Chapter 52 - Sweetcake

Keelan's POV
"Master, why are you walking back and forth?" Mirim asked. She was now back again. I wouldn't deny that I missed her so much.
My steps halted as I sighed heavily. I dabbed my chest as I blew out the air that had stuck in my lungs, my lips pursed. "What should I do? I feel so nervous right now."
"Shouldn't you be happy instead, Master?"
"I am, but I can't help being nervous."
Euri— I meant, Heart, sent me a message through Mirim that she wanted to see me at her chamber later. Why did she ask for me? Not that I didn't like it, but why at her chamber and why later? My heart kept on pounding out loud, I was even breathing heavily.
What if I couldn't control myself? What if I couldn't resist the urge to kiss her? I groaned. She was making me lose my mind!
Suddenly, Mirim was receiving a signal from the King.
"Master, you are being summoned by the King. Please proceed to the Royal Garden."
Royal Garden? Why there? Carl always summoned me to the Perceiver's room. I wondered why he changed our meeting place.
I went off to the said location and I was welcomed by Mary, Queen Mother's attendant but now serving Vanessa. She escorted me to the garden and left once I had entered.
I smiled as I shook my head. I still couldn't believe that Vanessa was the queen now. I knew it when she suddenly acted weird towards Carl. So that was the reason, she was catching feelings for him. However, I was really surprised when I found out that we used to be in a relationship when I was still a human. Should I be glad that I had died? That everything ended up like this? I really liked the fact that I was in love with Eur— Heart. Oh, right. I had to get used to calling her Heart now, otherwise, Vanessa might wonder who I was talking about. 'Coz who would have thought that the chosen one was once a human? But as for me, I never thought that she was originally a cupid. Not just an ordinary cupid, but a royal cupid and was even the chosen one. Did I hit the jackpot? All the punishment I had experienced was all worth it. We could be together. I could freely love her without thinking of any rules.
I snapped out of my reverie when my head hit the tree branch that was hanging, blocking my way. I was in the garden, not in a forest. Why was there a tree in here?
I stepped backward and looked up to see the tree. I groaned as I rubbed my forehead. "Sometimes I wish I'm not 6ft tall."
My attention went to the sound of laughter coming from three different people.
"That's what you get when you always daydream," Vanessa spewed. They all saw how I bumped my forehead into that damn tree branch.
"What were you thinking about?" said the voice that made my heartbeat wild. She was still as gorgeous as when I first saw her as Heart.
"She was thinking about you, obviously," Vanessa answered Heart and then turned her gaze at her husband. "Right, Carl?"
"Did it really show?" I asked embarrassingly as I covered my face with my hand. They laughed at me.
I removed my hand, walked toward them, and sat on the wooden chair next to my Heart. My heart was beating loudly and faster.
"You didn't even deny it. Still brave as ever, Keel, I see, I should have learned that from you sooner," Carl teased.
I laughed nervously and then I changed the topic. "Can I ask what a commoner like me doing here with the royals?"
Carl cleared his throat. "How many hours do you have to spend in the human world?"
"Approximately 15 hours, I think. Why?"
"I'll be granting you two more hours for tonight," he said as he gave me a smile.
I got confused. I looked at the ladies and they were throwing knowingly gazes at each other. What was their deal?
I narrowed my eyes. "For tonight? What for?"
Vanessa suddenly stood up and took Carl's hands as she fake-coughed. "Let's go, Carl, we need to resume our honeymoon."
Carl choked a cough at what Vanessa said.
"Come on, Carl, let's go. Don't play hard to get," Vanessa added. Carl was all flustered as he stood up and followed his wife.
I was embarrassed for Carl, but never mind that, 'coz now I was alone with Heart.
I cleared my throat as I turned to face her. Why was she smiling at me so beautifully?
"Forget about coming to my chamber, and instead spend the night with me in the human world," she said.
My face started to burn up. What did she just say?
Her eyes widened as if she had just realized what she said. "No, that's not what I meant. I was just wondering if you could join me for dinner in the human world since I have an errand to do there."
"Oh, that's what you meant. So I'm not originally included in your schedule since your main reason is that errand you're talking about," I uttered with disappointment in my tone.
Heart smiled at me and then gave me an unexpected peck on the lips and said, "well, you could say that."
