.
The woman seemed to like what she said that her smile widened. “I’m glad you like them.” She answered.
Samantha’s eyes went towards the pot. Her nose seemed to placed its attention into smelling the smoke from it. The woman in a demure manner smiled again.
“I hope you will like the soup.” She uttered.
“Cassidy said you’re a good cook. I think I will like it, Aunt Nina.” She answered.
The woman smiled. Samantha helped her. She was placing the utensils on the plate. She looked relieve. After she was finished in helping Aunt Nina prepare in the dining table, Samantha excused herself and paced herself back towards their room where Gregory was asleep.
She slowly entered her way through the door, sliding it open. She walked inside. She walked towards him. Gregory fell was still sleeping. She carefully sat beside an empty space where he laying down. Samantha then run her fingers over the sheet. She stared at his face. He was at peace while he was sleeping.
She was literally just plainly staring at him. Watching him. Her fingers started to move. She slowly reached on to Gregory’s hair. She brushed a few strands. Before she then had the urge to touch his cheek. She was hesitating to touched it. So Samantha didn’t let it rest on his skin. Gregory stirred and suddenly his eyes were now open.
“Sam.” He uttered her name softly.
Samantha then let her fingers caress his cheek. “Dinner’s ready, Greg.” She replied.
Gregory moved and immediately let himself out of the sleeping position. He sat. He then got a hold of her hand and placed it back on his cheek. “I wanted to sleep more.” He told her.
Samantha softly chuckled. She then smiled. “You can get more of that but you still need to fill your stomach first.” She answered him.
Gregory smiled and touched her hand with his own

A love that’s pure, she felt it as she watched and listened to the both of them.
She was taken out of her thoughts when she realized that the two of them were still sitting on the bed.Gregory’s eyes never strayed. He was looking at her without a word coming out of his mouth. Samantha stared. She then stared at the pillows.
