Chapter 14 BIG CITY

It was around 2 pm when the bus docked at the city bus station. That was surrounded by big buildings.
" Mummy, So where are we going to spend the night? " A boy around 10 years old inquired after they alighted the bus.
" There is no need to distress about that, Justin. " Her Mother, Matilda stated in a soft voice.
" Justin stay with Grandpa and Aunty, Ariana here as me and your grandmother grab our items from the bus and Don't depart here no matter what until we return, Okay? " Matilda inquired
" Okay, I will stay here with Grandpa and Aunty. " Justin the little boy stated
" Justin, could you tell us what the city looks like is it big? " A soft voice beside her inquired
" The city cannot be compared with the village. The city is surrounded by big buildings that are built of glass and they are so high and they are almost in the reach of the sky. Many luxurious vehicles are on the tarmac and they cannot be compared to the horses back in the village. " Justin stated
" And are the cars here more prominent than the Harritons family?" Aunty Aurora inquired
" Yes, They are even bigger but they look like the ones the Harritons family owns ...," Justin stated before he was interrupted by her mother.
"Justin, Justin hold Aunty tightly as I grip Grandpa's hand so that we can cross the zebra crossing to board that taxi over there, Make sure not to get forfeited in the crowd, Okay dear I trust you, and if you feel that you are lost please stay put and away from the tarmac, understood. " Matilda stated as they walked to the Broadway and let Justin and Ariana walk past her to keep an eye on them. The traffic lights were green and the crowd that had compiled in one place all emitted out the two, Justin and Ariana, who got mixed in the crowd were lost and they were in an unfamiliar place and Justin could not spot the Cab to where he was directed before her aunty tapped her.
" Justin, Are we there? " Ariana inquired
" Aunty, I cannot find the Taxi that Mother told me about. " Justin stated
" Matilda, where is Justin and Ariana? " Aurora inquired
" I thought they were here with you! " Matilda stated dumbfounded
" Excuse me, ma'am, I am not supposed to be parking right here I might get fined for that. " The cab driver stated
" What do you, mean? " Matilda asked infuriated
" These are the country's regulations and ma'am, I don't have enough cash to pay the government officers, I earn little and that is what I feed my family with, Please let us go. " The driver stayed before he boarded the cab and started the engine.
" Matilda we have to split up. Here is the fare for the cab and tell the cab driver to take you to this address." Aurora stated
" Mummy, Who lives here and what is the name of the person I am going to get there?" Matilda inquired before the driver hooted the car.
" Tell whoever you will find there my name, They will understand. " Aurora stated as she closed the door to the back seat.
" Please find my son and bring him safe. " Matilda stated as he yelled as the car left and her heart from there was filled with uneasiness.
" Driver here is the address that I was directed you take us to. " Matilda stated as she tried to keep a positive mind. He knew that even if her son was intelligent he never visited the city and the thought of him being kidnapped by the child traffickers gave her a lot of regrets knowing that her son was depended on by her sister who was blind and she relied on her nephew to show her the way but since the circumstance made her to she make the choice. If there was otherwise she would have chosen to stay back with them. She was so lost in her thoughts that she did not hear the driver what he conversed earlier until her grandfather tapped her.
" Is everything alright Grandpa? " Matilda inquired in a low soft voice. Before he pointed to the driver.
" What about the driver? " Matilda inquired in allow tone
The old man gestured with his hands. He was deaf and mute.
" Ma'am we have docked to the destination given on the address paper. " The driver stated as he halted the car on the roadside near the luxurious villa.
" Are you sure sir this is the place? " Matilda asked in doubt.
