CHAPTER TWENTY SEVEN

GEORGIA.
I used to be a very good actress while in secondary school, I was known for that although I never dreamt to have such a career. I took it to be fun those days but never knew a day like this would come in which I will have to play a crucial role just to get what I wanted. I needed to play Ava’s role to get Romeo’s address, that sounds a bit weird right? Sure it will but then that was the way at that point. This task is terrible because I had never seen her speak before except for the show of hers that I watch at one of my friend’s houses. I picked up the phone, clicked on the answer button, and on the loudspeaker for everyone else to hear.
“Hey Ava where are you now?” a voice spoke through the phone, baritone. The voice sounded truly like a criminal voice. I inhaled and exhaled twice before I could respond, my heart was beating faster as if it had limited time to get busted.
“Er-rm, am on my way to your place just that everything seems confusing now, can I get your address again, if you won’t mind sending it ?” I tried to sound like a scared musician, I had seen so many female musicians countless times in a scary situation so I know how they speak.
“Okay”. Romeo said, he sounded to be in a haste, not conscious of who was speaking. I quickly cut off the phone conversation and motioned the escorts to move after Romeo had sent it.
***
Just as Romeo sent the message, he heard a knock on his door and a whisper of “It’s me, Ava”.
Romeo was surprised at first, he thought Ava was pranking him. He slightly opened the door.
“But I thought you said you missed your way?” Romeo asked with a confused look on his face.
“No, no, not me, I didn’t even receive any call on my way here”. Ava entered the house, walking past Romeo who stood at the door post. She sat on the sofa dropping her bag beside her as she stared at Romeo at the door post. He shut the door, staring at Ava.
“But I called your line and you picked it when you were getting late”.
“I never saw any call, Lemme checks my phone”.
Ava dug her hand in her bag but didn’t find her phone there. Romeo stood watching with his hands folded at chest level. Ava unzipped her other luggage probably she had it between her loads, but she still didn’t find it. Just then she remembered that she left it on the dining table.
“I forgot the phone at home”.
“What!!! Romeo yelled.
“Who then picked up your phone when I called?” He asked.
“No Idea, but I think we are not safe anymore even right here”.
Just then the SWAT vehicle serene sounded as it came to a halt some distance away from the building.
“It’s over Romeo,” Ava said shivering.
Romeo was furious that he refused to answer because he wasn’t happy he would be caught any moment from then.
“What are you up to now?” Ava asked again.
“Go and hide, I got nothing to do you for you now”.
He went through the ceiling to the roof. He lay down on the roof and with the aid of binoculars, he sighted the SWAT team and their vehicle. He saw them as they alighted.
“Huh, they gat crazy guns”. Romeo soliloquized.
The escorts were not aware that Romeo was looking at them, so he had the opportunity to shoot the sniper he had with him. He shot David McClintock, next to Louis Boseman. Georgia who was leading turned back only to find that two of her men had dropped dead already. She of course didn’t hear the sound of the gun because Romeo used a silencer. Romeo thought it was over as he came back into the house. Georgia called Dan Philips immediately to that they needed more escorts, informing him about the men that were dropped dead already.
After the call, Georgia and the four others made their way into the building from their hideout.
As Thomas Thurber searched the room, unaware that Romeo had ambushed him, he kicked the gun off his hand and a fierce fight began after Thomas Thurber had used his Desert Eagle but had loosed it. It wasn’t easy but Thurber got Romeo down and handcuffed him after he had been bruised on his forehead due to Thurber’s persistent blows. He had also bled, blood flowing from his nostrils. Thomas Thurber communicated with Georgia through the walkie-talkie.
Ava also was caught by Georgia O’caloran but Ava had not for once been a criminal, neither was she among any of the armed forces so she had no sense of fighting to defend herself.
GEORGIA.
It was joy and sadness that was my feeling. I was happy I finally caught Rome and Ava but wasn’t happy we loosed two SWAT team members. The escorts I made the request came around, so they took Ava and Romeo to the jail before they begin their case in court. I called an ambulance to have the corpse of the two SWAT guys to be taken to the mog. After the day's job, I went home straight because I was stressed out already. Couldn’t eat anything, just crashed on my bed and fell asleep almost immediately.
I knew nothing until I woke up the next day because of the vitamin D rays of the morning sun that people would say we're very good for the body. It splashed on my face and at once I woke, blinking countlessly not until I was finally awake.
The day was going to be a good one, John was coming back and probably I expected some great at the office. I check the alarm clock that I had laid for a very long time on the stool just beside my bed. The time wasn’t friendly at all. I was already running late for the office., I immediately sprang off my bed abandoning my blanket as I hurried into the bathroom, brushed my teeth and took my bath, then dressed up for the office. I couldn’t have my breakfast again, so I just decided to go down to a deli shop around my office to have my breakfast once I get there.
When I got to the office, a received news that Dan Philips would like to see me. Was there another work for me again?, definitely, no because for now, I can’t take a burden again when I just completed one. I began to think of what could be the reason for him calling me. I ordered an office delivery, so they brought me a sandwich and coffee. When I was done munching the sandwich and swigging the coffee, I went on to meet Dan Philips in his office.
He handed over to me a letter with a big smile on his face.
“I am happy having someone like you on my team, you’ve never failed even when all is lost you drastically change the story, you deserved more than what is in the envelope but just have that as a gift of loyalty and commitment”.
Philips spoke all this as I stared at the paper I brought out of the envelope, I read it over and over again. it was a promotion letter, I couldn’t believe what my eyes were seeing and what my ears were hearing from Dan Philip.
“Thank you, sir, I appreciate this”. I saluted him.
“Can we have dinner this night if you won’t mind?”.
“Hum, nope this night has been booked already”.
“Okay, anytime you’re free, you can tell me and we’ll go out together”
“Yes sir” I saluted and left.
