A past full of regrets

" Where are those kids Master Yvonne? Are they gone for good? "
It was clear Martha did not like the four of them , in fact she saw them as competition for her master's attention. She took unnatural pride in her service.
Yvonne smiled at her.
" They are where they need to be. The sooner they figure out their purpose on this planet, the closer they will be towards their destiny... " He murmured, settling down on his chair, putting on his glasses and scribbling something on his desk.
" I feel sorry for the girl. She has so much on her shoulder at such a tender age... She doesn't even know, it all started with her... "
Yvonne leaned back after putting his pen down. His hands folded behind his back.
" Why did you have to choose him, Kiara... Don't tell me, you don't feel responsible for Mira's fate." He sighed heavily and turned around. " The poor girl has no clue. I am sorry Kiara. She is still looking for herself. I could not bring myself to tell her the truth about her father. I could not tell her that her own father is after her life. I could not tell her that she has been sought after since the moment she was born... I know you asked her to look for a Guardian in hopes that I would be the one to cross paths with her. I know you want me to help her. I did whatever I could Kiara. I am not going to do your dirty job for you. You chose that ignominious b* over me. I had been begging you. I have been warning you. I told you he was not someone who could be trusted. But what did you do Kiara? You and your tribe exposed me. I was forced to seek refuge in this world."
He changed position, a frown forming between his eyebrows.
" I have been keeping it all buried deep under my breast , Kiara. I am glad you survived Kiara. But I am also furious at your state. What have you been reduced to and for whom? Why did you not end your pregnancy? Why did you bring this suffering on yourself? I could never understand why the life of that devil's child was more important to you than your own life... "
Yvonne's eyes drifted away. He was staring at the nothingness in front of him.His feet tapped with an unknown rhythm as he slowly closed his eyes,
" But now that I met your daughter, I think I understand. She has the same eyes and same hair as yours. The uncanny resemblance she shares with you was enough for me to want to risk my everything, just to save her. She has her father's features as well. Must be nice looking at the face of Calex, the man you loved so passionately. "
" Master Yvonne... " Martha's scream brought Yvonne back on the ground.
He was levitating. He had not even realized but he was making everything around him float as well.
Yvonne yanked his eyes open and everything fell back on the ground, with a loud thud.
" Master... You don't look good. I haven't seen you like this in ages. I knew that an obnoxious girl will bring bad luck in your life just like her mother... "
" Martha watch your tongue. Don't forget your place. You were created out of my consciousness. If you start having a mind of your own, I am afraid, I might need to put you back to where you belong. "
Yvonne's calm exterior was gone. His eyes looked agitated and the gentleness on his face was replaced with aggression .
" I am sorry, Master. I did not mean to be rude. It's just that I am worried about your health. I don't want you to fall into depression once again... "
" I won't! " It seemed like Yvonne tried to reassure himself . " This time around, I will not be sulking and feeling sorry for myself... You can be sure about that... "
Yvonne left Martha staring as he grabbed his overcoat and disappeared.
***
Kiara lay on the forest floor, bleeding here and there. She could barely stand up. Her limbs were failing her. She had no hope of still being alive but luckily she did.
" I hope you are alright Mira. All my struggle will be worth it, if you are able to have a future despite all of it... " She was mumbling to no one in particular but a pair of hands lifted her head.
" She will have a future alright. But you need to live to see it. She cannot do it alone Kiara. You cannot possibly ask her to face the Dark Devil all alone. "
Kiara looked stunned as Yvonne helped her up. He made her lean against himself and then brought forth a vial from his pocket.
" Here. Drink up. You will need your strength. " Kiara kept staring at his face and he spent a couple of seconds looking at her quivering lips and eyes. " It's not just the Dark Mages, Kiara... those kids are being chased by the Watchers as well. And soon enough the Chemorian Tribes will join this madness. Your daughter will need you. You cannot leave her alone. "
Yvonne fed her drops from the vial as Kiara kept looking at him with questions splashing in her eyes.
" Why are you here Yvonne? "
She finally managed to grab his hands and ask him.
" To save you. What did you think? " He tried to laugh it off but Kiara grabbed his collar and yanked him towards herself.
" They will come after you as well. I just wanted you to help those kids. You do not need to risk your life again because of me. I owe you enough. I cannot be burdened with you risking your life again. You do not need to blow your cover Yvonne. You have no other place to call home... You... "
" Kiara... Just drink... you do not need to tell me what I can or cannot do. It's my call. I get to choose this time, not you. "
Kiara looked at Yvonne dumbfounded. He did not seem like the Yvonne she once knew.
