Chapter 53 - Finale

Keelan's POV
"Mirim, are you excited about our mission?" I asked enthusiastically. "It's good to be back in action, right?"
"Yes, Master. I had been shut down for a while and it had been so long since our last mission."
"Let's go!"
I flew down to the human world and was ready to be the top matchmaker again.
"We can do this in a day, are you ready, Mirim?"
"Yes, Master. I was born ready."
I laughed at her reply. "Right. Give me the location."
Mirim showed me the location and I started to boost my speed to get there faster. The nearer we got the more my forehead wrinkled.
"Why are we heading to this location?" I asked.
"Because our target is Harry Redwoods, Master."
I halted as my eyes widened in surprise. "You mean, the Harry we know?"
"Yes, Master. Is there a problem?"
"No, but— aren't you surprised?" I asked as I began to fly again.
"No, Master. Based on my stored data, Harry Redwoods hasn't been paired to his match, so his assigned match is now 45 years old and still single."
That made sense since he was mismatched with Vanessa. I had no hard feelings toward Harry anymore. Heart explained everything to me about why he was like that. So, everything had a reason, I thought he was just an asshole. But when he forced himself on me, was it also the voice that pushed him to do that or he was just being a pervert? Either way, I didn't care anymore.
When I reached my destination, I saw him stepping outside the door. I landed on the roof of his house and observed from his back as he began to walk.
"Master, his match is on the move."
Harry's match was one of his neighbors all along. Their distance was just two houses away. I couldn't believe they were just this close, but the question was, how would they meet, and where? In the street?
Harry was now jogging a bit while checking his watch a few times, I bet he was late for work since it was already eight in the morning. His match was now leaving her house too, but not in a hurry since her location was just moving a bit.
"Taxi!" Harry called as he ran to chase the car but it stopped nowhere near him. He ran again to reach it and when his hand was about to open the taxi's door, his side bumped into someone and his hand touched the hand of the woman. It was his match. The taxi was waiting for her.
I had already marked them as my target so I just needed to release the arrows, and I did as soon as their eyes met. "Love arrow shot!"
Even he had a happy ending, I thought.
---------------------------
I got back to the kingdom as soon as I had accomplished my mission. I was even hopping while I was walking. I wanted to deliver the good news to Heart, but I heard a topic that got my attention. Three matchmaker cupids were talking about Heart.
"What did you just say?" I interrupted their conversation.
"The chosen one is stunning?" Kyle responded.
My brows furrowed as I shook my head. "No, before that."
The other cupid named Nick answered this time. "I wish we could see her even longer?"
I was losing my patience, my voice raised a bit. "No! Before that."
Geo, who I thought was the oldest of the three, flashed his palms in submission. "Relax, Keelan. Why are you getting worked up?"
I sighed. "I'm sorry, I was just. . . you know. Did I hear you guys right? Did you say that the chosen one is leaving the kingdom?"
They all sighed heavily, their faces grew sad as they nodded their heads.
"The 27th King and the chosen one are leaving the kingdom to ascend to the Cloud Palace today," Kyle uttered.
What the fuck? Why I wasn't aware of it? Did she propose to me only to leave me then? My fists were forming into balls as I clenched my jaw. I hurriedly went up to the Royal Palace and Mary, the Queen's attendant was as if waiting for my arrival.
"The Royals are waiting for you," she said.
So she was waiting for me to say goodbye?
I followed the attendant with some heaviness in my chest. Why was she doing this to me? She once almost had left me to go to hell and now to the Cloud Palace? I thought everything was perfect. I thought I would be spending more time with her. I thought—
"We're here," Mary informed. I didn't notice that we had arrived.
"Keelan! We're all been waiting for you. What took you so long?" Vanessa asserted.
I ignored her and instead strode across the hall towards Heart. She stared at me with a question on her face but I wasn't bothered a bit. I pulled her into a tight hug as soon as I reached her. "Don't leave me, please."
Then I heard her chuckle. Without pulling away from the hug, I asked, "did you just laugh?"
She laughed even more so I broke away. I wrinkled my forehead. "Why are you laughing? I didn't say anything funny."
She beamed at me and then she suddenly threw her arms around my neck, making me bend forward a bit. Then a smile formed on my lips when she whispered, "There is no way I'm leaving my match."
Father cleared his throat so Heart pulled away.
"Are you jealous of Keelan, father?" Heart teased.
Father turned away his gaze, his hands were clasped together on his back. "Of course, I am. You look happier when you are with him."
"I bet it's the same as you when you are with mother. I know you would look the happiest," Heart responded.
Father chuckled as he covered Heart into an embrace and then gave her a forehead kiss. "You got it right, my beautiful daughter."
Heart went my way and placed an arm on my waist. I smiled at the act, and so I put an arm on her shoulders. Father nodded at us and gave me one last message. "Keelan, be sure to make my beautiful daughter the happiest."
I smiled at him as I squeezed Heart's arm slightly. "I will, father."
Father turned his gaze towards the smiling King and Queen. "Long live, King and Queen."
When father was finished with his goodbyes, a pair of wings grew from his back as he flew up high towards the light that was opening as a portal to the Cloud Palace. The portal closed as soon as father had disappeared to heaven.
"Did you think I'll leave you behind?" Heart asked.
I pouted as I nodded, but she glared at me. "Don't do that, your lips are too tempting."
I laughed as I blushed and then I whispered in her ear. "Are you still the Eurivin I know?"
Vanessa behind us fake coughed. "Please, get a room."
-----------------------------------
Five years later...
Heart fulfilled her promise and stayed by my side throughout the years that had passed. She also assisted in ruling the kingdom which made the healers' mission easier. I thought that their targets were given and sent by the King, but I was wrong. They were the ones who would search for their targets. Now I knew why they were always lost to matchmakers. But with Heart, they were now able to experience an extended vacation in the human world. Poor Vanessa, she wasn't able to enjoy the privilege sooner. And now, she was even confined in the kingdom being the queen, but I guessed, she didn't mind it at all. She was very happy with Carl since they now had a Prince.
And now, I was in the Ceremonial Hall ready to become an angel. I had accomplished my dream! I had paired 1000 matches!
"Keelan Cupid, you have now completed your mission as a matchmaker cupid," Carl began. "With the power bestowed upon me as a king, you will be granted the attributes of being an angel. A pair of wings and an immortal body. With this, you may now pass on to the Cloud Palace."
A pair of wings grew from my back just like my father.
"Thank you," I mouthed to Carl and Vanessa beside him. I glanced at Heart and nodded at her, then she turned her gaze at the two, I guessed she was sending her last message to the two through telepathy.
When she returned her gaze to me, I smiled widely as I extended a hand at her. "Are you ready, my Heart?"
She smiled back at me as she reached for my hand. "I am, my angel."
Together, with her hand in my hand, we spread our wings and flew up high to the Cloud Palace.
