CHAPTER 7
AMELIA POV
I took a deep breath, trying to calm the nerves that were making me angry. "Stay focused and keep calm, Amelia," I told myself, my voice barely above a whisper. "You can do this. Just be patient. Maybe he has some good qualities. I hope so. This is crazy. I just hope he won't be difficult today. If he shows his arrogance again... Hmm! Damn it, I'm gonna kill him! Alexander Westwood, just wait and you will see how much of a bitch I am."
I tried to ignore my negative thoughts. Why did he even decide to come to this wedding when he didn't want it in the first place? Sigh! Never mind, this is really important and I have to approach it with an open mind. But deep down, I couldn't help but feel worried. The first meeting didn't go well, and his arrogance left a bad feeling in my presence.
As I opened my closet, I looked for a dress that would make me feel good and at ease. After a bit of searching, I found a pretty green dress. It was vibrant and eye catching, so I matched it with a nice hat, knowing that the hot weather in the Philippines required some shield from the sun. I don't want to get tan, you know.
As I looked at myself in the mirror, I couldn't help but feel really pretty. The green dress fit me perfectly, showing off my curves and making me feel great. I fixed the hat on my head, the brim shading my face and adding to my overall look, I suppose.
With my outfit ready, I focused on my makeup. I wanted to look good without seeming like I tried too hard. I chose a simple and natural style, using a bit of foundation to even out my skin tone and a little blush to give my cheeks a soft glow. I added some mascara and a neutral lip color to finish, enhancing my features without going overboard.
Walking down the stairs, I was surprised to find him lounging on the couch in the living room, looking completely at ease as if he owned the place. He even had a cup of coffee in his hand, showing no sign of being bothered by my presence. Though I felt annoyed, I reminded myself to stay calm and composed.
Alexander Westwood, the man who had been a constant annoyance to me since yesterday, was sitting in my living room, casually sipping coffee as if it were the most ordinary thing. He was dressed neatly in a clean white shirt and dark pants, his black hair styled neatly. He looked every bit the accomplished businessman he was, and it was obvious he was aware of it.
I walked up to him, putting on a fake smile. "Good morning, Alexander," I greeted, trying to sound formal. I hoped he wouldn't notice the irritation hiding behind my calm expression.
His eyes met mine, a quick look of surprise appearing before it turned into a smug grin. "Ah, Amelia," he replied, his voice dripping with disdain. He took another sip of his coffee, his gaze fixed on me. "You're looking quite daring today."
His comment was clearly about my outfit. I was wearing a bright floral dress, which stood out against his plain clothes. Though his words hurt, I chose to ignore them, determined to stay calm and not let his arrogance bother me. Rather than responding to him, I focused on staying calm and handling the situation gracefully.
He casually put his coffee cup down, a smug smile on his face. "You're looking nice today. Did you put on this attire just to impress me?". His arrogance was obvious, his words meant to annoy me, as if he enjoyed seeing my reaction.
I suppressed the urge to roll my eyes, opting to maintain my gaze on him, concealing the extent of his irritation.Instead, I mustered a polite smile and replied, "Oh, Alexander, you flatter yourself too much. My outfit has nothing to do with you. "I always make an effort to present myself well, Mr. Westwood," I responded evenly, my voice steady. "Looking good is something I prioritize."
His confident expression wavered momentarily before he composed himself again. It was obvious that my reply took him by surprise. Maybe he thought I would get mad or annoyed. But I was set on dealing with this calmly and confidently.
"Look who's here, my future brother-in-law? It's nice to see you, you look exactly like Amelia said. A total package, shall I say?" Emily suddenly intervened with her playful smile while holding a jar of green mango fermented fish sauce.
"You didn't say he's this good-looking, Alexander Westwood," the woman commented with a playful smile. "You're lucky, your kid will have good looks. Ha! Ha! Ha!" I was surprised by her comment. We weren't even married yet, and she was already talking about future kids. It felt like she was rushing things, assuming things about our relationship that hadn't even fully developed
"What kid? What are you even saying?" I said in shock, frowning in confusion. "Even if the world were to end tomorrow, I wouldn't want to have kids with him," I stated firmly, my tone annoyed. "Just thinking about it gives me a headache," I said, shaking my head in disbelief.
Turning to my sister, I gave her a sarcastic poke, a frustrated expression showing my face. "Oh, Emily, seriously? You know that's ridiculous," I said irritably, trying to convey my annoyance at her comment.
Suddenly, my dad barged in, his loud voice shattering the tension in the room. "Ah, there's Amelia! Are you ready to leave yet?" he demanded, his tone a grating blend of irritation and authority.
With a forced smile, Dad turned to Alexander.“ And you,” he said dryly, his voice a little annoyed,“ make sure you take good care of my daughter, understand?” There was a bit of seriousness in his tone, mixed with discomfort, showing that he was not joking.
I glanced at Alexander, noticing a hint of unease in his eyes. Despite his usual arrogance, he seemed to understand the seriousness of my dad's words.
"Alright, dad, we're heading out now," I announced, giving them both a wave as we prepared to leave."
Walking out of the house, I couldn't help but admire the sight of a shiny and beautiful sports car waiting for us. Its polished exterior sparkled in the sunlight, giving off a feeling of class and style that left me momentarily amazed.
"What, are you just going to stand there?" he asked impatiently, his annoyance clear in his voice as he glanced at me. "Come on, I have a meeting soon." With a quick wave, he walked towards the car, leaving me standing there, feeling of annoyance of his bossy attitude.
I couldn't believe it. As I walked towards the car, he didn't even bother to open the door for me. What a rude guy, I thought, feeling annoyed at his bad manners.
But as I got into the car, any remaining annoyance disappeared, replaced by amazement at the inside. It was beautiful, much more impressive than I had anticipated from the sleek exterior. Soft leather seats embraced me, and the dashboard sparkled with refined elegance. The smell of luxury surrounded me, mixed with the faint scent of a new car.
"Oh, already captivated, huh?" he laughed, his tone dripping with arrogance. His teasing comment irritated me. I gave a forced smile, hiding my annoyance as I replied, "Just admiring this car, that's all."
"I can't believe this," I whispered quietly, frustration rising within me like a boiling pot. "You're so annoying, you couldn't even try to behave like a gentleman."
With a sigh, I struggled with the seatbelt, my fingers fumbling over the buckle in unsuccessful attempts to fasten it. But no matter what I did, it refused to cooperate, As I struggled with the stubborn seat belt, my frustration grew stronger.
Is setup difficult? I glared at him, silently cursing his thoughtlessness. If only he would help instead of sitting there, it wouldn't be so uncomfortable.
I was surprised when, suddenly, he leaned over and reached across me to fix my seatbelt. His unexpected closeness startled me, and for a moment, our faces were very close. I felt the warmth of his breath on my skin, and being so close made my heart beat faster.
In my surprised, I acted without thinking and accidentally hit him. The sound of my hand hitting his cheek echoed in the small space of the car, and I instantly regretted my impulsive action.
"What the fuck, why did you do that?" His voice was filled with anger, his face showing a combination of shock and offense.
“You surprised me,” I replied sharply and defensively. The rush of adrenaline running through my body only added to my already tense nerves, and I couldn't help but feel uncomfortable at his sudden actions.
As the tension grew between us, I couldn't shake the feeling of unease in the air. It was obvious that our conversation had changed unexpectedly, and I silently blamed myself for reacting too quickly.Download Novelah App