I wanted to be mad but my lips were betraying me as they formed into a smile. "You can't kiss me and then make me disappointed again."
"Then I'll just kiss you again," she said, and then she really did, passionately, like how she kissed me when she thought I was still unconscious. She was now on my lap, her hands on the back of my head as she pulled it closer to deepen the kiss. My hands were on her small waist, resisting the urge to explore her body. I never wanted to pull away but for some reason, I did.
"Are you sure we can make out here?" I asked as I chuckled.
She giggled and then she nodded at me.
-------------------------
"I thought you wanted to have dinner with me?" I asked as I surveyed the place. The restaurant's ambiance would make you feel that it was high-end, well, that didn't bother me since we have a cupid card. But what bothered me was that they only offered desserts.
"Yes, sweets will be our dinner," she said as she chuckled and shrugged.
I laughed. "So you remembered that I love sweets."
"Of course, how would I forget that very important thing about you, sweetcake?" she teased.
"Please don't remind me about that. That was so embarrassing," I said as I shook my head.
After we had our desserts, Heart signaled a waiter, her hand extending a bit up high.
"Don't tell me you ordered more?" I asked, my hands on my stomach. I was really stuffed with apple pie, brownies, cupcakes, cookies, and ice cream, I couldn't eat anymore.
A few moments later, the waiter came with a red box in his hand. Did she order a cake?
The waiter put the box on the table, smiled at me, and then he bid Heart good luck before he left.
"Good luck for what?" I asked.
She smiled and then she bit her lower lip which I thought was so sexy. She answered, "open it."
I furrowed my eyebrows at her before I untied the golden ribbon. As soon as I opened the red box, my eyes widened. I was speechless.
It was heart-shaped strawberry cake and it looked so tasty—but who cares about that if there was a dedication written on the cake.
My gaze went to Heart after I read it. I couldn't say anything, my heart was pounding so hard as if it wanted to come out of my chest.
I was even stunned when Heart began, "Keelan Miller— no, Keelan Cupid. . ."
She took a deep breath and grinned at me before she continued, "will you be my match?"
I quickly nodded as a wide smile plastered on my face.
"Of course, I will." I hurriedly stood up and she did the same, then we pulled each other into a hug. "I never thought that you'll propose to me. I guess I am really irresistible even for the chosen one."

Eurivin's POV
After we had dinner, I told Keelan that he should go back to the kingdom since the two hours granted to him were almost used up. He tried to insist to stay and asked me many times about the errand I was talking about, but I didn't tell him. I was planning to let him know once it was all over.
I would be seeing him again. I wondered how was he. Was he doing fine? I decided to see my father. My human father.
I knocked on the door about four times before it opened. The smell of alcohol blended in the air. My dad was drunk again.
"Dad," I called.
His eyes widened when he heard my voice. "Eurivin?"
"Yes, it's me, da—"
Before I could even finish my sentence, dad pulled me into a hug. A tight one. He began crying as he sobbed. "I've been wanting to do this for a long time."
A smile formed on my lips as I hugged him back.
"I'm sorry, my daughter. I'm sorry that I was a terrible father, I'm sorry for not treating you and your mom right. I'm sorry that I blamed you for your mother's death. I'm sorry for blaming you for everything. There was this voice urging me to do all that. The voice was telling me that I have to make your life miserable, that I don't need to be kind to you. The voice was keeping on blaming you for everything, I couldn't resist it," he added. He then pulled away and placed his hands on my shoulders. "But then, when you were back again with your long hair, the voice started to fade until now that I could no longer hear it."
I smiled at my father as my tears began to roll down my cheeks. "It's fine, dad. I forgive you."
He shook his head, his tears were still streaming down his face. "No, do not forgive me. I don't deserve it."
I smiled wider and sniffed before I replied, "It's really fine, dad. Don't be too hard on yourself."
I placed my hands on his head and erased his memories of me, then I turned into my cupid form.
I watched my human father as he went back to his senses. "What am I doing here?" he asked himself and then he wiped his face, his forehead wrinkled. "Why am I crying?"
I smiled sadly as I lifted myself to fly.
I'm sorry, dad. It was all my fault. If it weren't for me, nothing like that would happen. That voice you were hearing—you and mom—was from the King of the Underworld.
