CHAPTER 11

AMELIA POV
The woman's smirk momentarily faltered, her expression showing a hint of discomfort before she quickly covered it up with an expression of sly smirk. "I'm here because Alexander and I have work," she replied, her voice filled with false innocence. "But it seems like you're the one standing in the way of that."
I raised an eyebrow, not impressed by her obvious attempt to shift blame. "Oh, come on," I replied, my voice filled with disdain. "Don't act innocent with me. I know exactly what kind of 'business' you and Alexander are up to."
The woman's facade cracked, her mask slipping momentarily to reveal a hint of uncertainty. But she quickly regained her composure, her smirk returning in full force as she leaned back in her chair, crossing her legs with exaggerated casualness. “And what do you think you know?” she challenged, her voice tinged with thinly veiled contempt.
I looked straight into his eyes, refusing to give in to his arrogance. “I know you're just a distraction, a temporary pleasure for Alexander,” I replied, my voice unwavering despite my furious emotions." But remember, he will soon realize that you are not worthy.”
Her lips curled into a smirk as she leaned in to whisper to me. "You're quite strong. But let me tell you, you better watch out for your future husband. He might be with different women! So, be good in bed so he won't go looking for others," she said, her laugh echoing through the room. Her glare was as icy as her words.
"Is that so?" I countered, my voice dripping with sarcasm as I straightened my posture, refusing to let her demeaning words affect me. "Well, if Alexander left me, it definitely wasn't because of my performance in bed. Maybe he just realized he couldn't handle a woman as strong and independent as me."
"Oh, come on," she scoffed, her tone dripping with contempt. "Don't deceive yourself into thinking you're something special.
“Say what you want,” I replied coldly, my voice filled with icy determination. "But I know my worth and I won't let you or anyone else diminish it. As for Alexander, well, if he enjoys the company of shallow, petty women like you, then yes Maybe he's not the man I thought he was."
The woman's laughter filled the room, as she looked at me with a mix of amusement and contempt. "Oh, honey, you're even more delusional than I thought," she teased, her smirk growing into a self-satisfied grin. "But go ahead, keep living in your little fantasy world. It'll make the inevitable downfall all the more satisfying."
I felt a surge of anger welling up at her mocking tone, but I pushed it aside, refusing to let her see how much she affected me. Instead, I straightened my posture and met her gaze with a fierce look, resolved to prove that I wasn't easily intimidated.
"Trust me, I'm fully aware of the obstacles ahead," I replied, my voice cold and brief. "But unlike you, I'm not interested in stooping to petty insults and mind games. So if you'll excuse me, I'm not here to engage in some petty confrontation with you. If you have something to say, say it to Alexander."
"Oh, come on," Eliza scoffed, her tone dripping with contempt. "Don't act like you're better than this. We both know you're just as eager as the rest of us to grab onto whatever bit of attention Alexander decides to give you."
“Believe what you want,” I replied calmly, my voice tinged with resolve. "But I don't want to participate in your manipulative games. If Alexander wants to engage in such behavior, that's up to him. But I won't be dragged into this mess with you."
Eliza rolled her eyes dismissively, a mocking smile playing on her lips. "You're just another naive girl who fell for Alexander's charm. He knows how to play the game, and you're just another pawn in his little charade."

I stood up, straightening my skirt. "I'm here for work, not for petty arguments. If you have a problem with Alexander, talk to him directly. I'm not responsible for him."
With that, I spun around and walked out of the room. I wasn't going to let her words affect me. After all, I had work to do, and I wasn't going to let anyone, especially Precious Alexander, hinder me.
As I wandered around Alexander's company, I found myself on the rooftop, greeted by a breathtaking view and the soothing breeze that seemed to whisk away all my troubles. Yet, the headache caused by that woman persisted.
Here I stood, already overwhelmed by the endless wedding preparations, and yet she saw fit to add more frustrations to my plate. Can you believe that there are still women out there who are interested in that man? Despite his terrible attitude! What on earth could those women possibly see in Alexander? Is it his looks? His physique? Or his... Never mind, Amelia, that's a crude thought. Perhaps he's skilled at something else. But honestly, I'm baffled. I feel like such a fool, trapped in this never-ending cycle of uncertainty and frustration, unable to break free from its hold.
As I stood on the rooftop, absorbed in my thoughts and the peaceful beauty of the view before me, I was surprised by a voice calling my name. "Amelia? Is that you?" The voice came from behind me, and when I turned around, I saw a familiar face, though it took me a moment to recognize it.
