The Girl

"Goodness gracious... my whole body stinks, " Mira pretended to puke as she sniffed herself.
She was sitting at the edge of the fishing vessel that had agreed to give her a lift.
As soon as she came near the shore, she waved at them, " Thank you for the ride, " she said before diving back in the sea.
She swam as far as she could, scrubbing herself , trying to get the stinking smell out of her skin.
She went to the shore , picked up some mud and rubbed all over her body.It did her good and then she was finally ready to venture inside civilized society.
Mira was not someone who had the opportunity to travel a lot and the overwhelming crowd in the bazaar adjacent to the port took her by surprise.
It seemed like every eye followed every step she took and it was making her feel very uncomfortable.
She picked up her pace and began walking faster.
" Geez! Where are the rest of them... I swear they all look like they are straight out of the underworld. "
She murmured as she took a turn when suddenly someone grabbed her hand and pulled her around the corner.
It was an old woman who reminded Mira of Braze's landlord but she wasn't exactly the same person.
" Are you with them? " she asked, looking over her own shoulder as if extremely scared.
" Sorry, with whom? " Mira asked, trying to understand her source of fear.
" Are you with them, boys or girls? Tell me quickly! I don't have time for this. The Darklings might be here any moment... If they do, I can't help you anymore. "
She was frantically shaking and Mira wondered whether she would end up being the one helping the poor woman.
" By boys, do you mean Braze, Kian or Xen? " Mira asked.
The woman answered through gritted teeth,
" I don't know their names, alright. Three fine boys, " and then she whispered, " Not from around here, you know. Not from this planet. "
Mira winked. But before she could, as much as answer, the old woman shrieked , with her hands over her ears.
" My good Lord, they are here, "
And sure they were. Mira could feel their sinister aura closing in.
" Hurry, " She picked up the woman in her arms and began running, " Show me where the boys are. "
The woman pointed behind a few stalls in the distance as Mira sprinted with the woman in her arms. But Mira could feel that the Dark Mages were too close and it would blow their entire plan up if she led them directly to where the boys were.
She dropped the woman and said, " Go tell them, I will get back after diverting them. "
And before the old woman could answer, Mira was gone. She was headed right towards where the Dark Mages were.
The woman quickly went around a few shabby looking stalls . She went inside what looked like an abandoned kitchen and then she lifted up an oil can. A trap door popped up, exposing a series of flights that went towards a basement.
She ran downstairs as if the survival of her old bones depended on it.
" Master Yvonne... Master Yvonne... "
she was gasping.
" Martha, breathe... " She paused in a very calm voice, reverberating around the small enclosure.
" Master, I found the girl you asked me to look for but she... "
" She went towards the Darklings, didn't she... " A well-built man with completely white hair, finally looked up and closed his pen with a click, looking at Martha, from over his glasses.
" This child is very interesting. We must follow her closely.... In the meantime Martha, go look for the guys, They must be scattered around this place. Bring them all in here. I think I will need to intervene with the stupid girl. " He kicked the chair and stood up, rolling his sleeves as if preparing for a fight.
" But Master... The Dark Mages... you haven't... why this time... " Martha looked horrified but Yvonne shut her as he raised his hands.
" There is no time to explain... do as you are told. " And before Martha could respond , Yvonne was gone. Only the shawl remained with which he had wrapped himself. It fell on the chair as Martha looked on.
Mira was standing right in front of the Dark Mages.
She had managed to lure them away from the hustle, bustle. She was now facing them, with her back towards the sea shore.
Her eyes were blazing and there was a thunder cloud building right above where she stood.
" What do you want from us? Why are you tracking us like rabid dogs? Where is my mother? What did you do to her? "
Mira was spitting one question after another and it did not seem like she was the one being persecuted in that backdrop.
The Dark Mages did not utter a word. They kept closing in, their dark miasma, tainting the atmosphere.
Smoke was starting to rise from Mira's palm.
Yvonne watched from the side of his eyes as he focused on the Dark Mages instead of Mira.
And then they started chanting, the hollows in their eyes twinkled with spark straight from hell.
"Drak'thul na khar!...(Summon the shadows!)
Draek'vorn !...(Darkness shall reign!)
Gor'thul shafranek...(Power of the abyss.)
Mal'zarnok ...(Blood of the fallen.)
Nythorak krysth'gar!...(Unleash the torment!) "
Yvonne froze as he heard them chant. He looked at Mira and was about to ask her not to use her powers when suddenly two gliders interceded.
" Look, what we have here. An entire band of Chemorian goons. "
It was George and Rozelle.
" Mira, are you alright? "
George ran towards Mira. Her flames instantly vanished and she looked at him, flabbergasted.
" Oh, I am so sorry. Please do not be scared. We are the good guys. I will explain everything later. "
Geroge turned towards Rozelle and went to aid his sister.
It was as if he actually did not recollect anything that happened back in the cave and he seemed genuinely concerned about Mira. But before Mira could see through it, a pair of hands pulled her to the side and Yvonne yanked her out of there.
