Chapter 44: As One

There arrival was welcomed by the seemingly well-happy faces. Aunt Nina and her husband was eyeing them with joy. Cassidy’s palm covered her mouth. She was staring with eyes in shock. Chase on the other hand threw his thumb as a gesture of approval.
Samantha let a smile flashed on her face while she heard him gave out a chuckle. He pulled up towards the cabin. The horse stopped followed with its soft neigh. Gregory stooped down while Samantha remained on top. Gregory patted the horse. He looked up and smiled at her. When he suddenly reached for her and carried her in his arms. Samantha was lifted and then her feet landed on the ground.
She looked up to him. She loved this day. “Thank you… For finding me.” She uttered. Her chest felt the fluttering of warmth as she continued to stare at his eyes.
Gregory’s mouth moved. He smiled back at her. His fingers went to touch her cheek lightly. Before he planted a soft kiss on the top of forehead. He whispered something so eerily light that Samantha failed to catch. She wanted to hear what he said. She lifted her head more. Before she search through his eyes.
“What did you say? I want to hear it.” She uttered it in a soft breathless voice. Samantha was desperate to know about it. She wanted to know. She really wanted to know what he uttered.
Gregory touched her cheek again in a gentle caress. His eyes were staring at her with full intensity. Something Samantha isn’t scared of because he looked loving and tender. Gregory’s eyes displayed something in it, an emotion that brought Samantha into realizing another thing about him.
Gregory loves to stare. He loves gazing. And his gaze, is something that she is starting to crave all the time. Samantha wanted Gregory’s eyes for herself. She’s being greedy but she love the kind of stares she gives her. She never was fond of someone’s stare not until she noticed this in Gregory.
Gregory shook his head. “You’ll know in time, Sam.” He replied before he dipped his head and kissed the side of her cheek…
--
They went to eat for an early dinner outside. Shared laughter and a simple feast was lighthearted enough to make Sam happy. They were basically exchanging glances throughout the entire time which made Cassidy cooed. She was elbowing and teasing Sam about the two of them. She was talking about how she wanted them to have another wedding. She was still grieving of her absence in Samantha’s special day. She even told Gregory, she wanted her to propose to Samantha again.
The latter smiled and a glint passed in his eyes. He stared at Samantha with a full smile on his face.
It earned another teases from the people around them.
Aunt Nina and Uncle Marcus were supportive of their niece’s teasing. Chase on the other hand was uttering his advice on how to have and keep a happy and loving relationship. It earned an eye roll from Cassidy. She was hating on his comments, contradicting it with her own opinions. The couple then bantered which earned their laughs.
Samantha helped in carrying the containers back inside. She was arranging the containers, putting them in the dishwasher. She closed it and stood straight. She turned around and walked backwards. She was surprised seeing him too. He was carrying the empty plates. His eyes were focused on her.
She moved for a bit. Gregory smiled and placed the plates on the sink. He spun his body around before he stood I front of her. He was caging her. Samantha’s head was moving from left of right, checking the space. She was now being sandwich between the refrigerator and Gregory in front of her.
“Uhmm.” She said. She was trying to process somethings. She couldn’t concentrate in uttering something good towards him. The latter seemed to find enjoyment in watching her. She shook her head a bit before she raised her eyebrows at him.
“You’re laughing.” She stated. Her brows furrowed even more when she saw how he suddenly grinned at her. Samantha suddenly displayed a sour expression on her face.
Gregory touched both sides of her cheek, capturing it with his hold. He started smiling at her. “I am laughing because I found you adorable.” He took seconds to pause, just plainly staring at her eyes. Before he then moved his fingers, angling her cheek for a bit. He leaned closer. “I adore you, Sam.”
Samantha’s mind seemed to turned off the thoughts from coming out. She was blankly spacing out, trying to catch with up with his honesty. She stared at her. Her eyes went big. She spaced through his eyes. He was honest. Samantha thought to herself.
Gregory smiled. Before he let go of her cheeks. He was still close. His eyes were trying to say something and Samantha stared, waiting for her mind to think about what he was trying to convey when words seemed to not come out of his mouth. He was acting discerningly good. Samantha wanted to piece the puzzles of his personality, correctly.
“You’re acting very discreet. I wanted to decipher your messages accurately, Greg.” She converse. She can still feel her back being stuck in the fridge.
Gregory shifted his gaze on her lips. He then smirk. Something which Samantha odd. He was being weird today. But she couldn’t even protest. She liked this Gregory. She then unknowingly followed his movement. She stared at his lips before she stared back in his eyes.
A shriek came. Making the Gregory moved. They stared only to see Cassidy closing her eyes with the palm of her hand. She was carrying the glass pitcher on her other hand. She walked. “Don’t mind me. I am just passing. Think about me like I am someone invisible.” She was moving like she was trying to skedaddle in a camp site stealing something.
“Just don’t mind me folks. Continue what you two were doing in the first place.” She then eyed them with mischief in her stare. She placed the pitcher on the cobblestone before she clasp her hands together. “You two are really lovely people.” She complimented. She then waved her hands in a goodbye gesture, turning her back and raising her thumb mimicking Chase’s favorite sign.
The two both laugh because of it.
“They’re practically becoming as one.” Samantha stated. The two were basically acting like they were twins. She shook her head slowly. Chase and Cassidy, she loved how these two mended their relationship. Her eyes went towards Gregory who is already staring at her.
Gregory’s head moved in a tilt. “How about us?” He asked. His eyes were examining her.
Samantha’s hand move. Her mouth moved and she suddenly smiled because of his question. She lightly pinch his arms. “What do you think? Are we becoming as one?” She asked him.
Gregory shrugged but he was smiling at her. “I don’t know.” He uttered in a teasing way. “But I think we will eventually figure out.” He added.
Samantha shook her head because of his funny action before she nodded in approval to what he said. . “It’s getting late. Should we wrap these up?” Her head turned towards what’s placed in the sink.
“Right.” Gregory answered. He then pulled his sleeves above elbow level. “We have a wedding to attend tomorrow.” He throw her a cheeky smile.
