Chapter 18: Escape Room
Chapter 18: Escape Room
The pitter-patter of raindrops against the window filled Meriah's cozy apartment, creating a soothing soundtrack to the lazy afternoon she shared with Francis. Outside, the world was shrouded in a gentle mist, the streets deserted as people sought shelter from the rain. Inside, however, Meriah and Francis were snug and warm, cocooned in blankets on the couch as they savored the simple pleasure of each other's company.
Meriah leaned against Francis, her head resting on his shoulder as she gazed out at the rain-soaked streets.
"I love days like this," she said, her voice soft with contentment. "There's something so peaceful about the rain."
Francis wrapped his arm around Meriah, pulling her close as he pressed a gentle kiss to her forehead.
"Me too," he agreed, his voice filled with warmth. "Especially when I'm with you."
Meriah smiled up at Francis, her heart fluttering at the love and tenderness in his eyes.
"I'm glad you're here," she said, her voice barely above a whisper as she snuggled closer to him. "I couldn't imagine spending this rainy day with anyone else."
Francis's heart swelled with love at Meriah's words, his arms tightening around her as he pressed a soft kiss to her lips.
"I feel the same way," he murmured against her lips, his voice filled with sincerity. "Being with you makes even the dreariest days feel bright and beautiful."
Meriah melted into Francis's embrace, her heart overflowing with love as she reveled in the warmth and tenderness of their shared moment. Outside, the rain continued to fall, but inside the cozy apartment, Meriah and Francis were lost in their own little world, wrapped up in blankets and each other as they savored the sweetness of their love.
As they cuddled together on the couch, Meriah and Francis lost track of time, their laughter and whispered conversations filling the room with warmth and joy. With each passing moment, their bond grew stronger, their love deepening with every shared embrace and tender kiss.
And as the rain continued to fall outside, Meriah and Francis remained wrapped in each other's arms, their hearts intertwined as they reveled in the simple pleasure of being together on a rainy day. In that moment, surrounded by love and warmth, they knew that no matter what challenges lay ahead, they would face them together, united in their love and devotion to each other.
The ticking of the clock echoed through the dimly lit room as Meriah and Francis huddled together, their eyes fixed on the intricate series of puzzles that stood between them and freedom. With each passing moment, the tension in the air grew thicker, the weight of their mission pressing down on them like a heavy blanket.
"We have to solve these puzzles quickly," Meriah said, her voice filled with urgency as she scanned the room for any clues that could help them unlock the door blocking their escape route. "Time is running out, and we can't afford to waste a single second."
Francis nodded in agreement, his eyes narrowed with determination as he examined the first puzzle before them. "Let's start by analyzing the clues," he suggested, his voice tinged with excitement. "If we can figure out the pattern, we might be able to unlock the door and escape before it's too late."
With that, Meriah and Francis set to work, their minds racing as they attempted to decipher the intricate series of symbols and codes that adorned the walls of the room. With each puzzle they solved, the tension in the air eased slightly, replaced by a sense of determination and resolve.
But just as they were on the brink of a breakthrough, disaster struck in the form of a particularly tricky puzzle that seemed impossible to crack. "This one's stumping me," Meriah admitted, frustration evident in her voice as she stared at the jumble of symbols before her.
Francis frowned in concentration as he studied the puzzle, his brow furrowed with concentration as he attempted to discern the hidden pattern. "We can't give up now," he said, his voice filled with determination. "There has to be a clue somewhere that will help us unlock this puzzle."
With renewed determination, Meriah and Francis searched the room for any sign of a clue that could help them crack the puzzle. But just as they were about to give up hope, Meriah's sharp eyes landed on a small inscription carved into the wall.
"Look at this," she exclaimed, excitement bubbling up inside her as she pointed towards the inscription. "I think this might be the clue we've been looking for."
Francis's eyes widened with excitement as he read the inscription, his mind racing as he attempted to decipher its hidden meaning. "It's a riddle," he exclaimed, a smile spreading across his face as he realized the significance of their discovery. "And I think I know the answer."
With bated breath, Meriah and Francis set to work, using the clues provided by the inscription to solve the puzzle before them. With each correct answer, the tension in the room eased slightly, replaced by a sense of excitement and anticipation.
And then, just as they were on the brink of giving up hope, they heard a satisfying click as the final puzzle unlocked, revealing the door to their escape route. With a shared grin of triumph, Meriah and Francis rushed towards the door, their hearts pounding with excitement as they prepared to make their escape.
But just as they reached the door, disaster struck in the form of a sudden power outage, plunging the room into darkness and leaving them stranded in the dimly lit room once more.
"We're running out of time," Meriah exclaimed, panic evident in her voice as she fumbled for her flashlight in the darkness. "We have to find a way out of here before it's too late."
Francis nodded in agreement, his heart pounding in his chest as he searched the room for any sign of a clue that could help them escape. And then, just as hope was beginning to fade, he spotted a small lever hidden behind a pile of rubble in the corner of the room.
"I think I found something," he exclaimed, excitement evident in his voice as he rushed towards the lever. "If we can pull this lever, it might open the door and lead us to safety."
With a shared nod of determination, Meriah and Francis pulled the lever with all their might, their hearts pounding with anticipation as they waited to see if their gamble had paid off.
And then, to their immense relief, they heard the sound of the door unlocking, revealing the path to their escape. With a shared grin of triumph, Meriah and Francis rushed towards the door, their hearts soaring with relief as they stepped out into the cool night air, free at last from the clutches of the room's sinister puzzles.
As they emerged into the night, their spirits lifted and their bond stronger than ever, Meriah and Francis knew that no matter what challenges lay ahead, they would face them together, united in their determination to overcome adversity and emerge victorious against the forces that sought to destroy them.Download Novelah App