" Yes, This is the place I am sure of it. " The driver stated
" Okay, how much do I owe you? " Matilda inquired
" 10 dollars ma'am. " The driver stated before he made his way and opened the car boot to pull out their belongings Matilda helped his grandfather make his way out of the cab after she counted the currency notes that she was given earlier by her mother. Matilda handed over the cash after their luggage was taken out of the taxi boot. The tarmac here was not busy and was filled with silence. Matilda's heart was racing as if it was about to move out of the cage. Matilda gestured to his grandfather as they crossed to the other side of the road to where the villa was located. Matilda took some gaps of air before she raised her hand to ring the bell that was next to the gate. She wasn't sure if she had to wait but rang the bell again and a soft voice responded.
" Yes, How may I help you? "A soft voice inquired
" I am Aurora Miller. "Matilda stated
" Just a minute. " She responded before the line was cut short.
" Grandpa, Do you think that it's my father who lives here? " Matilda who sat next to the old man inquired.
" I don't know, Your mother never spoke of it with me. " The old man gestured with his hands slowly before the gate hinges were heard as they cracked open a middle-aged man in his 70s came out and he was slightly recognizable except for the eyes that Matilda reckoned to be the same as those of her sister.
" How may help you? " The nan inquired
" M..my na... name is Matilda Miller, My mother's name is Aurora Miller, and she gave me this address and she is the one who asked me to say her name when I got here. " Matilda stated as her heart continued to race after the two looked at each other in speechlessness for a few winks while her hands were secreting with the thick sweat since she did not know what he would say and if they would throw her and her grandfather to the streets, Thoughts were scrambling through her sanity that she did not see it coming and the old man gave her a tight hug these caught her absurd.
" You must be my granddaughter, I can't believe you have grown to be a beautiful lady. " He stated as tears dropped continuously on both of their cheeks.
" Than... Thank you. " Matilda stuttered as her cheeks had turned pale due to the continuous tears that had covered her cheeks.
" Don't cry my child, you are with your grandfather now. Come in my dear. " He stated before he loosened his grip on her.
" Can I call you Grandpa? " Matilda inquired
" Yes, Sure my dear. " Grandpa stated
" Grandpa, Meet my other grandpa. "Matilda. Stated as she swabbed up her tears and gestured to his grandfather who smiled. Before he stretched his hand for the greeting.
" Nice to finally meet you, sir. I am Amos Miller and welcome to my humble home. " Amos stated as he helped the old man stand
" We are the ones who are humbled to finally meet you. My grandpa's name is Simon Matteo, he has offered me, my sister, and my mother a home for all our lives since mother made her way to the village. " Matilda stated as she sipped down the cold juice.
" Wait, You have a sister? " Amos Miller asked astonished
" Yes, my twin sister and I also have a son, His name is Santiago. " Matilda stated
" Wow, I am a great-grandfather now, and may I know how old he is? " Amos asked
" He is turning 10 years old now. " Matilda stated
" Wow, He is a big boy now and when will I meet them? " Amos asked
" You will meet them but there have been an issue. " Matilda stated
" Which issue are you talking about, Dear? " Amos inquired worried
" Where we used to leave the house got scorched to ashes and we were left with no choice but to borrow our neighbors a place for a night or two but the Harriton family that had employed mother fired her after she worked for them for 12 years with the allegation of attempting to burn the fields down and her fellow employees were given a notice of warning, So mother would not the kind-hearted neighbor who gave us a roof to end in trouble so she compiled the little she had and the little she was given and we all made our way here but on the way after descending on the bus and we were too broad the taxi here. My son and my sister who is blind lost track of each other and We had to leave mother to search for them.
" Which street is that, I will send my men to look for them. I know that you are worried." Amos stated as he picked a pen from his pocket and wrote on a notebook that he took from the table.
" The bus stop from Maldives village. I am not familiar with this street and that's all I can say I know about." Matlida stated
" No need to worry about that dear. I understand you." Amos Miller stated
" Thank you, Grandpa and I just don't know how I can I can repay these," Matlida stated
" No treat that as a gift for the many years that we have been away from each other and with that please excuse me, I need to make the call to my men to start that search. Enjoy yourself and treat these as your home." Amos stated as he got up and strolled out from the extravagant sitting area he dialled some digits on his phone.
