Chapter 55: Hike

They hiked down the trail. They passed to the fields and there were blossoms on the side. Samantha adored the look of the flowers that were swaying along with the wind that passed them. She stopped for a bit and stare.
She looked to the side of her and saw Gregory with his lips that were slightly quivering…
Samantha smiled at him. Already sensing that he is keeping something behind hm as his hands were placed on his back. She brought her eyes back to the fields.
Gregory got the wild daises and handed the flower to her.
She stilled and stared down towards the flowers. Samantha lifted her head and smiled again. She’s been smiling frequently since the day she was with him. She happily took the flowers offered by him.
“Thank you!” Samantha loved it.
Gregory smiled at her.
“Gosh, this feels like I am really watching a movie!”
Cassidy uttered, before she uttered some more. She was ranting to Chase who stood there listening like a child being scolded by her mother for a fault he never did. The two chuckled. Samantha and Gregory, with their eyes smiling only stretched their lips at the two of them.
**
They were walking down the rocks and Samantha was trying to catch her breath. She was making small exhales every time the soles of her feet were trying to land through it.
She then stopped and reach through the wooden rails. Her fingers wrapped around it to do some holding as she tried to gain back her stable breathing.
Gregory went immediately to her side.
He caught her through her elbow. “Are you okay?” He sounded worried.
Samantha looked at him and smiled even though she was struggling on her breath. “I wasn’t really into stuff outdoors. My nervous system must have been surprise because of this kind of hike.”
Gregory took his backpack off his back and opened it. He handed her the bottle water. “Here. Drink this first.”
“But it’s yours. And we have to walk further.” Samantha replied.
He shook his head. “You need this more than me.” Gregory answered.
Samantha was hesitating to get the water container out of his hands but then he held her hand and urged her to take the bottle.
“Sam, please. Take this. Don’t worry about me.” Gregory uttered.
Samantha smiled and grab the bottle and opened it to have a drink. She suddenly felt refreshed. She drank the whole liquid out of her own bottle. But upon receiving Gregory’s her thirst seemed to disappear upon having the rightful amount of water.
She wiped the excess, wiping out of her mouth. She was staring at Gregory now who has the look of amusement in his face even for the fact that she was doing nothing special for his eyes to have that look. Samantha frowned at him and his smile widened in return…
He shrugged his head but he was smiling and reached to touch her cheek.
“Stop that look. You’re tempting me to do something again.” He uttered.
“And what is that?” She bantered with a slight rise in her tone.
Gregory chuckled and his teeth were showing. “Why don’t you figure it out then?” He challenged her with a teasing tone. “I really wanted you to figure it out right now.”
He uttered as his head suddenly lowered to level with hers.
His eyes were literally directing its gaze on her own eyes and Samantha can’t really help herself but to feel the sudden rise of her heartbeats as she stared back at him. She was feeling the flutters inside her but still she chose to calm them down. Almost eradicating it out of her head for her to not entertain the thought.
“You’re teasing me again.” She muttered.
Gregory’s smile widened. He dipped his head and planted a kiss above her nose tip. “You’re lovely.” He talked.
He then straightened his posture. “You’re probably really tired. My sweet baby is having her mood swings right now. Do you want me to carry you?”
Samantha was half-glaring at him when she heard him. The frown then turned it a more of her pouting. Gregory can only smile as he stared at her. He turned his back and crouched down. Samantha was confused at the sight of him doing the movement but her eyes went big upon the realization of his deed.
“C’mon. Hop, Sam. Put your arms around my neck.” He urged her. His head slightly turned to the side to give her a glance.
“I’ll carry you.” He was offering her to carry her in his back.
She shook her head. “I am heavy. And you’re also tired, Greg. I don’t want to contribute and worn out the energy left in you.”
He changed his posture into being in an upright stance again. He looked at her.
“You’re light as a feather. I can carry you.” His gaze bore at hers with intent. “I lift weights, Love. And they’re heavier than you.”
She pouted… And he was smiling before he turned his back again and then he offered his back for a piggybank ride. Samantha placed her arms around her neck before she felt herself being lifted by Gregory’s hold.
They walked while she was on his back. He was carrying her until they were back on the rest house.
**
It was their last day on the place. Samantha, bid their goodbyes to them. She went to give them hugs and the girls with some pecks on their cheeks. She thanked them before the familiar black shiny car still looking glossier as ever went to offer them to ride inside it once again…
She loved the place. And the experiences that came along with it. She promised herself and even told Gregory of her plans to go back there when they will have another free time to enjoy…
Samantha was never a naturally outgoing type of person but when she was there, it was easy for her to deal with the people. They were open, they were good, and they were far more different from the people she once had at one point have her everyday dealings with…
