CHAPTER TWO

AMELIA POV
As we walked through the golf course, Cami's reaction to my upcoming wedding surprised me. She seemed really excited about it, which made me raise an eyebrow, wondering why she was so enthusiastic.
“Well, let us pray and hope for a billionaire who is not only extremely sexy but also extremely generous,” she commented a little too enthusiastically for my comfort.
"Seriously? Is that the best you can come up with?" I couldn't help but ask? my curiosity tinged with amusement, it seemed his excitement had confused me rather than convinced me.
Cami rolled her eyes playfully, a mischievous smile showing on her lips. "Come on, give me a break! What am I supposed to say to my best friend who`s about to tie the knot with someone she barely knows? Should I start packing my bags for a dramatic runaway, or do you have a better suggestion?" She teased, a hint of sarcasm adding spice to her words?
I couldn't help but laugh at his melodramatic reaction. The idea of running away has a certain appeal, especially amid uncertainty. However, in the whirlwind of emotions, I realized the weight of my commitments and the fact that I had agreed to this arranged marriage.Although the idea of running away tempted me, I knew in my heart that it was not a good option.
“Even though I want to consider this idea, I think I'll have to decline,” I replied, a smile escaping my lips. "With responsibilities on my plate and a commitment already made to this marriage, it's probably best to stick it out rather than making a daring escape."
Cami's expression softened, her eyes reflecting sincere understanding and constant support. She has been my rock through thick and thin, a constant source of comfort and true friendship. Our relationship is something I treasure greatly, and even in her harsh words, there is an undeniable sense of care. It's comforting to have a friend like her, someone who can read between the lines and offer support in the most sincere and unique way.
As we prepared to resume our interrupted round of golf, the familiar beeping from my phone broke the quiet moment. Curiosity aroused, I quickly took it out of my bag, glanced at the screen, and saw an unexpected message from my dad. The words on the screen sent a wave of disbelief over me, leaving me momentarily immobilized as I tried to process the surprising information.
"We'll have dinner at the Westwood Family House tonight. Get ready." The message on my phone was both brief and confusing, leaving me completely puzzled. As I read those words over and over again, a series of questions ran through my mind. Why Westwood? What occasion warranted such a sudden dinner? Uncertainty persisted, turning a simple invitation into a confusing puzzle, and I couldn't help but wonder what awaited me at the Westwood Family House.
"You have to be kidding me," I muttered under my breath, a mixture of disbelief and confusion stirring inside me. My eyes remained glued to my father's text message, carefully examining each word for some hidden meaning. My life seemed to have taken an unexpected turn, transforming into the plot of a thrilling detective novel. Every word in the text message held an incomprehensible secret waiting to be revealed.
"What is this?" Cami asked impatiently, curiosity increasingly overwhelming her. I showed her the message, and her reaction confused me. Instead of the expected confusion, she screamed with excitement, her eyes sparkling in anticipation.
"The Westwood family house? What a big surprise! Your father must have some grand plans!" she exclaimed, clearly reveling in the sudden change in our evening plans. Her enthusiasm only deepened the mystery, making me even more curious and worried about what awaited us at this mysterious dinner.
My initial shock quickly turned to disappointment as I looked at her with a mixture of disbelief and annoyance. "Seriously? That's your reaction?" I exclaimed, unable to understand her sudden excitement. That cryptic text message made me uncomfortable, and her lack of enthusiasm only made me more frustrated.
Cami's eyes sparkled with mischief as she shrugged, a playful twinkle dancing in her gaze. "I can't help it! It's like we're on a real spy mission or something," she exclaimed with a smile, her excitement evident. "It's so exciting!" Her enthusiasm was contagious, but it only made me more confused and disappointed by this unexpected turn of events.
Even though I was confused, I still couldn't help but laugh. Cami always finds enthusiasm in unexpected situations. His enthusiasm rubbed off on me, and even though I was confused, a small spark of curiosity sparked within me.
“Well, I guess we'll have fun with this unexpected turn of events,” I replied, a wry smile on my lips. "Who knows what surprises await us at this mysterious dinner? It's like we've stumbled upon some fascinating plot, and I can't help but feel a little curious."
As we continued the game, my mind couldn't shake thoughts of the evening ahead. Despite the warm sunlight enveloping us, my thoughts were still on the upcoming dinner. Questions swirled in my head like leaves caught in a whirlwind. What will happen at this dinner? Who exactly is Alexander Westwood, and what role does he play in all of this? And the most interesting thing is why they are in a rush to meet the Westwood family. Unease hung in the air like a thick fog, refusing to lift as we played all afternoon.
As the sun shined on the green golf course, I found myself standing at the tee, clutching my golf club. Next to me was my enthusiastic friend, , Cami who was almost ecstatic.
"That's right. Let's make the most of the day! Let's go shopping!" She exclaimed excitedly, her eyes filled with anticipation and a bit of mischief.
I couldn't help but raise my eyebrows at her playful suggestion. “Yeah, I highly doubt that's onthe agenda,” I replied, trying to keep a straight face at her ridiculous suggestion.
"But Why?" she asked, a hint of disappointment in her voice as she let out a playful groan, her expression a mixture of mock anger and genuine curiosity.
Cami, who never backs down easily, chimed in before I could say another word. “That is the reason why you should dress to impress!” she exclaimed, a mischievous smile playing on her lips as she leaned forward, clearly amused at the prospect of turning this dinner into a fashion show.
"After all, we are talking about the Westwood Family Home. It could be the site of a major event, and you wouldn't want to miss the opportunity to make a lasting impression!"
I sighed, realizing that arguing with her was futile. Cami, had a way of convincing me to do things I never thought I would. With a reluctant nod, I agreed to her plan.
After a few hours of playing golf, we went to the nearby shopping mall. Cami's excitement was catchy, and I couldn't help but feel a bit excited too. As we walked into the mall, the lively atmosphere and the sound of happy conversations filled the air.
We first went to a cool shop, and Cici quickly began looking through racks of stylish clothes. She had a great sense of fashion, and I trusted her opinion completely. With her help, I tried on different outfits, each one more stylish than the previous.
As I stood in front of the mirror, checking how I looked, Cami's eyes lit up with joy. "That's perfect!" she said excitedly, pointing at a stylish black dress that fit me well. I couldn't help but feel more confident as I looked at myself in the dress. It felt like the dress was telling me I could take on anything that comes my way.
With our shopping bags in hand, we went to a nearby cafe to take a break. While sipping hot coffee, we laughed and shared stories, enjoying each other's company. Cami had a talent for making even the most ordinary moments feel special.
