He got her out of the car and took her inside.
"Look at me " he said.
"you're okay. Just breathe"
" is he dead?"
" no he's not "
" he's okay. He will wake up in like one hour or so. And we need to leave here before he does."
He might come back, and who knows he might come back with an army of wolves the next time we see him.
" I can not just pack up and leave. I have a life here,a job."
" jayda!, you are not listening to me. Your life is more important."
" I just need to keep you safe. To do that, I need to get you out of here now."
" go grab a few things you might need. Go, come on"
" we just need to lay low for a week or two"
He gave her a little push towards her bedroom. She could see he was serious now and he was not begging or asking. She went in and packed some few essentials in a backpack, while he kept watch from the window. Checking to see if anyone was coming or lurking around.
When she came back in to the sitting room that was when she started noticed the soil on the carpet. Her pot plant was gone, her place was thrashed even after the reckless poor attempt to clean it up.
" what happened here?"
" I can explain everything but we need to get out of here first "
He grabbed her hand and pulled her along as he opened the front door. It was already dark by the time they left.
' let's stop by the train station and grab tickets to the next city' jayda finally found courage to say.
Adrian nodded.
They took the subway and bought train tickets for Ballard from Capitol Hill. They waited about an hour as the next train did not come until about an hour. it was around 9pm when the train finally came around. Adrian had grabbed a scarf from an unsuspecting woman as they passed through the station, and he had done it so skillfully that the woman did not notice her scarf was gone in an instant. He put the scarf over Jayda's head to hide her face incase there was some other mystical creature lurking around. They both kept their head down as they walked, avoiding gazes and not looking into people's faces. They were both relieved when the train came around and they got on. Adrian kept looking round suspiciously as if he was expecting some company or as if he was expecting Cade to jump out of thin air any second or just suddenly walk in and attack them. He held jayda's hand throughout the trip. He was not going to let go, not now not ever.
when they finally arrived at their destination after some fifty minutes later, they hailed down a cab and headed for some place to pass the night.
The Ballard inn, was their destination. it was popular among the locals and visitors.
They paid for a room for a whole week.
Adrian turned the key in the lock quietly and slowly opened the door. He put his head slowly through the small opening and surveyed the room. when he had satisfied himself that there was no one in the room, he pushed open the door and went in, Jayda following closely behind.
He shut and locked the door immediately. They both surveyed the room. The room was big enough to accommodate two people, there was only one bed in the room. and while they were checking in, the inn keeper, a bald old man probably in his seventies had asked if they were a married couple. Adrian had quickly answered yes before Jayda could protest. the inn keeper had said he had the perfect room for them, he had called it the honey moon suite.
Now that they were inside it they could see why he named it that. The moderately sized canopy bed, had colorful flower patterned curtains draping over it. The room was on the ground floor of the building and so they could see the flowers planted at the back from their window. Adrian went to check the bathroom to see if it was empty. Jayda could tell he was really worked. He was doing all this to protect her and keep her safe. someone who wanted to kill her would not go this far to make sure she was safe. she just stood watching him as he fussed around and checked every nook and cranny or space that someone could fit. He suddenly stopped when he noticed she was looking at him.
They looked at each other. Jayda felt herself fall for him all over again. His long hair that he kept running his hand through. His bulging biceps and broad chest, the veins that ran along the length of his arm. The intimidating height, the set cold grey eyes. He looked vicious and dangerous but she still felt turned on. Whether she was in love with him or just infatuated with him, or just lustfully attracted to him, she did not care. All she knew at that point was that she needed him, she wanted him badly, she ached to be touched and held by him. She felt something pulling her to him, and blinded by lust and want she slowly approached him. She could hear his labored breathing. She looked at him, she could see that she had the same effect on him. She could see that he was hardly restraining himself. He did not even make an attempt to conceal or hide the naked desire in his eyes. She wanted to see him lose his self control and take her like the ravaging beast that he was. She stood on her toes and pressed her lips on his. Before he could kiss her back, she quickly detached her lips from his and stood flat on the ground. A confused Adrian stared at her, then seeing the corny smile on her face he realized that she was teasing him. He quickly grabbed her waist in one swift movement of his arm as his lips came crashing down heavily on hers. They kissed and held on to each other passionately like they had been lovers who had lost touch for a very long time. Adrian impatient to make contact with her skin, ripped of the little black dress she had on. He carried her to the bed and gently lowered her down on it. He flipped her over turning her back to him. He pulled down his pants and in a matter of seconds he was inside her slamming and shoving as hard as he could and enjoying her screams of pleasure.
